i think they're all ugly and i don't care. :P

Well, I disagree on the ugliness, because I have difficulty finding anybody ugly.

But I agree on the I don't care comment. I mean, I would care if my friend started going out with my other friend, but that's the only case. Or if I started going out with somebody, of course ;)

Really though, I don't even care when people in my school hook up, so why should I care about some famous person whom I've never even met, let alone never said a single word to?

..........

message 108: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Okay, um. So, what's the best POV?

message 109: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
um. first person usually, i would say...

message 110: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
well i mean i like writing in first person. i like reading third person just as much, i just don't like writing in it.

message 111: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) UM!
Either third or first. How do you write in second? I don't get it. Like, Sennia looked at me. "What're you doing?"
I dunno if it's first, I just can't write that way cause I just....don't....know....how.

message 112: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

It would be really, really, REALLY weird to write a story from second point of view. Isn't second point of view like, "We sat down and ate. We got up and went to our classes. We jumped up and down with joy." Right? That would be strange...

My favorite point of view to write from is first- I feel like my writing flows more naturally and comfortably that way, and also it feels much more realistic and vivid. I'm also fine with writing third person, but I don't think my writing style is as smooth for third as it is as first, even though I like both. But I prefer first. :D

Oh yeah...

message 114: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashocalypse) Actually, my English teacher said that second point of view is told from the point of view of "you".
The dog is hungry. You feed the dog. The dog likes the food. You pet the dog.

So, really, the only books it's seen in are children's books or those wierd "choose your own ending" books.

message 115: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
Um, not really. I actually am writing something in second person, and I think I pull it off. I plan on posting the first chapter sometime soon.

Basically, first person is somebody telling the story, and the character isn't talking directly to somebody.

Third person is the same, except the narrator is outside the story.

Second person is when the narrator talks directly to the audience or another character, saying "you do this, you do that, you are this, you think this" and such.

But second person has to be combined with either first or third person, because there is always a narrator in a novel, and second person requires a narrator that can be either inside or outside the story.

message 116: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) okay. I think it depends on the story. Like with Harry Potter, it had to be third or else you couldn't see the rest of the quidditch games and such. But with Twilight it was nice because you could directly feel what she was feeling, and it was from her POV.

message 117: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
well, w/first person you have to combine it w/third person and sometimes second person too. cuz the narrator still says what the other characters are doing. so it's not just second person ...

message 118: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) yeah.
What? Sorry, I actually didn't understand.

message 119: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
okay well veronica said: "But second person has to be combined with either first or third person, because there is always a narrator in a novel, and second person requires a narrator that can be either inside or outside the story."

Soooo I was just adding to that point by saying that that's sorta true for ALL pov's ... not just second person.

message 120: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) i didn't know there was such thing as second person POV. hmm... i learn something new everyday! X )

message 121: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) okay! good, so it's not just me who can't write from 2nd person POV.

So, are there any POVs besides 1st and 3rd?

message 122: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments second!

XD

I think that's all.

message 123: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
oh right, i remember what second person is now! :D

message 124: by [deleted user] (new)

guess what! I've realized I can't write a story without knowing every character's point of view!! It's nuts!!!

message 125: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
haha. i know. i'm always tempted to write a story in like five different pov's ... but i force myself to stick to one perspective. except for in the case of Soul Stealer, but i think it was necessary for that story ...

message 126: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments I know what you mean, Brigid. The problem with me was that I gave in to that temptation... ☺

message 127: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
XD well i have no problem switching w/pov's ... as long as the story doesn't get too repetitive when you switch perspectives, then it's perfectly fine. i just get a little confused if i start switching around too much. lol.

message 128: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Ephona,

Will you please make me your friend, so I can read your stories.

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
That's true, if the story is in first person and you switch around PoVs a lot, then you have to be careful that they don't all sound the same. lol XD

message 130: by Brigid ✩ (new)

message 133: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments I wonder ... Sella? Does it sound like the same person when I'm switching people? I can't tell. I really don't want it to...

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

ya me either.

message 135: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
.......... i pretty much only did it for Soul Stealer. idk if they both sounded the same or not. i was trying to decide when i was rereading it last night, but i couldn't decide. agh.

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
in november I'm going to be switching POVs a whole lot. pretty much, there will be at least ten POVs. tee hee. I love ideas. too bad I have to wait till november to use it...but then again, maybe it's not a bad thing, because I've started two stories recently already, and am working on three, and want to write a quick ending to a fourth, to fulfil a new year's resolution that I made nine months ago. nine and a half, actually.

message 137: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
haha. :D i can't wait to use my nanowrimo idea either ... but i probably should finish writing Reborn by the end of September ... then i'll have all of October to edit. and then i'll have NANOWRIMO!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!

message 138: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
I'm not sure what story to finish first. I think I'll try to write as many as I can before November starts. And then I'll just edit EVERYTHING at once, from december to probably may at least...

message 139: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
wow ... XD
okay. here's what i'm planning to do.
1. finish writing Reborn by the end of September
2. edit Reborn during October, also do some outlining for Nanowrimo. maybe write a short story or something if i have extra time.
3. obviously, once it's november: NANOWRIMO!!!!
4. during december, edit nanowrimo story ... or finish it if i don't get it done during november, but THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!! XD
5. after that ... get to work on Shades. or The Chosen One. not sure yet. whichever i get ideas for first.

but at least i have the next three months planned out. ;D

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

good luck brigid.

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Kenzie, I can distinguish who is thinking in your finding my father story when it's different PoV's...I don't think they sound the same.

And Brigid, what are you talking about? In Soul Stealer, David and Eva's PoV's didn't sound the same at all!! I think you did fine there.

But for me...I think that the chapters that I wrote in Moon Rise, when I switched PoV's, they all sounded the same. :( I guess I couldn't really have it sound different with three sisters who were close in age...ah well. XD

yeah and i can't wait for NANOWRIMO either, coz I love the idea I got and I don't want to wait to write it!! Yayz I'm so excited!! XD

and wow, brigid, you're organized!! XD you've got everything planned out, lol. XD like cali said, good luck! XD can't wait to find out the ending to reborn!!

i don't really have a plan...I'm just almost completely focusing on writing/planning outcast, the almost part going to star soul (if that made sense.) and then of course, in november, NANOWRIMO!! XD

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

so November 1st it starts?

message 143: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 5857 comments Mod
yup. XD
haha. well i'm usually not that organized. lol.

message 144: by [deleted user] (new)

Guess I better pull out that amazingness Idea I have and add more after 50,000 words.

message 145: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
yeah, but you can't use a story that you have already started. You have to start from scratch, not including an outline. those are fine. but no actual words that form even part of a story.

message 146: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Okay, phew!

I'm going to try to be like you Brigid and finish something before the NaNoWriMo. I just hope I can do it. LOL

I'm so happy! One month and a few days! Yes! Hurry up November!

message 147: by Veronica, What the neck!? (new)

Veronica (v_a_b) | 2889 comments Mod
I would try to finish everything before nanowrimo, but I have a bunch of stuff that I'm at the beginning of. Like that one untitled story. And then Invisible Peace. And then the other story that I gave up on but just figured out how to fix...

the only one that I'm not at the beginning of is Roses for June.
