Kelley Anne | 1619 comments This thread is for any discussion on Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers Series. This is her first Young Adult series, a trilogy, and is set in the same world as her Otherworld series. Armstrong has said that although she has finished this particular trilogy, she is going to write more YA books set in the same world.

The Summoning
The Awakening
The Reckoning

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I first tried reading The Summoning when it came out, but just couldn't get into it and gave it up. Then people on GR talked me into trying it again, so I did. It took me almost the whole book to get into it. I enjoyed the series, but was disappointed in the ending.

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 237 comments Loved it, loved it, loved it! The first one was a little slow to start and I was a little disappointed by how open-ended the last one was but as long as she continues their story (in the next trilogy which she's hinted at) I'll be happy. I'm hoping the characters will make it into Women of the Otherworld. I all ready have the characters paired up with the appropriate mentors.

I am waiting for this to happen too! I would love to see how the adults deal with all of these precocious teens. That was what I had hoped for that in the ending of the third.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I agree, the first book was a bit slow for me to get into, but overall I really loved this series. I think that eventually they'll have to cross paths with the Women of the Otherworld characters. At least, I hope that they do. Hmmm...wonder how Clay and Derrick will get along! :)

I thought they'd do quite well together but Derick has alpha tendencies so they might clash on that but they're both very close to their wolf and do well academically.

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I agree with you Amy. If they could put aside that I think they would get along well. Plus Derick thinks of Chloe as his mate so he has that in common with Clay.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 437 comments I really enjoyed this series and agree that the first one was a bit slow in taking off, and very much felt like it was nothing but a set-up for the series. However, I loved the second and third books and wasn't at all disappointed with the ending to the third book. I knew she was going to continue on with the series and has said that she isn't done with this batch of kids yet, so there loose strings still have a chance to get tidied up.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments This series was a surprise to me. When I started reading it I was expecting mini women of the otherworld and this was not that, but I liked it.

I just wished there were a few cameo's from the women of the otherworld series.

Agreed! They have already actually. I remember we actually spoke about this on the KA forum about how Derek's dad is after they ran into Liam and somebody else whose name I forget ( :/ ) in the second book. They also re-appear in the third book. But they mentioned the events that had happened in Bitten about the killings.

Ellen (ellenpenleysmith) Also the first couple of chapters of The Gathering are up on the internet!

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Thanks! Can't wait to check it out! When does the book come out? Anyone know? BTW, hopefully she will do with this book what she did with The Reckoning, keep releasing more and more chapters all the way up to the release date. I think that by the release date she had released 6 or so chapters if I'm remembering right.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments Good excerpt! Speculation time. Ok, so what do you think that Daniel is? And what about Maya? I have a hard time believing that the fact that she has a paw print birthmark and is fantastic with animals is a coincedence. And what exactly grabbed Serena.

Kelley Anne | 1619 comments I went looking for more info about this book and ended up stumbling on a blog that Armstrong writes for the Darkest Powers series, and she has short fiction on there! I just started reading "Divided" that is told from Derricks perspecitive when he and Simon get seperated from the girls in the first book. I guess that when she does the short stories, she releases one chapter a week. Here's the link for anyone interested.
