Dave Roberts | 7 comments I read this in the late 70s. The intended audience is kids probably in grades 4-6. The story involves a boy who gets a job or finds a reason to spend a lot of time in a local cemetery. The books has tons of humorous/interesting epitaphs that the boy finds on the graves. There are a couple of feuding brothers, and a mystery of some sort. Also a number of illustrations.

Might have been published by Scholastic. Dark dark red was a prominent color in the cover if I remember, and it was a paperback.

Thanks in advance for any help on this one.

Dave Roberts | 7 comments I'm pretty sure that's it! I found the cover on google image search. Even though the coloring is different, the cover image looks the same (possibly a difference between hardback and softcover).

Thanks so much! This one has been driving me crazy.

Dave Roberts | 7 comments Got the book today. This is the one! The illustrations seem different than what I remember, but this is also a hardback and I had a paperback as a kid.

Thanks again!
