Chachic I know it's not YA but I was just wondering if this series has any other fans in this group? I'm currently reading the second book but I think this is a great series, I liked the worldbuilding.

Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Magic Burns (Kate Daniels, #2) by Ilona Andrews Magic Strikes (Kate Daniels, #3) by Ilona Andrews Magic Bleeds (Kate Daniels, #4) by Ilona Andrews

Jo | 16 comments I love this series!! I've read the first three and am currently waiting for my library to get the fourth one in. I think the world that Andrews created is pretty amazing, and I really love the way she's portayed vampires. I'm not a big fan of the sexy brooding vampire, so the way she's written them appeals to me :)

Chachic I just finished the third book and I'm in love with this series! It's now my favorite urban fantasy series. I love both Kate and Curran! I can't wait to read the fourth book. I still can't stop thinking about Magic Strikes.

Jo | 16 comments The fourth book was awesome! I was sad when it ended, because now I'm going to have to wait a year for another one. Have you read the first one of her other series? It's called On the Edge and it looks like it should be interesting.

Did you know she's Russian? She didn't even learn English until she was a teenager?

Chachic I love the fourth book as well! When I finished, I re-read my favorite scenes. Just like you, I was sad when it ended because there aren't any more books in the series until the next one comes out. Although I really enjoyed reading the snippets for Magic Slays and the scenes from Curran's point of view.

I knew she was Russian but I didn't know she didn't learn English until she was a teenager. Ilona Andrews represents the husband and wife tandem behind the books, right? Ilona and Andrew Gordon, I think.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I'm starting this series this weekend, and I'm excited. I see a lot of Mercy Thompson fans also like this series. Is this one better or about equal?

Mercy Thompson is good, but not one of my favorites.

message 7: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Stacia, I haven't read the Mercy Thompson books so I can't really say if the Kate Daniels books are better or just the same. Hope you like them though!

message 8: by Jo (new)

Jo | 16 comments I've read both serieses and I like Kate Daniels a lot better. And they get better as the series goes on!

Chachic, I haven't actually read the bits from the next book yet, because I know they'll make me more impatient. I'm trying not to taunt myself unnecessarily! :P

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) There's a shifter cat in this one right, or am I thinking of the wrong series?

I'm a HUGE fan of Rachel Vincent's UF shifter series (black werecats) and think cats are much better than wolves.

message 10: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Joanna, I know what you mean but I can't help but read the snippets that they post on their blog. We're not even sure when the next book will come out!

Stacia, there's a lion shapeshifter in this book if that's what you're asking about.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm going to read the first book this month!

message 12: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Yay Peep! Would love to know what you think of it.

Jo | 16 comments Has anyone read On the Edge yet? It's the first book in another Ilona Andrews series.

message 14: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Not yet but I already have a copy of it. Also, I just found out that they have a novella available on ebook format:

Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments another series for me to check out. I love the Mercy Thompson series, so am very curious about this one...

message 16: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I finished the first book while camping and liked it. It's like the Mercy Thompson books, where you get sucked in your world and you meet all her friends and acquaintances. It's like Stephanie Plum (to me) because she gets into things where she's probably not the best detective for the job but she has lots of determination (and she's 100x tougher than Stephanie Plum). She was tough but not so tough that she annoyed me. I can't wait to start the second book.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Joanna wrote: "...Did you know she's Russian? She didn't even learn English until she was a teenager?"

I didn't know that! Though it would explain some of the words she used.

I read the second book and officially love this series. I can't wait for the third one. I loved the ending to this one! I wasn't planning on reading the third one (when i saw that there'd be 7 books). But then I saw the reviews and couldn't resist.

message 18: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Wow Peep, you read fast! I didn't declare my love for the series until the third book so you're in for a treat because the third is even better than the first two and the fourth is the best so far. :) Would love to hear what you think of them!

I'm reading On the Edge by the same authors and I'm liking it so far. At this point, I think I'll gobble up any of their work.

message 19: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Not that fast! I just have more time to read. Let me know how that book turns out, as I do like her writing. Wow, I can't wait for the third book! The reviews made me change my mind about not reading the rest of the books. Hopefully I can get to the next one soon.

message 20: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Still not done with On the Edge but hopefully I'll finish later. Peep, Ilona Andrews represent the husband and wife duo who write the books. Ilona Gordon and Andrew Gordon. :) Just saying because you might find it weird that I refer to them in plural form.

message 21: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I loved On the Edge as well! Peep, you might like this one since it's a standalone. Well, there's another book in the series but the main characters are different. I remember you were hesitant to start the Kate Daniels books because of the number of books in the series. Although not all Kate Daniels fans loved this one.

On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews

Here's my review if anyone wants to see it: http://chachic.wordpress.com/2010/08/...

message 22: by Jo (new)

Jo | 16 comments I can't wait to read On the Edge! I'm getting ready to move at the end of the month, so I'm trying to wait until that's over. I want to be able to just sit down and enjoy it instead of cramming it in when I'm so stressed out/busy.

message 23: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Good luck with your move, Joanna! I can just imagine how hectic that is.
