Maggie K | 730 comments I think Jon's parentage is a valid mystery in this series...one of the things that keeps me interested! Id have to do a re-read to validate my theories on it though...lol

message 202: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Maybe it is too obvious, but I don't think so, I'm inclined to think the same, Nicki. (view spoiler)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Agreed. Naivete doesn't make a good Queen.

I may be spoiling it for myself because I'm only 1/3 into ASoS but What is Brienne? (view spoiler)

OR: Will I find out in this book? Know that would be good enough.

message 209: by Dawn (new)

Dawn (breakofdawn) Ummm, I don't think it's really a spoiler at all, but regardless... (view spoiler)

message 210: by Jackie (last edited May 19, 2011 02:34PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Thank you, Dawn.
That helps because it was driving me nuts. Now I can put it out of my mind. At times I thought she was other than what she appeared to be. (view spoiler)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Wow. A lot to discuss here. I think I'll stick to Jon Snow and Dani: (view spoiler)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments That's the way I'd like to see it, Dawn!

message 215: by [deleted user] (new)

Everything that happens after book 1 is just Bran's fevered dreams.

He never woke up.

message 216: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Now that would really piss me off.

message 217: by Jason (last edited May 19, 2011 03:44PM) (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments LMAO. Me too, Jackie!

If that happened, I would feed the book to my dog and pretend it was never published. Which is something I've never done...

message 218: by [deleted user] (new)

Could you imagine the outcry if that was on the final page of the final book?

The most epic of trolls ever trolled.

message 219: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat | 0 comments It would be hilarious though, in a sort of awful way.

message 220: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments It wouldn't matter if Martin were sick or not. The people would find out where he lives and they would chop off his head, like Ned Stark would (no pun intended)...

LOL

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Denae wrote: "It would be hilarious though, in a sort of awful way."

Martin's last revenge.

"The joke's on you, fuckers!" LOL

message 222: by [deleted user] (new)

If I were him, I'd still do it even knowing that it was my death warrant at the hands of Fantasy Fans everywhere.

message 223: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Just shave the beard and go into exile. You'd be laughing all the way. Drunk as a skunk. LOL

message 224: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments His reputation as an author would be shot to shit. He'd never sell another book under his own name again.

message 225: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments Indeed.

I don't think his editors would allow that. Even if he went insane in the end.

message 226: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh I'd hunt him down, kill and eat him. Well...not eat him...God think of the cholesterol...

message 227: by Jackie (last edited May 19, 2011 06:00PM) (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments LMAO
That was so mean...I love it.

message 228: by [deleted user] (new)

What if he wrote the final book with the troll ending then just put it in a safe until after he passes away. Puts in his will that the publisher has to release it as is or they don't get the book.

And thus, troll his entire fandom from beyond the grave.

Man, I'd pay to see that happen.

message 229: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments The fan reaction, including my own, would be so funny.

message 230: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat | 0 comments You know, even better would be if it turned out to just be a story Old Nan was telling him.

message 231: by Jesslyn (new)

Jesslyn (jesslynh) | 18 comments OMG and WTF! With book number 5 getting released in July, I'm rereading the series--moving happily along and on #3. Are Goodreads and Wiki correct in listing that TWO MORE BOOKS ARE PLANNED ANFER #5?!

If so, I'm moving on to something else now. I can't go through the wait again.

Somebody talk me off the ledge. Please.

message 232: by Maggie (new)

I wouldn't mind that, it would still be a story. Somebody's got to tell it, why not Old Nan? Better than a rip-off dream cheat.

So Dance with Dragons is NOT the last book? Heavy sigh, I'm moving on.

message 238: by [deleted user] (new)

Dance with Dragons is book 5 of like 7. Possibly 8-10.

it never ends

message 239: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) | 857 comments Ok, that just ruined my day ;)

message 240: by [deleted user] (new)

message 245: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3204 comments I thought they called you Ala, Grant?

message 246: by [deleted user] (last edited May 20, 2011 03:28PM) (new)

Oh I'm chock full of names. Grant is just one of my middle names (tho it is what I go by in daily life). My first name is Charles. My other four middle names are McCleod Conner Drake and Greystoke and I'm a Jr. to boot! My army buddies call me Tank. My frat brothers call me Professor and G-Love. My old baseball mates call me Bud. My old high school ne'er do well friends call me Anubis. So Ala is just the newest in a long line of monikers ;)

message 247: by whimsicalmeerkat (new)

whimsicalmeerkat | 0 comments I can top this, not with quantity, but with sheer absurdity:

my middle name is Markieta

message 248: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments my frat brothers called me Gay Mark. or The Homo. or Lucky Louie (apparently the middle guy in a 3-guy, er, 'sandwich'). actually, they still call me Lucky Louie from time to time. clearly i surround myself with gentle & sensitive friends.

and i'm not even all gay! i think they were just jealous of my awesome style and my natural ease with the ladies. ah, college - those sweet, sweet memories, LOL. go, Sigma Alpha Mu!

message 249: by [deleted user] (new)

What's wrong with Markieta?

also, mark, you're only half gay?

message 250: by mark (new)

mark monday (majestic-plural) | 380 comments that's just my kind of silly way of putting it. "bi" would be the correct word. or even "queer".
