AnQi (anqiyu) | 85 comments I'm reading Legend (Drenai Tales, #1). This is a relatively old book, published in 1984, but still surprisingly enjoyable. I expected something drab and boring, but this is very enlightening. I just finished Outcast by Michelle Paver and A Great and Terrible Beauty. Both were excellent books. Some books that I am waiting to read on my shelf: Ghost Hunter, Eragon,John Adams, Infinity, The Book Thief, and Old Yeller. Lots of books!!

message 503: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I am going to be rereading Eragon soon. Maybe we can BuddyRead?

message 504: by AnQi (new)

AnQi (anqiyu) | 85 comments Sure, that would be cool-I will get to it as soon as I finish the books I'm currently reading. :)

I'm currently reading Ship Breaker after meeting the author a few weeks ago. I hope after finishing Ship Breaker to read Eragon or The Icebound Land.

Jen | 58 comments I've never posted anything besides an introduction and my million pages posts so I thought I'd get into posting a little more since I'm part of the group anyway :)
Currently reading:
The Trinity Six by Charles Cumming
A first-reads giveaway book. I've just started it so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it is yet, haha.
Pigtopia by Kitty Fitzgerald
This book I bought when I was a young teenager and it was just one of those books I started and then put down and got distracted with other books. However, I started reading it again and everything rushed back to me. Its reaaally good, I can't wait to finish.
Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Lent to me by a friend. I'm not a romance fan in the least, but it seems a little interesting, at least enough to keep reading. The characters are annoying but I'm going to give a try.
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
I absolutely love this book so far. I'm only about 300 pages in but its wonderful. Its taking me a terribly long time to get through but I'm hoping it will be a great read all the way through.

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments @Jen - Beyond the Highland Mist is one of the weaker ones in the series, while I liked them, that and book 2 were only ok...book 3 and on got subsequently better - books 4, 5 and 6 were my favorite...and then rolling into the fever series

Yeah, that's what my friend (the one who lent it to me) said as well. I think that's what's going to essentially get me to reading the other books. I certainly hope it gets better. As I said before, I'm not a romance book fan, and I was getting pretty frustrated with the characters.

message 520: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments unless you are a total read in series type person (i'm not) - i'd say put it down and get book 3 or 4...and go from there, you can go back and read 1 and 2 later on maybe

message 521: by Jen (new)

Jen | 58 comments Usually, I am. But I think I might just do that. I actually finished it (the first one) but I'll probably skip 2 and maybe go back later if I have the patience (if only to get a few more pages in).

message 522: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments book 4 is my favorite (then book 5 is his twin) and book 6 is adam black (the fae in book 1)

That's such a weird coincidence- I've been thinking of reading Jane Eyre too, mainly because it's been sitting on my bookshelf for a couple of years, so I kind of started it a little bit. It's surprising- I actually seem to like it, but otherwise, I try to stay away from classics as much as I can. :)

message 530: by Shay (new)

Shay | 862 comments I'm at some stage of these books:
The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer Catch-22 by Joseph Heller Katherine Swynford The Story of John of Gaunt and His Scandalous Duchess by Alison Weir Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens Truman by David McCullough A Novel Bookstore by Laurence Cossé Queen The Story of an American Family by Alex Haley Life Keith Richards by Keith Richards The Valley of Horses (Earth's Children, #2) by Jean M. Auel Backstage Stuff (Jane Wheel Mysteries) by Sharon Fiffer

And I'm starting Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen tomorrow for a buddy read.

Maybe we should do a Buddy Read...I have a ton of classics on my Nook and want to read through them. I don't normally read classics, but even though Dracula was kind of slow it was also really good.

message 532: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 315 comments of all the classics i've read in the last year (which isn't many) - Jane Eyre is my favorite...Wuthering Heights the least
