Sharon Ellis | 22 comments can anyone tell me why the TAGS have been removed froom three books I wrote. The TAGS were removed from hard copy books about three months ago, but left on my Kindle edition. Now today, my TAGS have been removed from my Kindle edition too. WHY?? how can I contact someone to know what to do? Anyone had this happen to them? :( Big unhappy face

Stephen Fraser (stephen_b_fraser) | 50 comments Sharon wrote: "can anyone tell me why the TAGS have been removed from three books I wrote."

Amazon has removed all tags across all books unsure if this is temporary or not. Have talked to customer service and they said first it was due to people falsely inflating their book rankings. Then she changed and said it was due to new changes.

Sharon Ellis | 22 comments thank you for this information Stephen. :(... a bigger unhappy face. sigh. well, how about the rest of you?? have your "TAGS" been removed from your books, too?? thanks, please share info.!!

Alan Dapre (alan_dapre) | 8 comments They're probably looking at this Goodreads site very carefully as it's competition ... and they won't like this self-tagging lark. Even though it's playing within the rules. Why do we authors have to jump through so many sodding hoops to get our stuff noticed?

If you want to see my own self published books feel free to click on my name above.

Stephen Fraser (stephen_b_fraser) | 50 comments Keep in mind if you look at it from amazons side of things. Indie publishers sell one book for a $1.00 they pocket 20 cents, Publish house sale for a $1.00 they pocket 50 cents. Plus they make money on shipping if it is a bound copy. We are just pennies in the fountain for Amazon.

Actually if you sell one book for a dollar, Amazon pockets 65 cents and the author gets 35 cents. Pretty good incentive for Amazon to support indie authors in my opinion.

message 1157: by Stephen (new)

Stephen Fraser (stephen_b_fraser) | 50 comments I was figuring on the 70% commission rate, But it still goes that they make more money on Big publishers than they make on indie publishers.

message 1158: by Jason (new)

Jason Matthews (jason_matthews) The 70% commission rate is for the authors while Amazon makes 30% when books are priced between $2.99 and $9.99.

Stephen Fraser (stephen_b_fraser) | 50 comments Right I was using the $1.00 figure to make the math easier. I'm not discounting the fact that Amazon is a good tool. I just think that to many authors think they will get rich overnight. All they need is one book. There is so much more to it than that. It was quite an eye opener for me when I started.

Hey J.J. Tagging someone's books allows for people to find that person's book when they type in the tagged word into a search engine or on amazon. For example, tagging the word "children's books" on a children's book will help people that type those words in to find that particular book.

You can find the tags on a person's book by typing "tt", and it should move your screen to the tag menu, but for some reason I've been having trouble with this feature on Amazon with some people's books lately. Sometimes tags will already be listed, and you can either click on those tags to add them, or you can type in your own.

Here are mine If you'd like to try to tag and like mine. Hopefully it works.. If not, I think the like button still works for mine. The like button is at the top of the screen close to the author name.

My name is Kait Neese and I am the creator of this wonderful group of ours! I work full time with my publishing firm and work this Goodreads group as a side project because I really do love the concept of authors being in charge of their own success. However I have a responsibility/duty to my direct authors and my employers to make sure that comes first - which I am sure you can understand.

I have so enjoyed watching this group grow and authors around the world coming together to help one another out. So a big thank you to everyone out there who is taking their success into their own hands and realizing other authors are not the enemy and that working together will take you so much further than working against one another. (Ok ok end of cheesy moment, smile)

I posted a thread a few months ago about what three things matter most to you, as an author, that a publisher could do to help you out. Really help you out. I had some great feedback and really appreciate the comments made! (The post can be found by clicking here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...)

That being said I noticed a few authors mentioned distribution as something they would like publishers to help out more with. I do quite a bit of traveling to international book fairs and specialize in helping authors and sm/medium sized publishers “go global”.

I will be hosting a webinar on book rights (translation rights) and distribution into China on August 6th at 2:00 pm EST. I wanted to give my appreciation and gratitude to all of the authors in this group for their continued dedication and participation on these threads so I thought this might be a really cool thing to do. (Free of charge of course : )

Please see my latest thread for more information on what we will be discussing and how to sign up here: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

Hope you can make it!

Linda Kallestein (lindamayk) | 41 comments Grab this books for your childrens they'll surely love them
Baby animals are cuddly and adorable. This pictures book consists of beautiful color photographs of 10 different baby animals. Each one starts with the question of what the baby of an animal is called, to engage toddlers so they can learn a little about animals. And hopefully fall helplessly in love with them.http://www.amazon.com/Baby-Animals-Ad...

Everyone loves animals. So do we. That's why we want to share this love with kids. "The Small Mice of Homesville" is a read aloud story for young children, or an easy-reader for beginning readers.
http://www.amazon.com/Small-Mice-Home...

In this picture book, beautiful color photographs of animals from all over the world are combined with the alphabet. One animal for each letter of the alphabet. Toddlers learn the alphabet in a fun way when they recognize the animals. And hopefully fall helplessly in love with them.http://www.amazon.com/Animal-Kingdom-...

"The Story of Little Birdy" is a very sweet short story about a baby bird my husband and I rescued and raised for 3 weeks. It is full of pictures showing her growth and the bond we shared. It is a very cute story for children but can be appreciated at any age. It is also available on Amazon for Kindle.

message 1175: by Charlie (new)

Charlie B. on another tack I'm finding that I can no longer search on amazon UK for my books by title, even when I include my author name. all I get is that the book is unavailable.
it is however available via the author page.
amazon getting funny about erotica?
I'd suggest you all check out you own books on amazon UK if you write erotica and have experienced a downturn in sales.
I'm awaiting an explanation from amazon now.

Congrats on getting published. Just a quick note that might help you - you can get a free universal link for Amazon by following the link below. I use it for all my books, and you can do it for your author pages, too. It will help when posting links for your book as when people click on it, it takes them to your book on their Amazon. Good luck with all the promotion, as you say, it is the worst part. Have a great day. Lyneal. :) http://www.booklinker.net/

Hu Nabe | 5 comments Hi Rebecca,
I have a feeling that this thread (i posted just a few above you) was started at a time when 'tagging' was something that could be done on amazon.com and is a feature that has since been dropped. I was excited by the prospect as well. Amazon's ranking system is pretty advanced, I've seen them drop reviews from people's pages as well, in efforts to prevent people from gaming their ranking system.
