Not quite a match, since the heroine was acquitted, but it might scratch the "hero prosecutes the heroine" itch: Love's Duel by Carole Mortimer.

Without Trust hero was the prosecutor at heroines trial The charges were dropped and she ended up working for the the hero's mother.
or
A Debt Paid in Passion hero pushed for conviction, heroine did borrow/steal from him so she wasn't innocent, he was sitting with the prosecution in the courtroom
or
Unlocking Her Innocence Heroine wrongly convicted of manslaughter for killing hero's brother in a car crash
or
Captive in the Spotlight Not sure if hero was a witness for prosecution but he was there in the courtroom every day of the trial. She was the nanny to his brother and sister in-law, was accused of having an affair with and killing his brother.

Pam | 258 comments HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY ALL
You all are fantastic at finding books so... I started a book a quite while back and misplaced it. I really want to finish it, but know very little about it except beginning and it is a HP.The Heroine wakes up in hospital and everyone believes her to be someone else... I think she believes she is responsible for the death of her friend and that is who they believe she is., The dead friend is rich or famous something like that and the hospital calls her friends family. The brother/Hero comes to hospital, I think he decides to take care of her even though he believes it is her fault sis is dead. The heroine knows she is not the friend but does not know who she is so plays along. Then I lost, lent, or misplaced the book. Any ideas?

Resisting the Sicilian Playboy by Amanda Cinelli there is also a bonus novella called Christmas At The Castello which picks up a year or so later. It was a bonus on The Return of Antonides

Frances (kiwifrances) | 14 comments I'm trying to remember the title of a Harlequin Presents book. It may be a Lynne Graham book. It is NOT The Contaxis Baby (although it has similarities). The setting is England.

The Heroine - who is poor - is wrongly believed to have contributed to a young man's death. When the Hero (the young man's relative/mentor) finds out about her, he decides to get revenge on the Heroine - he plans to make her fall in love with him and then dump her.

However, when they first make love, the Hero discovers that the Heroine is a virgin and so she can't be the woman who lead the young man on. The Heroine is devastated to learn about the revenge plot and she runs away to a remote place where she is given shelter by an older female friend/relative. Meanwhile, the Hero is distraught to find out that he has wronged an innocent woman.

However the Heroine turns out to be pregnant and she has serious complications with her pregnancy. She is hospitalised and the older woman contacts the Hero. The Hero has been thinking about the Heroine for months - following the phone call, he bursts into action and arranges for the Heroine to have private hospital care.

My memory gets a bit fuzzy after that but I think the Hero persuades the Heroine to marry him before the birth. But not sure. I remember really liking the story at the time and would like to re-read the book if I can figure out the author & title.

Can anyone help please?

The Italian Billionaire's Pregnant Bride Her friend has a relative in Wales - I think, where she vanishes for months selling real estate. Heroine starts to go in to labour early and the hero is called in whisking her away to private hospital. He does try to arrange marriage in the hospital but the baby arrives.

FYI - Fiction DB lists all books by author with descriptions. https://www.fictiondb.com/author/lynn...

How old do you think this book is? Vintage - 80's 90's or newer 00's Perhaps try looking through Jacqueline Baird books? She has loads of vengeful heroes in her list.

message 3868: by Frances (new)

Frances (kiwifrances) | 14 comments Thank you! I think I read the book when I was working overseas. So probably late 1990s or early 2000s. I am sure I own it. But I now have 50 boxes of books. I think I might have to painstakingly go through the bibliographies of some of my older favourite authors.

Bola | 15 comments Trying to remember a book, possibly an oldie M&B or harlequin, there was an office party and the heroine attended with her husband who always maltreat her, verbally abused and cheated on her severally. The h was also aware that the husband had a new lover among his co-workers, at his office, where he usually behaved like a bachelor. His boss, the Hero never liked him but he was a good worker. At the party, the H was bored and was looking out of maybe his office when he saw the h heading for the ladies, he followed and waited for her outside to meet her. He was so smitten with her that he suddenly felt happy and alive, only for the h’s husband, a jerk, to come out and interrupt them, when the h introduced him as her husband, the H was so shocked that he felt like someone punched him. That night after the party, the h’s husband died in an accident with his lover beside him and that was how their romance started. Kindly help if you can remember the author and title.

message 3875: by Rie (new)

Rie | 18 comments Hello! Looking for some older HPs:

1.

Looking for a book where the hero lost his chance at becoming a pianist because of some mishap at a factory. Because of this the OW (who is a violinist? I think) left him.

I believe that he and the heroine are married (and the heroine is pregnant?) There is a fight and the heroine moves away to the city and stays with her friend.

There's an "OM" who is actually just interested in the h's friend that bumps into the heroine in the city and consoles her over her break up. While in the city the h goes to a musical concert and the OW is playing, she sees the H in the crowd and sees him going backstage afterwards and feels terrible.

I feel as if there are some other books with a similar premise that I've read before, but can't pin down details

Does anyone else know of books where the H and h are married and the h leaves and lives elsewhere because the H did something bad? I'm remembering one that isn't Emma Darcy's Breaking Point

2.

H and h are both from a small town. H breaks up with the h because he has big city aspirations and he finds the h too gauche to fit into his future.

Years late, the h is a primary/elementary school teacher in the city and the h and H meet at a school event. The H is engaged to a lawyer whose son goes to the school.

The h suggests football for the lawyer's son, and later the lawyer falls in love with the coach. The H and h get back together.

TIA!

Se Mcgregor | 550 comments boogenhagen - any thoughts on the one Frances is looking for further up? It sounds familiar - in two parts. First half has lots of matches, second half, I can think of a few, just not as a whole. One I was thinking might be it, the heroine had an arrhythmia during her pregnancy. Any thoughts? --not the Maya Banks one that starts with a one night stand.

Nancy | 5 comments I need help with finding this book!
H and h are step sibling and they got into an affair with each other. The h got pregnant and then faked her death to run away from the family but mostly the H. The h also doesn’t have a good relationship with her mom and the mom passed away before the H found the h. I believe the story starts out when the H accidentally spotted the h while she was shopping (I think). She is shocked to see the H but pretends to don’t know him because of lost memory due to the accident. The H finally discovered his son when he dropped the h at her house/farm. And the rest is as usual.
Thank you!
