Being a huge series fan, I'm excited to have found you guys!I apologize if they've already been mentioned, but I have a few more to add that I didn't see.
Mercy Thompson- Patricia Briggs
Lily Bard- Charlaine Harris
Ghost Dusters Mysteries- Wendy Roberts (although the publisher has decided not to renew the series, the 3 existing books are awesome)
Vintage Magic Mysteries- Annette Blair
Witchcraft Mysteries- Juliet Blackwell
Bewitching Mysteries- Madelyn Alt
Nicki Styx- Terri Garey
Jane Jameson- Molly Harper
Finley Anderson Tanner- Rhonda Pollero
Pepper Martin- Casey Daniels
Gretchen Lowell- Chelsea Cain
Jolie Wilkins- H.P. Mallory
Phew! I think that's it for now. :)
Edited to say oops! Casey Daniels and Terri Garey were indeed mentioned. Sorry! :)
Welcome to the group, Julie! We are happy to have you here. Thanks for the series suggestions. So many series, so little time, yah? :)Hope you enjoy the group!
Thanks, Steph- I often feel like I'm going to run out of good series to read or have difficulty finding the time to read them. Thankfully, I've avoided both situations :)
:) Well, I can assure you, you won't run out of good series to read, not when you spend any amt of time around here. We're overflowing with great suggestions.
I didn't know this, but I think the Jolie Wilkins series is on the kindle only. Sorry to those of you without an e-reader, I didn't realize at the time. Everything else should be readily available. :)
I may have missed it, but I didn't see Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid books listed. The first book was Succubus Blues, and the 6th and final book will be out in late summer or early fall. I discovered Richelle Mead this summer, and she became one of my favorite authors almost immediately.
I'm really enjoying the Blades of the Rose series by Zoe Archer (4 books). I just discovered L.J. McDonald, a new author. I read The Battle Sylph twice this past weekend and have to get the second book. A third will be coming out next year.

I've read these series and you will love them! You might want to add The Abby and Ophelia series by Shirley Damsgaard (like Madelyn Alt)
I have to say the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. The first book Storm Front is mediocre, #2 (Fool Moon) is a little better, but then each book after that is really good. Right now it is my very favorite UF series, Harry Dresden is a great hero and the characters are amazing -- and it is funny!
Hmmm, I'm not sure about that one. I'll have to ask. He's currently reading:
. That thing is like a deadly weapon! He has read/reads: John Ringo, George R.R. Martin, Tanya Huff, Simon R. Green, David Weber, Orson Scott Card and Terry Goodkind (can't remember the others).
I've recently (earlier this year) gotten him started on Sookie (he loves TB), Kate Daniels (he's caught up and waiting for Magic Slays - told him ME FIRST!), and he tried The Forest of Hands and Teeth on audio and didn't like the narrator, so he stopped.
That is nice that he is a reader like you and in a way has similar tastes! I have two of those authors' books books marked as TBR (Simon Green is one I have heard is similar to Jim Butcher).

He said no, he hasn't read any in the Codexa series.
Yeah, it definitely helps when I want to read. Especially after years of him reading so fast and draggin' me around bookstores for hours when I was still reading as slow as a snail moves. But, now, I read faster him and now he's the one who checks his watch when I say, "I just wanna run in here for a minute." LOL! But, hey, all's fair in love and books, right?!
Hubby's got good tastes! WoT is a great series that I will pick up again one day (it's just those books are MONSTERS!), and I enjoy several of the authors you listed. On a side note: I'm so in love with the Mercy Thompson series. I thought I liked these books when I first read them early this year, but re-reading it, I absolutely heart them <3
If you haven't yet, START!!!
Vivian I agree. I recently did a re-read of all the mercy books by listening to audio - brilliant. Patricia Briggs is brilliant.
I've only read the first 3 Mercy books- I especially liked the second one. There were some seriously scary parts! I think I'll tackle the rest of that series next.
Hope you like them, Julie. I love that series! They definitely take you on a wild, sometimes scary, ride. Lots of yummy shifters and supes too! :)
I am looking for some new series, I saw a couple that I am checking out, the Vintage Maigic by A. Blair and Witchcraft Mysteries by J. Blackwell. What is in them, are they sexy, steamy or like S. Damsgaard Ophelia and Abby, good mystery but not sex?
Several series that I like but I don't think I have seen mentioned so far are:
Janet Chapman Highlander series (magic)
K. Sparks Love at Stake (vamps, shifters)
L. Sands Argeneau (vamps, different take, survivors from Atlantis)
A. Knight's Mageverse (vamp, King Arthur's Knight's of the Round Table)
C. Warren Other (vamps, shifters, fae, witches, demons)
L. Leigh's Breeds (humans with animal DNA, not shifter, but have some characterisitcs)
A. Morgan's Paladins (UF, a dimension that is beside ours, earthquakes, volcano eruptions opens up barrier and let a race from there into our world)
she also has another series, Talions, pretty good, beingw who feed on life force, but not in the bad way, they feed off emotions from sport games, dances, concerts and such so they don't harm humans. A different sub-species of humans.
C. Feehan's Dark Carpathian (vamps, very good series)
She also has Drake sisters (Magic) and GhostWalkers (psychic, military aspect, mad scientist experiments on soldiers who have psychic abilities and enhances them)
Susan Sizemore Prime (vamps, three groups, Family and Clans protect humans, Tribe prey on them)
Rosemary Laurey Forever (vamps, series has ended, 5 or 6 in the series).
Jean Johnson's Sons of Destiny (magic) Also has ended
That is all I can think of right now.
Janette
have no idea of how you do the links or show the books.
Hi, Janette, I have read #1 of the Witchcraft Mysteries and liked it. It was more mystery, little/no sex. I haven't read the other series though.
Thanks for the list of others.
Sandra mentioned how to add links to books and/or covers, but if you any additional help you can check out this visual how-to . :)
I'm new to this discussion and to PNR/UF in general. I've read 18 PNR series so I'm not too much of a newbie, but I still don't recognize a lot of the series listed here. Is that because there are a lot of UF series listed? Going forward, could we identify series as PNR or UF if the discussion picks up again? I'd love to see more PNR series, if they're appropriate. Thanks!
Hi, if you want some more/different PNR series, there's a thread around here, listing favourites of the group. There's about 20 so hopefully you'll find some new ones! Here's the link: BEST OF: Paranormal Romance Series
Alternatively there's one for UF, standalones and I think YA.
Hope you find some good ones :)
We can definitely do that, Lisa. Thanks for the suggestion. If we/I forget, just ask. :)Great suggestion, Josie. That's a great spot for her to find some fantastic series broken out by genre.
Here's a good UF book...I don't give many five stars but this was an awesome read! Looking forward to book 2...Three Days to Dead by Kelly Meding
N. Singh's Psy/Ch series is my favorite. Caressed By Ice is my favorite so far.
I am worried that I will be dissapointed by Hawke's story.
From what I am seeing most of what is liked by many of you here are series that have the same main character (Harris, Armstrong, Harrison and others).
I have read some of them but they just don't appeal to me.
I prefer the ones that have a new main character each book but the previous characters are there in the background. Such as N.Singh's series, Ward's BDB, or L. Sands Argeneau vampires.
I am checking out some new series, does anyone have some feedback on them?
Sydney Somer Pendragon gargoyles
Primal Hunger
Primal Attraction
Primal Pleasure: Pendragon Gargoyles, Book 3
Pamela Palmer Feral Warriors
Desire Untamed
Obsession Untamed
Passion Untamed
Sara Mackenzie Immortal Warriors
And last but not least is Rene Lyons
Anyone know anything about these series?
Inga wrote: "Great discussion, Steph! I've added some new books to my TBR and will go through the whole dicussion soon :)Here are my faves..."
Thanks, Inga. It's been a popular thread. I think a lot of us have found some new faves this way. :)
I've read all of Kay Hooper's Bishop books and have enjoyed them too. Have you heard if another trilogy will be starting soon? The last one (Blood Ties (Blood, #3)) in the Blood trilogy felt like an ending with so many of the "older" characters showing up to help w/the case. I need to check out her website and scope it out.
I am interested in checking out Eternal Guardians, so I'm happy to see it's one of your faves. :)
Jlyates, sounds like you are a bigger fan of PNR vs. UF series. There are definitely some very good ones out there. Psy-Changelings being one of my favorites too. I get worried about a possible let down with Hawke's book as well. So much build up, it must be hard on the author. But, Nalini has never let me down yet, so I have faith in her and Hawke's book. :) Here's hopin'! I can't wait to read it!
RE: The other series you mentioned - I haven't read them. But, maybe someone else around SOS has and can offer some feedback.
A couple of other PNRs you might enjoy:
* Demonica by Larissa Ione (1st book: Pleasure Unbound) with hot demons
* Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter (1st book: The Darkest Night) with hot warriors ("Lords") each possessed by a different demon
* The Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank (1st book: Jacob) with vamp-like H/h mating
* The Otherkin Trilogy by Eve Silver (1st book: Sins of the Heart) with immortal, half-human soul reapers
I've read some UF, I like them, I just have to have that HEA at the end. Really, I like lots of genres, PNR is my favorite, but I enjoy murder mysteries a LOT also, with Sci-fi and fantasy following. Also enjoy reading Historical Romance, and Westerns, LOLI don't know if A. Morgan's Paladins and Talions is UF or PN, but I really love those two series. She has two new books coming out, one in April (26th) and the other is May (31st). I have them on pre-order.
Dark Protector
Dark DefenderIn Darkness RebornRedeemed in DarknessDarkness UnknownDefeat the DarknessDark Warrior UnleashedDark Warrior UnbrokenDark Warrior Untamed have yet to buy this one
I have the LoU,really like them, need to get the last one, I don't think I bought it yet.
Have a very hard wanting to read any books that have demons in them. A big hang up of mine, but there are so many others that I won't be left without anything to read, VBG. I think I now have around 400 in my TRB list here on GR.
I think that C. L.Wilsons Tarien Soul series is considered UF. Need to buy the last of the series, and I think I need to rebuy the fourth book, my daughter says she doesn't have it, but I know I sent it to her. I am waiting to read the last three until after I buy the fifth. Hate the wait when I know there is an end to a series so after I read the second one I put the rest aside for later.
Steph, if Jef likes straight fantasy too (GRRM, etc) he'll like Jim Butcher's Codex Alera series. I've only read the 1st one, but it was really good, definitely plan on reading the rest. Truly, it was so different from his Harry Dresdens, could have been a different author. But I really like both series. Lisa, a good way to differentiate between UF & PNR is the covers. Now granted, this isn't a hard and fast rule, but it applies a lot--PNR covers tend to have a couple on the cover, or a shirtless man, where UF usually have a kick a$$ looking chick on the cover, no man. :)
If you are into shifters and like sarcastic humour you can't go past Shelly Laurenston aka G.A. Aiken.LOVE HER WORK!!
Steph wrote: "Loved the humor in #1, looking forward to Miki's book next."And please don't forget there are some short stories of Laurenston's in two or three anthologies. At the moment I can't recall the titles but I remember I loved "Miss Congeniality" in an anthology-that is until the end which was a little over the top.
I freaking loved Miss Congeniality which is in When He Was Bad. Irene is like a cross between Miki and Bones (as in Dr. Temperance Brennan from TV show Bones). A perfectly hilarious combination! ;)
Series I have LOVED (and still do for that matter)☞Downside Ghosts by Stacia Kane
☞S.L. Viehl's Stardoc
☞Linnea Sinclair's Dock 5
☞Katherine Allred's Alien Affairs
☞Jennifer Estep's Elemental Assassin
☞Cate Tiernan's Immortal Beloved Series
☞Charlaine Harris Harper Connelly (love her Shakespeare series as well but it is straight mystery/romance no paranormal elements)
☞Gena Showalter Alien Huntress and "teen alien huntress" books
☞J.D. Robb
☞Jeaniene Frost
☞Rachel Caine's Outcast Season
☞Nalini Shigh's Archangel series
☞Patricia Briggs Alpha/Omega and Mercedes series'
☞Seanan McGuire's October Daye series
and one of my favorites lately has been
☞Moira J. Moore's Source and Shield series.
I could go on but I'll stop here.
