I hate that I thought the group Warriors Lovers was about the 70's movie

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Seriously. I feel like an idiot.

Come out and plaaaay...

Lori Who is the idiot? I never even heard of that movie!

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Kind of a cult movie about New York street gangs.

There is a running comment by a DJ (think Do the Right Thing) that adds a surreal tone.

Sort of a thin plot, the NYC gangs outnumber the police and they are going to war after a prominent gang leader is killed.

Lots of footage of New York, especially Coney Island.

Since it was a cult movie (based on a book) I thought, "Wow! There are people that into it to start a group?".

Then I looked at the page and realized it was about a young adult book series.

Again, feeling silly.

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Given that it is about cats I probably would have read them when I was young.

I used to list "Cat" as what I wanted to grow up to be and had a whole rationale for how it was possible, how I could still earn a living, have a relationship...

The feeling was more one of those when you wave to someone you think you know and realize they are a complete stranger.

Dave Russell Did you understand that being an orphan meant your parents were dead?

message 6: by Tesse (new)

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Oooh! I went through an orphan phase too!

I read a great deal of fairy tales and loved Pippi Longstocking.

message 7: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell I wanted to join the Starfleet.

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Crapazola. I just squealed in print.

Yes, Dave.

The orphan fantasy for me was a total one; different parents, different country, different background altogether.

So no harm, no foul to my parents.

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) No, I haven't (Tillerman series) Sarah.

Would my local library have them?

message 10: by Tesse (last edited Jun 12, 2008 10:36PM) (new)

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Starfleet?

In what capacity did you wish to serve?

I would want to be a science officer.

I have a tricorder that lights up and makes the cool tricorder noise.

Sometimes I aim it at the cat and she haaates it, it has little cat tooth and claw marks all over it.

Yes, I am a big ol' nerd.

Thanks for the recommendation, Sarah. I have a bit more "free" time in the next few months since I'm just working and not taking classes.

Lori Dave wanted to be a red shirt.

message 12: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell I wanted to look into that thing that Spock was always looking in. The thing with the blue light.

message 13: by Lori (new)

Lori I wanted to be a spy.

message 14: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell Tesse, very cool.

Sarah, the one with Henry Thomas and Dabney Coleman?

message 15: by Tesse (new)

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Harriet the Spy was also a favorite.

Why, thank you Dave.

Yes, I have heard that nerds are the new cool but I think I miss cool by a few marks, which is fine.

message 16: by Lori (new)

Lori Oh dear, it wasn't Harriet the Spy. For me it was Bond. James Bond. I was mesmerized, I saw them pretty young on the big screen. From Bambi straight to early Bond!

message 17: by Tesse (new)

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) There's a title for a memoir: From Bambi to Bond (The Early Life and Times of Lori)

message 18: by Lori (new)

Lori ROFL!
