Brittomart My mom: What are you watching?
Me: (Opens mouth)
My mom: (Sees Woody Allen on the screen) Oh, I don't like nothing he play in. Walks out

Umm...alright.

That would be great on one of those quote-a-day calendars.

The teacher I work with this semester does a lot of tooting.

Naw, she's humble. But she's talked about her vegerarianism a lot so I think her diet is to blame. RA, you're a veggie: do you toot a lot?

Brittomart I hate it when there's a cute guy at the counter, and I'm buying cigarettes for my mom. You smell nice...these aren't for me!

Brittomart One time when I was at church (we don't go to that church anymore) the pastor told all of the "youth" to stand before the altar and raise their hands if they had any secrets or if they had ever lied to their parents.

I didn't raise my hand 'cause I was like...wtf?

ms.petra (mspetra) it is very hard to not ask a lot of questions when I see a female acquaintance with a black eye.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I got that oh-you-poor-thing look once. I was pregnant, at Christmas eve mass, wearing sweatpants and a man's button-down and sporting a Broken Arm. If you're pregnant they can't drug you and set your arm, they just stick it in a immobilizer/sling and hope the bone heals up. I think half of the women in that mass gave my husband the stink eye 'cause they assumed he had knocked me up and knocked me around.

Brittomart ...why the hell did I wear Mardi Gra beads to school in the 8th grade?

People, are you using your refrigerators?

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I've been outsmarted. When I stubbed my toe and said "sonofabasket" in front of my son, he responded, "baskets can't have kids."

Cambridge (hsquare) | 509 comments I just couldn't find it anywhere :( Thanks Barb, where was it? (thought it was in the general section, then I checked other to see if it moved) Usually topics stay front and center for a while before getting relegated to 'old news' . . .

message 442: by Cambridge (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Apropos of nothing, I think I'm spending so much time on TC today because my 18-year-old daughter is off getting her first tattoo. I'm not pleased, but I have to let her fly, right? At least she has the good sense to avoid the tramp stamp.

message 444: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart What's the tattoo of?

message 445: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments It's cover art from a young adult novel she read--some kind of blue swan. I'm dreading looking at it every time I look at her without sleeves. Mostly I am trying to be non-judgemental. I sort of know how my mom felt when I wanted to pierce me ears in 5th grade. She told me only prostitutes and loose women had pierced ears.

Cynthia wrote: "Apropos of nothing, I think I'm spending so much time on TC today because my 18-year-old daughter is off getting her first tattoo. I'm not pleased, but I have to let her fly, right? At least she ha..."

My daughter went when she was 18 too Cynthia. She called and said "Dad can I get a tattoo?" My response was "I don't see how I can stop you now, just make sure it is a legit parlor."

She got three connecting hearts on the back of her neck that shows when she has her hair up.

Yes you have to let them fly.

message 447: by Brittomart (last edited Aug 10, 2010 12:25PM) (new)

Brittomart I sent a text to my best friend one time that said "If I ever get really drunk, promise me that you'll stop me from getting 'Someday you will ache like I ache' tattooed on my arm or something."

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I had a friend that made her daughter tape a picture of the tattoo she wanted to the wall next to her bed and look at it for a full year (between the age of 17 and 18), just so she'd make sure it wasn't something she'd get tired of.
