What are you reading right now?
I'm think of adding The Hunger Games to my "to-read" list simply to determine if I like Mockingjay, or not..
Just finished The Strain, which was good but not great, and I'm now reading Unwind, which is showing real promise at 40 pages in :D
I finished The Beach, which I really enjoyed. Then I started It. This is my 3rd time through this one. I haven't read it in almost 20 years. This is my favorite King book. When I started reading it yesterday, I was getting the chills. This book scared the crap out of me when I first read it back in about '87. I think I was about 17 when I first read it.

You didn't feel compelled to jump right into The Strain's sequel?
Lena- while The Colorado Kid certainly isn't one of King's strongest stories (in terms of development,) I really enjoyed. Especially the mysterious aspects of it.
I'm currently in the middle of The Stand (which I mentioned in introductions) and am listening to The Good Earth.
Dustin wrote: "I'm think of adding The Hunger Games to my "to-read" list simply to determine if I like Mockingjay, or not.."If you've read the Millenium Trilogy and felt the third book didn't measure up to the first two, this is sort of like that, but worse.
BTW, I don't know if anyone else felt the same as I did about #3, but I don't feel Larsson was done. I felt like there were still unanswered questions :(
Lena wrote: "I'm about to start The Colorado Kid. Any opinions on it?"I just read that one not that long ago, I liked it well enough. My review is here, no spoilers. :)

I'm reading IT also. I have to put it down sometimes it is so disturbing. I saw the miniseries years ago when it first came out but never got around to reading the book. To this day, I hate clowns.
Lena wrote: "Thanks Kit. I like spoiler free reviews, but they are hard for me to write!"Me too! I always end up writing a book report lol.

I gave up writing spoiler-free reviews. I try not to summarize, but I write what i like/don't like about plot points that are spoilers. But I usually mark spoiler alert if I'm doing that!
Lena wrote: "I'm about to start The Colorado Kid. Any opinions on it?"I really enjoyed it. One of the reasons I liked it so much is that it is King's dabble into detective noir and I like the old school Raymond Chandler type of mystery. And once again, King does a fine job at telling the story. I have one complaint, but I'll save that until you are finished. ;)
I always have been lonely in my appreciation of "The Colorado Kid," Lena. It is an outstanding idea - and incidentally, an idea which the TV series that is supposedly based on this book, totally ignores. "Haven" has a neat little "paranormal" mystery, tidily solved in roughly 55 minutes.**** Maybe spoilerish, *********
The premise of "..Colorado .. is that there are some mysteries that CAN'T be solved.
Bondama wrote: "I always have been lonely in my appreciation of "The Colorado Kid," Lena. I have seen the show twice though. I can only watch it on Hulu, so now I am waiting for Netflix to make it available.
I would say your spoiler is more major than maybe. ;)
I've always had a hard time in commenting on that book, Lonnie, because for the life of me, I can't seem to figure out what to say about it without mentioning that premise - which, to be fair IS indeed a spoiler!

Argh! You're KILLING me, Smalls!
Courtney wrote: "I'm now reading Unwind, which is showing real promise at 40 pages in :D" I loved Unwind. I would also recommend Shusterman's Skinjacker Trilogy. That is bursting at the seams with awesomeness. I'm 100 pages into Rot & Ruin. So far, epic win.

I think Dani means this? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define...

(I don't know if I should be offended, more baffled, or what...)
I guess it was more frustration toward the books we'll never get. I've certainly got my knickers in a twist about that one. Well, can't be helped. Really a shame about Larsson; I thought I couldn't get into mystery/crime at all and I guess he changed my perspective on the genre.
From what I've gathered, the majority is not that fond of Dreamcatcher. But I loved it, (view spoiler) I should re-read it.
@Daniel--that's my favorite book EVER. I love it. I've yet to read Dreamcatcher (I've heard bad things) but I probably will at some point. The movie left a lot to be desired.

I agree! It was a cool book. (Better than the movie, Lena).
Yes, the relationships between the friends was what made it memorable. Not just the (view spoiler) monsters.

Yeah, the book has gotten bad critics but I'm reading the book anyway. Been wanting to read Dreamcatcher for years:)

Yes, I have read Dreamcatcher. I loved it very much.
If you've been interested in it for years, I'd go for it. I wouldn't fret too much over what the critics had to say about it, IMO.

Hi, Chris-
I wholeheartedly agree about the relationships making it a memorable story. It reminded me of It, actually, and the strong bonds forged between those characters.

I enjoy it so far. I've been wanting to see the movie too but I'm the kind of person who needs to read the book first. And it's been a while since I've read a book with aliens/mysterious lights:)
Dustin - Dreamcatcher/It (view spoiler)
I also prefer to read the books first. I'm sure that's why it took me years to get to reading Dreamcatcher. The movie spoiled it for me.
Same thing happened with The Shining. Though at the time, I didn't even know there was a book. The movie was new. We won't talk about how old that makes me.

Yeah I'm agree with both of you (Dustin and Chris)I must read the book before I see the movie adaption. The other way around is completely wrong - or at least for me. I want to imagine the characters myself instead of picturing the actors while reading a book.
