Rachel wrote: "I'm gonna be curious to see how many duplicates we have when we move in together."When Todd and I moved in together I was mostly surprised how small a book collection he had. He had maybe 20 books even though he was a big reader. I'd turned him on to Barker a few years before when we were in a Job training course for teens in the summer.
To be honest, after "Weaveworld", I really stopped following Barker religiously. I read one every now and then, but they couldn't quite touch some of the magic I found in that book. I think you misunderstood what I was saying... I very much loved "Weaveworld" - there was an other-ness about it that captivated me. There was one thought, one idea, that I absolutely loved, and have incorporated into my "spiritual" beliefs. To be honest, I'm not quite sure it WAS "Weaveworld" - but the idea that there is a sea that a human visits three times in the span of his lifetime: first on the first night after he is born, when he sleeps independent of his mother; the next is the first night one spends with the true love of one's heart, and the last is the night one dies. That resounded with me to my toes!!BTW, I think that, in all honesty, my favorite Barker books are the "Books of Blood" - his first three collections of short stories. I found more ideas in those stories than in the rest of his writing.

Thank you for your input!
I started reading
and it made me stop reading Eclipse temporarily. This book so far is amazing. The last book I read as good as this was Under the Dome.
Recently started
by Wilkie Collins. This book is a recommended book by Stephen King. The book is a little slow going due to the old english, but the story is pretty good so far.
Kyle wrote: "I'm reading

Veronica: there's a reason why this "Dragon Tattoo" trilogy is a world wide best-seller - it's terrific!~!
I recently read The Turtle Boyand liked it very much. I am now rereading a book I read years ago:
Boy's Life. So far, it's just as good as I remember it to be.
Finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and then started Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Bondama wrote: "Veronica: there's a reason why this "Dragon Tattoo" trilogy is a world wide best-seller - it's terrific!~!"Hi, Bondama!
It's just a shame that Larsson never got to finish writing the series, which was supposed to be 9 or 10 books long...
I'm currently reading The Wheat Field~ It's really pornographic....I mean the detail is like Wooo I didn't need to know that...But it is still really good
I finished 11/22/63 today. I was planning on starting A Christmas Carol but haven't made it to the library yet. So my fall back is a TBD short story collection.

Just started rereading I, Robot. Love these stories! Am also rereading The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft.
by tonight, I will be reading A Christmas Carol and Who Can Save Us Now?: Brand-New Superheroes and Their Amazing (Short) Stories.
Todd wrote: "Just started rereading I, Robot. Love these stories! Am also rereading The Complete Works of H.P. Lovecraft."Wow - I'm reading I, Robot now and it's like TORTURE.
Just finished Will You Love Me Tomorrow? By Claudia Carroll and I'm starting Bridesmaids By Jane Costello
Dani - you don't like Asimov's robot stories? Asimov was a genius. His storytelling tended to be more science-driven than character-driven. It might take a few reads of the stories to sink in (the very first time I read some of the stories, I was like "Huh?").Those that liked the movie with Will Smith will likely hate the original stories, since the movie paid little attention or respect to the Three Laws of Robotics.

I once tried Asimov's Foundation, but that had to be a good 10-12 years ago. My literary tastes have changed since then. I might really like and appreciate his writing now...although I do recall it being very wordy.
Right now i am reading Destined , the newest book in the House Of Night Series, By P.C Cast and Kristin Cast.
I'm reading The SchoolIt's pretty good so far (I'm about two hundred pages in).
I love finding and reading old out of print 80s horror novels. It is amazing just how much stuff is out there.

I recently read the Turtle Boy and the second book, The Hides. I think there are more but haven't gottem to them yet. I liked them as well.

I love sci-fi, and am participating in a challenge where I pick the genre and someone else picks the book. I had actually been meaning to get to this some day, especially since I had read Robopocalypse. Wanted to see if they were similar at all. I'm just getting lost in all the jargon - maybe it's the fact that it was written in the 50's for a time period that just happens to now be contemporary, and I'm having trouble figuring out what terms are made up and what terms aren't. I'm getting too lost in the science. Too much terminology that either makes no sense at all or just makes no sense to me and not enough story.
That's just my opinion!
I'm reading Brent Weeks' Night Angel Trilogy, starting with the first one, The Way of Shadows, not so good so far, but others have told me its gets really get.
~ Sam ~ wrote: "I'm currently reading The Wheat Field~ It's really pornographic....I mean the detail is like Wooo I didn't need to know that...But it is still really good"I really enjoyed that one. Thayer has written some terrific books.
Todd wrote: "On the Kindle, I'm 24% into Freeze, and feeling the -10 weather in the story."
Ha! Heat wave.
I'm reading The Terror. They would bask in -10.

I'm reading The Terror. They would bask in -10."Chris, how are you liking it so far? I had no idea what those early explorers went through until I read that book. Can you imagine being stuck in the ice in your boat, for months and months at a time?
I'm liking it. I should finish it today....
I couldn't handle being stuck in the ice like that. I'm a Southerner. We don't know cold.

Chris, I am a northeastener and I 'thought' we knew cold. I KNOW I would go absolutely batty in a situation like that.
