For 30.2, I found, quite by accident, that a child was 13 and under. (Somewhere in the thread.) I hadpicked a book where the child was 14. (I had not read the book yet--- but could have.) Little details like that could be posted back at the top so it's easily seen for reference.

PJ, I hate to argue with you, but here is the exact quote for 30.5 "A. Read a fiction book with a food or beverage in the title - the item could be the dish itself."
Since there's a definite conflict between the Task Description for 30.5 and the Task Help thread, we will interpret "ingredient in the title" as a preference rather than a requirement.
In general, I think we've been verifying requirements from the Task Description (not the Task Help thread).
We haven't been checking the age of the main character for 30.2.
THE RULES of the challenge apply to all tasks, particularly the rule that requires a minimum of 100 pages per book for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50 point tasks.
Cynthia's requirements in post 1 of the COMPLETED TASKS thread apply to all tasks.

20.6 The Secret Life Of CeeCee Wilkes 5 stars - must read summer book! I really enjoyed this story about a young girl faced with many tough decisions and the effect they may or may not have in her life. CeeCee's life brings up many questions about morals and responsibility; the interesting thing is that you will find yourself constantly thinking what you would do in her position. It seems like an easy answer, but is everything so cut and dry? Ultimately, do you side with CeeCee or against CeeCee? This was a great page-turning summer read, a mystery you know the general ending to, and an incredible adventure in getting there.

Initially I picked up from post 851 (where Cynthia had gotten to). With Petra's help, we're starting to go through posts 1-850 to re-compile the first part of the GR Authors and Big Books lists.
Be patient and one way or another the lists should be complete in time.

The link for The Bone Collector takes me to Bag of Bones by Stephen King, which is 752 pages long. Not sure if you're claiming a Big Book ticket or if your page total of 741 is the total pages of both books.
I think there's a Goodreads mistake in the link but wanted to confirm with you.

For all us booklovers, summer is a great time of year to relax with our favorite reads. In this task, share your love of your favorites with us. Read two (2) books:

C. Write a short review for each and an explanation of why your like that genre/type.
For A, I (Helen) love historical fiction so will probably read An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon. I love being able to live history through the eyes of a strong character. It makes the time period and the events more real.
For B, I love SciFi/Fantasy and will probably read To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis. The ability to see beyond current reality and describe those visions in book form is incredible. I am sampling some of the older Hugo Award winners.
A. Jeffrey Deaver’s The Burning Wire
I love all thrillers. I like to read them in one sitting to the wee hours of the morning
B. YA Sea of Monsters by Riordan
I love science fantasy. I became hooked back in the day on Anne McCaffrey, Jean Auel and Roger Zelazny. I also love Harry P.

In The Quiet American the title does not refer to the main character. Should I compare with the secondary character who the title kind of refers to or the main character who it doesn't?

You just need to address the requirement -- just explain the situation and compare the pertinent character.
REBECCA MA - post 211330.3 Sheila's Task - An Ode To Illinois
A. I read Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell This book talks about the assassinations of Lincoln, Garfield and McKinley, but really focuses on Lincoln, with facts throughout the whole book. I learned a lot about all of the assassinations in this book, and in particular about Lincoln. There were a lot of stories that just don't get told in the history books. However, I found that chapters were way too long and it was a bit wordy, so I found it hard to follow and at times a bit dry.
B. I read My Life with the Lincolns by Gayle Brandeis. This book was an interesting read...I found it odd that the girl in the book thought that her family was the Lincoln family reincarnated, but at times her ''theories'' actually made a bit of sense. What I really liked about this book was the connection between the slavery/race debate of the 1860's to the race debate of the 1960's.
30.3B requires "When people think Illinois they think Chicago: Read a book with Chicago in the title (The Chicago Way) or a book that takes place in Chicago (The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America).

While libraries would categorize MacAlister's books as romance, this one has a STRONG fantasy element with romance weaved in. Steampunk fun!
25.5 - Helen's Task II: 2nd Favorite Genre (YA)
The Off Season by Catherine Gilbert Murdock (3 Stars)
Most Young Adult novels that I'll read are a quick escape from my bigger novels. This one I was pleasantly surprised. The entire series was quite touching (if a little unbelievable but I ignore that for story flow). And I would recommend it to anyone else hunting for a YA trilogy.

AMANDA VA - post 2156Finished 30.2- I read "A Wrinkle in Time" and recommended it to a friend's son, then I read "Wind in the Door," which is the sequel and has three children as the main characters. I loved the first one, the second one was sort of..Magic School Bus meets the book of Genesis..? Weird.

SARA E - post 216120.10 - The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Gah! This book was SOOOO good! I don't care that the plot is a total rip off of Battle Royale or The Running Man, it is just awesome. I am going to devour Catching Fire next and I can't wait to read Mockingjay, only 21 days left!!

EMILY IN - post 217225.5 - Helen's Task - Share the Summer Love - I love humorous stories so for the first book I read Not Tonight Honey, Wait 'Til I'm a Size Six. I am a person that really enjoys a good laugh and this book provided a few.
The second book I read was Pretties. I enjoy young adult books. Each time I start a new YA book or series I often go back to my childhood and I find this very comforting.

KATHLEEN FL - post 224325.5-Share the Summer Love- First favorite genre: Literary Fiction:The Lacuna and Second favorite genre Apocalyptic/Distopian: Extras.

I absolutely loved The Lacuna! I found myself rereading several sentences and passages because they were so beautifully written. This is probably the reason I like literary fiction, I love when someone can write a sentence that just makes you fill awestruck. I also enjoyed the historical aspect of this novel. I gave this book 5 stars.
I usually really enjoy apocalyptic and Distopian novels. For this challenge I chose Distopian and read the last of the Uglies series. I was underwhelmed! I gave it two stars. It just didn't have much of an impact on me.

I am so sorry to be so late on answering your questions. I can accept all of the great examples that you all submitted except that Misery by Stephen King downs't appear to be a forensic or medical mystery. If I can find it on a list I will accept it or you can state your case for including it and I will consider it.

Does the whole book have to have taken place in Chicago? I wasn't sure if I should post that question here or if I should ask Sheila in the help thread at this point. Parts of the book do take place there, as that's where Mina and her father go for the demonstrations and sit ins.

For task 15.1, you listed a "blue" and a "borrowed." For this task, the books also must be "old" (published before you were born) or "new" (an author you hadn't read previously) - so the two books need to be either blue/old and borrowed/new OR blue/new and borrowed/old.
