Getting to Know You

Where in the World?
Louise, I'm watching
The Killing
aka Forbrydelsen at the moment and I'm so tempted to ask if you saw it when it originally aired there. I'm desperate to find out who killed Nanna Birk Larsen. Best mystery (with maddening cliffhangers) I've seen since the first season of 24 and has some of the best acting I've seen in TV ever. They all deserve awards!
Do you REALLY wanna know? ;-)I don't watch much tv, and series I mostly watch on dvd so I don't miss any episodes. But it was very popular when it was on - so I know who the killer is.
Have you seen Firefly? That's one of my favourites :-)
I do! But don't tell me, I wanna be surprised. Is it Bremer? You can tell me if it's him. He needs be taken down, nasty little man. Or Theis's best friend and employee, Vagn, he acts all nice but he has a mean streak. Aaaaaaahhh, don't tell me! Don't tell me! I've been so good, I haven't gone in search of spoilers.I've seen most of the episodes of Firefly (I should probably get the DVD to see the one or two I missed) and I love Serenity. I've seen that movie so many times.
LOL @ Ames! I'm a big fan of Firefly and Serenity. Although, before I'd seen it I thought, space cowboys? Well, that's dumb. LOL! Ate my words.
I'm from Finland, where I've lived most of my life. Every winter I dream about spending all my future winters in Tuscany (Italy)... so maybe that's where I'll retire some day! The other option (the even warmer one) would be Thailand! :)
Johanna, if I had to pick between your choices it would be Tuscany. LOL. It's the history and the food as well as the sun. I'm assuming you want to split your year between Finland & sunny climes. Best of both worlds.

The water is so beautiful in Destin ;)) The water here is just plain ol YUCKY :0

If you want a good mystery, I highly recommend the first season of Veronica Mars.
Sandra wrote: "Johanna, if I had to pick between your choices it would be Tuscany. LOL. It's the history and the food as well as the sun..."I totally agree... and the flight to Finland is relatively short, too. :)

I know - that sounds very tempting, too! I've only visited Costa Del Sol... but I've always wanted to see Barcelona (and Gaudi's buildings!!!).
@Diane -I've only managed to watch an odd episode here and there of that show. I keep missing the re-runs. I'll have to make more effort now. ;)
Where are you living now? Seattle, WashingtonWhere are you originally from? Guangdong, China
Where would you like to retire to? Paris

That is one show that needs to be seen in order as the main mystery builds through the entire season while some smaller ones pop up here and there.

Very good reason!
Thanks for the warm welcome, Judithe and Steph. In Seattle it is always raining but these couple of days it feels like summer.
Right now i live in Turkey but originally im from Estonia. I dont know if i would be willing to move again, but lets see where life takes me :)
I live in Alaska, moved here from New Mexico. I would like to retire to southern Spain or South America.
That's exactly what my Uncle and his family did, Bobbi. They moved from Ruidoso, NM to Fairbanks. Definitely not for me (too cold), but looks beautiful there. How are you liking it? Was it hard to switch from warm, dry weather to blustery, cold?

I know who killed Nanna Birk Larsen! Thank you for not telling me. Best 20 hours of TV I've ever seen but I'm glad it's over, I was losing sleep over my all theories. Still, I can't wait for season 2 later in the year.
Steph wrote: "How are you liking it? Was it hard to switch from warm, dry weather to blustery, cold?"I guess this is a reply to both you and Sandra!
It was pretty hard to go from warm to cold the first winter. We wound up sleeping in the living room next to the fireplace and wearing beanies to bed! But now we're used to it and we nearly die when we visit NM in the summer. It would be so much worse to have gone to Fairbanks - it gets so much colder there!
We miss the warm/dark combo - when it's warm here it's light all night. But it's very beautiful here.
That's what my Uncle said, beautiful and he got used to it. "It's not that cold, sugar." Yeah, not buyin' it! -30F is TOO cold for me!
That's even colder for me. I've worn beanies to bed, when it got to about -1C whilst camping. *shiver*
Hi! I currently live in Eastern PennsylvaniaGrew up near Kansas City Missouri in farm country in a little town - population 1200
and if I get my way, I'll retire to Florida with the rest of the snowbirds... But that's still many many years away...
Add another Kansan! I've lived here in SW Kansas since I was 3 years old (26 now). Would like to go somewhere up north, like the dakotas, or down to OK where I was born.
I live in Pennsylvania, USA.I was born in Pennsylvania.
(I'll probably retire in Pennsylvania, too! If I can retire at all!! lol)
I'd LIKE to retire in Germany. My husband and I visited there several years ago and fell in love with the country, the people and the history. Plus, I love castles!
I live in Manila, Philippines! Mabuhay! LOL!
As for retirement, I would like to live in England or Italy. :)
I currently live in Austin Texas. I was born here, but have lived in Wichita Kansas and Tucson Arizona when I was much younger. My family moved back to Austin just before I started High School - eons ago! I went to college in Denton Texas and moved back to Austin after my daughter was born.I'll probably retire here, or in a smaller town nearby. Wouldn't mind living in a more rural area, but do enjoy being close to work and the grandkiddos school.
