★ Jess | 49 comments I just finished The Running Man. It was fantastic!
I read it in less then 24 hours, and I just looked up the movie. I was extremely disappointed to see the plot and characters were 100% different. Has anyone seen the movie?

message 503: by Gayan (new)

yes, and it's bad. It's early Arnold, and it's cheese at it's finest. Don't do the book the injustice of watching it. Actually, on second thought, watch it - and appreciate how much more you love the written word than movies.

message 505: by Dustin (new)

Dustin I liked the film, actually. It's quite different from the story, but enjoyable, nevertheless.

Blair Witch scared me as well.

message 507: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Really, Erica!?!

message 508: by Erica (new)

Erica (bookpsycho) | 109 comments Yes, I can say it did. Hearing noises/faraway voices, and "what's lurking around the corner" tend to freak me out more than in your face stuff. I have a crazy imagination, and subtle stuff puts it into high gear. My husband laughs at me for admiting it.

I do like the movie The Running Man and love the story...two different reasons. Did anyone else kinda get reminded of The Running Man movie when they saw Tron? Maybe all those movies are similar.

***************SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!******************
The Blair Witch is pretty scary if you give yourself up to it, same with Paranormal Activity. I remember one day I went looking for my mom and found her in the basement, it looked like she was just staring at the wall, didn't respond when I called her name. Then turned around real quick and scared the crap outta me.

YES! Blair Witch is scary! Im only 15-and get scared by most horror movies, but still...the suspense is awful :S

But the scariest thing ive ever seen is the Australian movie 'Wolf Creek'
its suspenseful AND in your face.
Not even going to say anything else. Too scary for words.

message 513: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments I decided on The Shining by Stephen King . I'm about halfway through and I'm really loving it. It's giving me the heeby-jeebies, scaring me a little, and I haven't really been scared by a book in a while. And the little faceless boy on the cover of my copy is a little creepy too lol.

message 514: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Kit. I think it's wonderful that you're loving The Shining (it's one of my favorites!)

message 515: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Leighanne (sleighanne) | 16 comments I just finally finished It! I posted my review of it on my blog, but I think that the majority of the people in this group have read it, I'm just a bit behind :]

I started The Fellowship of the Ring yesterday and I'm trying SO hard to finish The Bone Woman. I think I might finish it today.

message 516: by Dustin (new)

Dustin As of late, I haven't read much of anything...unfortunately....

message 522: by Scott (new)

Scott | 401 comments I just finished Wizard and Glass. This is really an epic story.

I think I'm going to read Catching Fire next.

I need something lighter to read and by that I mean about 400 pages lighter.

message 523: by Kit★ (new)

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 612 comments I finished The Shining... loved it!
I just buzzed through The Colorado Kid (Hard Case Crime, #13) by Stephen King today. It was good, like sitting by the campfire listening to one of Uncle Stevie's stories. Quick paced, and I liked the characters. I even liked how it ended, because it's going to stick in my mind, I'm always going to wonder what happened to Cogan.
I know I should have been cleaning and doing laundry and going to the post office today, but I just couldn't keep myself away from finishing it.

message 524: by Dustin (new)

Dustin I really liked the mysteriousness of The Colorado Kid...

I didn't care for that one much, actually. I thought it had potential but fell short of what I had expected.

One that I really loved was Hold Me Closer, Necromancer - it was fun and witty, and different. I highly recommend it!

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) ★ Jessica ★ wrote: "I'm reading I Am Number Four, which is surprisingly fantastic!"

I saw a trailer for the film of I Am Number Four last night at the cinema. Not sure I like the idea of yet another good book being ruined by the movie world!

message 543: by Scott (new)

Scott | 401 comments I finished Catching Fire and this morning I started reading Monster. It has a really good beginning and has already sucked me in.

I think that the book read just like a movie, so I think it would translate pretty well. :)
