What are you reading right now?
I finished reading
by Christopher Ransom this morning. This book was one of the worst horror novels I've read in my entire life. It wasn't even the slightest bit scary. The author's writing style is terrible and I felt like most of the book was written by a horny 12-year-old. The whole plot was confusing and I disliked all the characters. I ended up not really caring what happened to any of them. This book is definitely one to avoid. My full review is here. Now I'm about to begin
by Stephen King.

Oh, that's so awesome, Holly! I cannot wait to hear your thoughts on it, once you're done! I love Dan Simmons writing.

Once I'm able to get it and read it, I'll let you know. With everyone saying how good it is, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as well. :)

Sounds like a plan. I've yet to see a negative review of it.

It sure does. I have yet to see one, either.
how is Carrion Comfort? I can't make my mind up whether I fancy it or not. I read The Terror by Dan Simmons earlier this year and parts of it were amazing, but on the whole I found it a bit too long and parts of it were kind of hard to visualise

I'm only 16 pages in, but it is pretty interesting so far.
Jacob -- I find it very interesting that you were, in parts turned off by "The Terror." That's the one book by Dan Simmons that's based on the truth. There WAS a ship called the Terror, it was the flagship for Lord Franklin, who was convinced he could find a Northwest Passage. Needless to say, he failed....it's after the factual story is out of the way that the truly frightening part begins -- but I still love the start, simply for the beauty of Simmons' writing.

So far, I like what I've read, and maybe if I like Simmons' enough, I'll have to add The Terror to my list. :)

Yes; this will always be one of my favorites by him. In fact, I think it's on the top of the list. :)
I've let myself get caught up in the Walking Dead graphic novels. I just finished number 16 and now have to wait for the next installment. I have to say that the writing is very good and the artwork is amazing. I wonder though how difficult it is drawing so much gore; crazy stuff.

Thank you, Kyle. I really appreciate that. I've never read him before, but I've been interested in Berserk for several years now. Have you read that one?

I did appreciate his descriptive skills, but found it dragged a little at times. There are longer books than this (IT and The Stand for example) that fly by and could even be longer than they are, whereas I felt this one could have been maybe 100 pages shorter without the story suffering

I just finished
by Stephen King earlier today and I absolutely loved it. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King and The Green Mile has got to be one of the best novels he has ever written. In fact, it's one of the best novels I have ever read in my entire life. Once I started it, I couldn't put it down! It is very beautifully written and extremely moving at times. The plot is original, gripping and heart-breaking. I'd give this book more than five stars if I could! Now I'm about to start
by Shirley Jackson.

Earlier, I finished reading
by Shirley Jackson. I was disappointed by this book to be honest. I felt the novel did not live up to the reputation it has gotten. I just felt like it was missing something. Plus I disliked all the characters and the strange dialogue between them really annoyed me. This is one novel where the movie, or in this case movies, are better than the book. My full review is here.Next I'm going to read
by Anne Rice.

Finished The Pilo Family Circus, which was absolutely fantastic.I've decided to carry on with the evil clown theme and re-read It for Halloween.
Just starting on Carrion Comfort while slowly wrapping up Something Wicked This Way Comes. (Most years I tear through Something Wicked This Way Comes but decided to just sip at as if it was a fine Scotch this year.)
