It sure is one Chunky book Emily! Glad you're settling in & joining us for GWTW! I'll get the thread(s) going asap in the morning - bear with me if I can't get them up first thing! We've aldready had a power line fire earlier this evening due to the winds which has us knocked out power but it's supposed to be back on any time - (typing this on my cell!) We were also supposed to have heavy rains today & into tomorrow but it seems as though the storm has moved west/inland so we haven't had rain since early this morning. The winds are another story, they've been getting worse all day & evening. As soon as I can tomorrow I'll open the discussion thread and a seperate one for background info on author Margaret Mitchell, the time period in which she wrote the novel and the time period in which the novel takes place.

Can you believe tomorrow is October 1st already?!

Just started reading my copy of GWTW last night. We've just moved house and haven't fully finished unpacking yet, so I was worried that I wouldn't be able to find my copy on time. Luckily it was in the second box of books I opened... whew! Still have ten more boxes of books to unpack... oh dear... :(

I'm annoyed, I thought I ordered the book for this chunky reads. I went to borders to check if it was shipped and it turns out I didn't even send the order through. I did now. I have to wait another 3-5 days.

Amazon is not on back order. It is available on Kindle and also audible if you want to listen to it. I don't know about Borders or Barnes and Noble.

I second the motion of Gone With the Wind. I bought a copy recently and there is a fabulous introduction by Pat Conroy.
