There's a bit of me in both of them, but of course they're both fictional creations. I share some of Kit's insecurities but in Kit I exaggerate them to comic proportions.
At least I hope they're comic!

I just finished Dangerous Ground series and I really enjoyed them. I loved the pace with all the action tied with romance and a little comedy. Old Poison was pretty steamy and Blood Heat was heartbreaking!! Kelila was cute. I can't wait for their next adventure together.
Josh, do you know how long I'll have to wait?! :)

That's a series I always enjoy writing. Heather, I think the fourth book will be out mid-summer or so. That's what I have on my calendar and that's what I'm aiming for.

Jon;
Fair Game is the book that introduced me to Josh's writing. I loved it! Here's to hoping we get a sequel. [raises glass]

Hey there, Jon. Nice to hear from you again.
I'm delighted you enjoyed Fair Game. That one did seem to go over pretty well. *g*
I do plan on a sequel -- in fact, I have most of the story planned out -- but having considered this year's schedule and my commitment to fewer projects, I think it's more likely to happen in 2012.
Thanks so much for asking!

Leah, the next book is called Fair Play and it follows what happens after Roland's book about his wild past is finally released. It turns out some people would prefer that the past stay the stuff of legend.

That was the first of Josh's books that I read as well--it's currently on my 'to be read again' list. I'm so happy to hear that there will be a sequel, even if we have to wait till 2012!
Josh, I wanted to say how much I loved "Out of the Blue". I like war themed romance so when I browsed your site for the next book to buy and saw its "military" cover, I clicked "buy" without reading the summary. I liked the story so much! It doesn't have mystery element but I actually like it. I mean, the lack of it helped concentrating on the relationship factor. It's so beautiful and dramatic and intense. I loved the characters and the story and wanted more of them :) Do you plan writing more war themed books? Or maybe you have written and I just missed them? I've seen the word "Afghanistan" in summary for "I spy", but I didn't read the entire text (they are a bit spoilerish for me).

OMG! "His for the Holidays" is released in audio format! THANKS! \o/

I think that book will offer readers something they often ask for but I rarely do which is showing the sleuthing from two guys already involved in and working through a romantic relationship.

Yes. I keep forgetting to mention that. I haven't bought it myself yet, but I plan on it. I'm very curious to hear how it turned out!

I started a short story once, Sarah. It just didn't work for me. But I might take another crack at it one of these days.

Thank you, Tara. I try to make each scene emotionally unique. Physically, there's only so much you can do, but emotionally...every person is different so I try and bring that to the scenes of intimacy between my characters. I'm glad it works for you!

Suhi, OTB is one of my favorites too -- maybe because it was so challenging to write, and I thought the result was fairly decent.
I don't write a lot of military-themed stuff. I have a story in the Because of the Brave anthology through Aspen Mountain Press.
The I Spy books aren't military. Mark is an ex-spy. So they're not my usual fare -- no mystery -- but they're not really military either.

Thank you for the info, I'll buy Because of the Brave next then :) And I Spy series too - I'm curious how's is it without mystery. There wasn't any in OTB and the story was awesome. Not fairly decent - awesome :D

Thank you for that. I find the Great War almost unbearably tragic and some of that probably seeps through.

Jon, if you like the who-dunnits then I recommend the Adrien English series -- or if you like a lighter touch, the Holmes & Moriarity series.

The Ghost Wore Yellow Socks is also a traditional mystery. The other stuff ranges mostly from romantic-suspense to action-adventure.

That's one of those funny books that some people love and some people just seem to dislike with an irrational passion. What I remember mostly about that one is the fun I had with the setting and the cast of crazies.

I'm on the 'loved it' side!

Yes! But smart and proactive too--I loved that Nick kept discovering there was more to Perry than met his eyes.

I was confused on whether a member of the Marines could become a SEAL--I thought that was generally the Navy or Coast Guard, while a Marine would go into a Force Reconnaissance company. But I'm no expert--and maybe Perry isn't either, lol. (In fact, I was wondering if that was the point. I don't think Nick ever confirmed the Marine connection; he may have been rolling his eyes.)

Yes, Perry's just young and sheltered (and obsessed with his art) he's not stupid or weak.

Originally Nick was just a marine. I forget why I ended up changing him to a Navy Seal -- so all the slogans and stuff were still based on the fact that he was a marine.
I've read different things, but I think the simplest method would be leaving the marines and reenlisting in the navy. Since Nick enlisted young and was career military -- and was just looking to be part of the toughest and the best -- it didn't seem to me unreasonable that he might decide Navy Seals were more his style.

That's a hard one for me because I think of TGWYS as distinctly different from my other mysteries -- Perry is probably the youngest and most inexperienced character I've written, and the mystery itself is very traditional.
I'm stumped. Everyone eventually reads teh Adrien English books, so maybe those?

Thanks so much for the answer!
After I posted the question, I ran into a friend from my synagogue who's a retired SEAL, and he said the same thing: since the Marines have their own special ops and don't go through BUD/S training, you'd have to cross services and re-enlist with the Navy. (And yeah, I can see Nick doing that!)
I was thinking that since the repeal of DADT, one aspect of Nick's past will become anachronistic--and what a good thing that is! (Hopefully within a generation people will be wondering what the heck the fuss was all about.)

Thanks, Josh. I've already read Adrien and I miss him soooo much!! :) I'm really leaning to TGWYS, so I'll let you know!

A new PC! That's always fun :o)

Sometimes in a book about a "Kevin" I find an odd, lonely and surprising "Eric" and I have to wonder where he came from. Probably from a careless "search & replace."

Usually if a name isn't right, it'll bother me too much to go on without fixing it. The only time I can remember changing after the book was complete was for I Spy Something Bloody. Mark's original name was Nate, short for Nathaniel. My editor thought it sounded too much like Nathan from Snowball in Hell which was coming out around the same time or had just come out...something like that.
Anyway, I changed it.
I've occasionally typed the wrong name -- the villain in The Hell You Say switches from Garibaldi to Grimaldi and the editor, copyeditor, line editor and I all missed it.

I'd tell you that you get used to it, and that Windows 7 has its advantages ...
but I think I'll save my breath (being an XP/Kubuntu user myself), even if my kids seem to like Windows 7.
Then again, you can always install XP on your new PC (or go linux)

OMG Josh, get the freaking Mac already! You will never have these problems again. :) Then you can concentrate on what you do best!

This is just something I found out today; Laura is continuing w/the next book in the series. There might be a new collaborator or she'll probably write it on her own-she says she'll start work on it in the late summer. How's that for good news?! :D
I'm getting used to the bloody thing now. I hate that there is no desktop icon and I hate the numbers of copies it makes when it moves stuff from directories. I'm sure part of it is pilot error but I have FIVE copies of every piece of music, three copies of all my photos, etc. And I can't seem to change it from two clicks to open programs to one.
