Where are you living now? North CarolinaWhere are you originally from? California
Where would you like to retire to? IDK somewhere along the coast. I love the beach.
I've lived in Central Florida my entire life. While I love my home state, I'm a nomad at heart and my other half and I have plans to build a tiny house and travel the country while I write. Not exactly retirement, but good enough for me!
Where are you living now? Toronto, CanadaWhere are you originally from? Balkans
Where would you like to retire to? Dominican Republic
Hi, I live in a small town called Williamsburg about 35 miles outside of Cincinnati, Ohio. I have lived in and around Cincinnati my entire life and actually really love it here. My favorite thing about living here is that we get to experience all four distinct seasons...in the summer it is hot and humid, perfect for swimming. When autumn comes around the air turns slightly cooler then the leaves change colors and everything is just beautiful. During winter the temperatures plummet, sometimes to below zero even, and we can count on getting plenty of snow and ice on the ground for sledding or snowball fights. Then it is spring's turn to come back, bringing with it warmer weather, rain showers, budding flowers and new leaves on the trees...also plenty of wind for the kids to fly their kites. I'm sure it is like this in plenty of other locations as well, but for me this is home, and i love it.
Hi Joanne. Sounds ideal to experience all the seasons. Me, I love the warm sunshine and don't like the cold, though I do love the trees turning all the colours.Does Williamsburg have a lot of historic buildings and such? I seem to remember seeing something about it, and I'm sure it was Williamsburg. Though as an Aussie I could be totally wrong.

You may be thinking of Colonial Williamsburg which if I'm correct is in the state of Virginia. My favorite seasons are definitely summer and spring when it is warmest, but I think I would miss the winters and autumns if I lived somewhere else.
Well that makes sense :DI like Autumn but I could live without Winter easily and it only gets to around 40F less wind chill. At the moment it is 61F (4.30pm Monday) and I'm rugged up and looking forward to the log fire tonight. LOL.
Where are you living now?SW North Dakota

Living now in Russia. Originally from Ukraine. Want to retire in one of the following: 1. Russia. 2. Ukraine. 3. Antarctic. 4. China. 5. Australia. Weird, huh?
Hi I'm from Iceland, i currently live in Iceland and want to retire in Iceland. I'm a home grown sort of person that once i know where the bookstore is i'm perfectly happy there with no aspirations to move to some place where i don't know where the bookstore is.
I retired to live in Bărlad, Romania, a small eastern town close to the border of the Ukraine, and MoldovaI was born in Amarillo, grew up in Houston, then spent most of my life in Austin, Rockford (close to Grand Rapids) MI, and Duluth MN.
If Romanian immigration ever revokes my residence visa, I would like to live out the rest of my life in NW New Mexico, in the mountains.
Hey all, Im from California! I live in the northern mountains.I have been here my whole life. I live in a small town not too much more than 2,000. But the cities are not too far away.
I'd like to travel more, but that doesn't seem too be in the cards anytime soon.
Hi Sandra,I spiritually adopted two boys, whom the US Embassy refused to allow me to bring to the US. No orphans allowed! and Romania has disallowed adoptions by foreigners, so the only solution was for me to come here. They have since grown up, and I loved it and stayed after I retired. I now teach conversational English as a volunteer at a local middle school.
thank you Sandra, it was indeed the perfect solution. I do get homesick for America, often, especially for the beautiful Southwest. But I know I am in the right place, and I have my Kindle, so all is right with the world.
I live in Clyo Georgia. Pretty much country. 45 miles from Savannah Ga, where I grew up. Been out here for 12 years just before I got married. I was born in Iowa but my Dad went into military (Vietnam) and was stationed to Savannah Ga, so that's why I grew up there.
Glad you enjoyed Aus Sebastian, my hubby meets lots of Irish girls, predominantly, doing traffic control. And they all say the same, except for Christmas. They all want to be home at Christmas. Family I can understand but it sounds so cold and wet then.Hope you get to move to a city soon.
hmm it seems like my country is not represented in SOS yet.. I am from Czech Republic :) was born here and not sure where to retire yet.. but oh well I do have about 40 years to decide it :)
Born and raised in Sweden, but I currently reside in Los Angeles, so.... What country do I represent? :D
We track where members are currently living on the maps (in post 1). But we also like hearing where everyone's from as well. :)
I've updated our maps, including the lists of US states and world countries where our members are located. Amazing! Thank you all for joining us!
I live in Webster, New York, just outside of Rochester. I grew up in a small town about 35 miles from Rochester. I am retired and plan to stay right here, although we are planning on downsizing.I love to travel and have been to many countries but always return to this area.
Sandra wrote: "Natasha, just across the ditch. I've been to both north & south islands, whereabouts are you?"Im in Temuka, 2hrs South of Christchurch :-)
Natasha, I remember Christchurch as being a lovely city in the Autumn, with all the trees turning, we flew out from there.Such a shame the earthquake & liquifaction ruined a lot of it :(
Hope you were far enough away not to be effected.

Yeah it was a shame I grew up around Christchurch city so I have a lot of friends in and around the area. Thankfully they were ok. we felt both quakes was a little surreal, don't realise what is happening till it was over.
Where are you living now? New JerseyWhere are you originally from? New Jersey
Where would you like to retire to? New Jersey
I'm sensing a theme here. There are plenty of places I would love to visit and maybe even live for a few years, but New Jersey will always be my home.
I currently live in the middle of nowhere, MichiganI was born and raised in Chicago, IL
I think I'd like to retire somewhere in Canada

*I'm from California and have always been here except for when I studied abroad in Japan.*Retire... I'm not sure yet. Hopefully I have the opportunity to travel around the US more so I can figure it out.
I currently live in MAOriginally from NY but never really lived there
Where would I retire...it'll not likely happen due to cost but San Francisco would be my choice.
I live in New Orleans, y'all. Yeah you rite!!Originally, I'm from Kingston, Jamaica. Add JA to the list, man!
As for where I'll retire: I won't, unfortunately. But the place I'll end up at the end of my life will hopefully be Jamaica with my mother. :)
I grew up in Bartonville, IL, a small village that is famous for an insane asylum. It was closed in the '70s but it still stands. I currently live in Mapleton, IL. I didn't go far...literally the other side of my street is Bartonville. In a perfect world, I will retire to somewhere in the countryside of Ireland and you'll find my nearly every day in a little pub with a book in hand drinking lots and lots of Smithwick's. In reality, I can probably only get my husband as far as southern Maryland so that will have to do :)
Sandra wrote: "Me too Graeme :)"Hi Sandra, from your profile, you are a huge, voracious reader - around a book a day. That's amazing.
Born, raised and currently still living in Tennessee. Since the majority of my family is here , this will more than likely be my retirement spot as well.
I live in Colorado. I grew up half in Colorado and half in Texas. (Texas from birth-age 3, Colorado from 3-13, Texas from 13-20, Colorado 20+).
I'm now nearly 41 and have lived in Colorado most of my life.
I expect to retire here. I love where I live.
