I think my thing with Shakespeare is more like overload. I had to take a course in college, pure Shakespeare. I liked it before that...

Tracey wrote: "Did she say "God willing and the creek don't rise"? I love finding people who say that."I believe you mean "Lord willin' and the creek don't rise." I have been known to say this. "High as a cat's back" as well. My grandmother uses the phrase "moving so slow the dead lice are falling off" which I kind of love.
Interesting variations. My mother and grand mothers used the "you're moving (actually movein') so slowly (actually "so slow" instead of "slowly") it looks like the dead lice are (is)fallin' off".
My boyfriend told me the other day he didn't know if he wanted broken tuna when I said I was thinking about fixing tuna. He also regularly makes fun of my pronunciation of caramel.
Mike (the Paladin) wrote: "Interesting variations. My mother and grand mothers used the "you're moving (actually movein') so slowly (actually "so slow" instead of "slowly") it looks like the dead lice are (is)fallin' off"."My aunt used to say that!
and
"Moving like molassas in January"
and the best one I've ever heard was by a teacher in Middle school:
"Fast shitting dogs don't last long"
We were all like "oooooh! You said a bad word!" LOLIt means something like "a hard head makes a tender behind."
Finished A Hundred Words for Hate by Thomas E. Sniegoski, and started Uncertain Allies by Mark Del Franco. What would I do without my detective urban fantasy novels? The world would be a sad place!
On behalf of MrsJ, "told ya so" :)

I was gonna get to it eventually... *mumblegrumble*

Almost halfway through Territory - it's kind of slow, but still readable. Not sure what's next, but I flipped through the first few pages of Grunts at a bookstore and decided that I need it in my life. :D

Ala-I really loved that one...lots of action that keeps going! I think you will like it too!
Kit★ wrote: "I just started The Magicians and Mrs. Quent
, only on pg 2 so far."I enjoyed this, despite its obvious derivativeness. I preferred to think of it as a homage. :>

I have both of those, got them a few weeks ago.
I really need to stop buying until I've read what I have...

I'm with you there, Ala! Yesterday, I bought 3 more books and snuck them into the house and on to my tottering bookshelf, hoping my hubby wouldn't notice. *sigh* Books are just so irresistable!
My next 'must have' book is being released June 10th. Need to find something else to order so I'll get free shipping from Amazon ...And I'm looking longingly at an out-of-print art book and drooling!

That's what happens when they block Goodreads at work. I can read at work, just can't go online and chat at work. I'm pretty swamped right now. :(
Just read a good 400 pages in Paladin of Souls yesterday. I like it even better than The Curse of Chalion which is the best book I've read this year.
These two were the first fantasy books by Bujold I'd read. I got hooked on her sci-fi first (Vorkosigan series) but I was blown away by The Curse of Chalion and agree that Paladin of Souls was even better. The third, set in the same world but about totally different characters and perhaps in a different time, I didn't think was as good as the other two, but still eminently readable. I like the way she has taken minor characters from the first book and built the storyline of the second book around them, referring to the first characters, but the storyline does not depend on them in any way.
I keep hoping she will continue with this series at some point. She's set it up so she certainly could as it's obvious there are more stories to tell. I'd really like to find out what the soldier does with his demon!

I'm such a tard for not reading these sooner...

I'm loving 'em a lot.
It's like Paramilitary Urban Fantasy with some comedy and plenty of ass kicking.

Face, head, neck, chest, legs, arms. Plus there's chopping and cleaving and slicing and dicing.
And the guns, man. The guns...
And plenty of explosions.
And the vampires? They only sparkle when they're on fire.

Ka-pow! Someone's getting it in the face and they won't like it. :-PAla, I'm glad you're enjoying them! Now you can wait with me for the next book. :-)
It was all a trap, eh MrsJ? Couldn't stand to wait alone, so you dragged me in with your web of deceit!
I hope the wait isn't too long...

Jason wrote: "I'm going to have to read these, if they're that fun!"Jason, half way through book 1 you'll realize that you are having a BLAST. A few hours later you'll have to pick up book 2. If' you're really, really strong you'll put off book 2 for (at most) a month.
Lol I started book 2 about 30 seconds after finishing the first ;)
I'm loving Assassin's Apprentice so far, as well as Then We Came to the End. Need to start A Room With a View and Tigana too.
