I started Mystery by Peter Straub on Friday, so far I like it. I didn't get much reading done on the weekend, but planning to pick it up today again.

reading Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and A is for Alibi; both of which are pretty good. miss peregrines is not scary, just a little weird. i wanted to make sure to keep an open mind and not read any reviews a month prior to picking up this book. so many readers went in with preconceived notions of this book and ended up giving poor reviews based off of it. i want to be fair. so far it is 3 stars.
a is for alibi is pretty good and the main character doesn't irritate me. i don't even think of her as a female character; only as a character, which is great.
In honor of the death of Michael Clarke Duncan, I rewatched the movie
The Green Mile
Sunday evening. Last night, I started rereading the book. I appreciate that there is so much similarity, so far.

I was so shocked when I heard that he passed away....I couldn't believe it!
I recently finished The Black Dahlia and yesterday finished Equal Rites. The last 1/4 of Black Dahlia was excellent and I thought Equal Rites was much better thanThe Color of Magic. I will definitely read more of both series.
Now I'm reading Casino Royale.

So sad, isn't Dustin? I really liked him. :(
Yes, it's incredibly sad. He was a great actor, and his portrayal of John Cofee was utterly brilliant, IMO!He is missed..

Yes, it was. I love that movie!
He is....:(
Dustin wrote: "I really hope to read Quiet The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking It sounds fascinating. When you're finished, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it.:)Dustin: I updated my review just now, since I finished the book while out of town for the weekend. It was very enjoyable and I highly recommend it to anyone who lives, loves, or works with introverts - which probably means everyone ever.
Here's my actual review -- http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Kathryn wrote: "I am reading The Tommyknockers by the master himself."How is it for you so far Kathryn?
I finished
by Donald McCaig earlier today. Basically the storyline of the novel is Gone With the Wind from Rhett Butler's point of view and it was a bit of a disappointment really. Gone With the Wind is one of my favourite novels and I found all the characters in RBP, even the major ones of Rhett and Scarlett, are out of character. There is also a lot of errors that contradict the original, characters dying when they lived in GWTW and vice versa, Melanie knowing about Scarlet being in love with her husband, etc. As a standalone historical fiction novel, Rhett Butler's People is okay but as a complement to Gone With the Wind it sucks! Now I'm about to start
by Diane Chamberlain.

Hi Janie! I am liking it so far! I haven't had the opportunity to read much this weekend because a good friend of mine came to visit me for the weekend. I'm now relaxing and reading. Hoping to get further into it tonight. :)

It's great to hear that you're enjoying it so far, Kathryn! I haven't gotten very far, either. I think I'm at the start of Chapter 5.

David wrote: "I am reading Song of Susannah (Dark Tower VI) and The Road by Cormac McCarthy"Hi, David!
What are your thoughts, so far, on The Road and Susannah?
I've moved on to Mira Grant's Newsflesh series. I'm reading them in publication order and I'm currently on the novella Countdown. They're super enjoyable.
Dustin wrote: "David wrote: "I am reading Song of Susannah (Dark Tower VI) and The Road by Cormac McCarthy"Hi, David!

Hi Dustin, how goes it? I've got a lot of free time on my hands right now so I'm reading quite a bit. I still have other group reads for September to read through too.
I know you didn't ask me, but I loved the Road. It got some unfair bad press for being boring from some people. For me it struck home because it felt completely plausible the way we're headed right now. But beyond that, it was incredibly bleak and hopeless, which was necessary to highlight the strength of a father's love for his son. An amazing read.
Hi, Tim!I am good, thank you so much for asking.:)
I appreciate your input on The Road. I loved it, as well. Personally, I don't see how it could bore anyone, but then again it isn't your typical Cormack McCarthy westerns, so maybe that has something to do with it. It really struck home for me, as well, because it is VERY plausible. In order to for it to maintain its plausibility, I think it had to be incredibly bleak and hopeless.

I finished reading
by Diane Chamberlain just a few minutes ago. It's a brilliant read! It took me a couple of chapters to get into this novel but once I did I was hooked! Every time you think you've guessed the big secret, it moves to another level and you realise what you think you've guessed is only a tiny piece of the puzzle. I couldn't put it down! Next I plan to read
by John Steinbeck.
Finished up Every Love Story is a Ghost Story: A Life of David Foster Wallace and am about to see if I can get through New York: The Novel by the end of the month.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the David Foster Wallace biography..:)
I'm currently reading The Bachman books by Stephen King (Richard Bachman) and Strangers by Dean Koontz.

Hi Dustin,
How've you been? Overall I thought Every Love Story is a Ghost Story: A Life of David Foster Wallace was pretty good though in some parts it felt a little too clinical and I think there could have been a little more insight into DFW's work. That being said though it does cover his life thoroughly.
I've been all right, Jason. Thank you for asking! And thank you for your input, I really appreciate that.:)
I just got finished with Tommyknockers and The Book Thief. I liked Tommyknockers but the Book Thief was amazing!I'm due for a Biography in my reading cycle so I'm starting Henry Clay - the essential American. I read something less heavy along with my non-fiction so I'm going to start reading The Dog Stars. I love dogs and post apocalyptic fiction, so I'm looking forward to it :)

I love Skeleton Crew, it's a great collection. I hope you enjoy it, as well!
Yesterday I finished reading
by John Steinbeck. It's an extremely short but nevertheless fantastic novel. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The ending is so incredibly moving that I cried while reading it. I truly can't recommend this novel enough. John Steinbeck is an excellent author (and one of my favourite writers)! Today I've started reading
by Jay Asher.
After finishing Mira Grant's Newsflesh series (which was AWESOME, btw) I'm back to working on my Stephen King reread with The Drawing of the Three.
