What Are You Currently Reading?
Yeah, but it was their Revan.
But he didn't play Revan the way I did.

I know he is the lead writer and a bigwig at Bioware which makes me very (VERY!!!!!!!) nervous about Mass Effect 3.
Depending how that game ends I might need to be put on suicide watch. :)

I like it so far. About 100 pages in.

I gave up on The Steel Remains, it was just a bit too dark and brutal..."
Yes, I like Liam too. I love the pace and writing of the book, so much can happen in just a few pages.
I actually just finished Steel Remains. I liked it, but not as well as The First Law series, which I saw it compared to. "
Prince of Thorns has been compared to the First Law Trilogy as well - but I don't think it fits. Not near as much action or descriptive fight scenes, just has the violence. An update... I'm actually almost done with Prince of Thorns, hope to finish it today, then I can make up my mind about the book.

I have been really enjoying this trilogy - my first GG Kay. Currently finishing up the audio for The Darkest Road... just haven't had time to listen lately. Beautiful prose and Simon Vance does the narration - he really is top notch for audio.

1. Dune (Herbert)
2. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
3. The Once and Future King (TH White)
4. Sherlock Holmes
5. The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles)

The thing is that I adore fantasy with a burning passion(dramatic, much?) but I don't do too well with science fiction. As soon as I start reading about spaceships, laser guns, or alien planets, my brain checks out and I start to plot the best way to kill a man with a shovel...or something like that.
I don't know if I could manage it now, as I have had a killer headache for three days and I haven't slept in a while. I'm thinking this may not be the best time to pick up anything by China Miéville.
Maybe I'll just continue on with The Hero of Ages. There, I'm convinced.
Damn, I'm just spouting nonsense...
To bed!

The cover of this book really intrigues me, but I have heard such mixed reviews.
I am listening to

Hey Chelsea, I'm sorry it's turning out not to be your cup of tea. Since you have expressed a desire to see more - I think you'll find that the series gets better as it goes on. I've always designed the last book to be the best so things escallate with each book. It's unconventional to design the earlier books to be weaker than the later ones but I wanted a "big finish".

Michael, I'm so glad that the book has you excited. So far it has been VERY well received...I'm honored that Library Journal selected it for their Top 10 Best Scifi/Fantasy reads of 2011. Considering all the great works that came out this year I'm amazed that they chose to shine a light on my little project. I also just found out from my publisher that the first two books are already into a second printing even though they have only been out for a few weeks! Very exciting indeed! Please be sure and let me know what you think of ToS.

Hi Michael, I hope I find each one more enjoyable as I go. There are aspects I really like, don't get me wrong, and thinking about all the things that could potentially happen is really exciting. I don't want to clog up the thread with a dissertation on my observations, so I'll post a review when I'm done.
I'm genuinely glad for your success, and I hope I enjoy the other books more!

My cousin said it was astounding, and "the complete package" as far as incorporating romance, action, magic, imagery, etc. I'm going to stick it on the ipod as soon as my current audiobook is done.

I'll be getting to The Night Circus in a week or so. It really seems like something I'll like. *hoping* *hoping* *hoping*. I haven't been blown away by a book for awhile. Going through withdrawels.

I know so many people read that book, it seems that everybody just ignores her other books. I would also recommend you to read The Ear, The Eye, and The Arm if you liked The House of the Scorpion.

Finished it! While the heroine got a bit on my nerves, the story & the hero made it well worth the read...hope that helps!
It's not as intense as her YA books, but the writing is still wonderful.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone? I've heard good things but am far, far down on the library waiting list. Sadness.

The cover is beautiful...not that I judge a book by it's cover or anything.

I agree with you Kevin. I have heard many good things about Farmer. I have wanted to read A Sea of Trolls. Its just my library doesn't have many of her books. I will have to check out your suggestion.

I am listening to The Name of the Wind and reading Storm Born and Lord John and the Scottish Prisoner

So jealous. I'm at work, listening to people whine about things.

It is good so far, I am loving it!

That's good to know Dustin.

That's good to know Dustin."
Good, I'm glad.

Having had a no reading day yesterday I'd probably be easy to catch up with. :)
I love the "visuals" so far of the book. A very interesting read. Loving the style.

So did mine. I'll join in as well.

Anita Blake definitely went south for me as well. I have to admit I tend to burn out on the werewolf/vamp series pretty fast as so many seem to just degenerate into increasingly splashier blood and violence.
My latest 'find' that has, so far, not gone south has been the Skinwalkerseries.

So far, so good. I'm waiting for the next one to come out and plan to get it.
