If you haven't yet, START THIS SERIES!
LOL Karin - wrong series! Easy to do with all we read, yah? That's a series that's recently re-popped up on my TBR radar. I was wondering who'd read it. Glad to hear you like it. Might have to push it higher on my TBR list. :)
Steph wrote: "AH, that's a very good question. It's funny b/c I recently started a post called "All Good Things..." raising the opposite question. While there are definitely series I wish wouldn't/hadn't come ..."The first 5 Anita Blake books are worth reading! They are are great horror/UF and kick butt. I asked MJ Davidson about ending her series and she said she had no plans...I agree some series go way past their sell by date.
no one mentioned The Immortals After Dark Series by Kresley Cole. All out alpha-male vs snarky kick ass female stories .A Hunger Like No Other I also like some paranormal mysteries like: Shirley Damsgaard and Casey Daniels. How could I forget Terri Garey! Dead Girls Are Easy she is an awesome person and loves to interact with her fans. Terri Garey and her Zodiac series. Very dark UF
I may eventually get around to Anita Blake. Too much I really want to read to start it now though. I have read the first IAD book and would like to read more, I also have Casey Daniels' #1 TBR. I liked Dead Girls are Easy ok, but it wasn't my favorite. Haven't tried her Zodiac series though.
OMG!!!!! Just finishing up The Hunger Games and going to read Catching Fire next real soon.If you haven't read this series yet, then you really need to it's amazing. Wondering what took me so long myself.
I have read the first IAD book and would like to read more, I also have Casey Daniels' #1 TBR...."oops, I thought I put Vicki Pettersson's name in there. She is the one who writes the Zodiac series. Very dark UF

No worries :)

If you really want to read the Anita Blake series, wait until you have nothing else to read. Keep to the plan of putting it on the bottom of the pile, you won't be missing much.
Got a few series of books I haven't read yet so thanks everyone!
:) Thanks, Aske, that's the plan and I'm stickin' to it. LOL!Glad you were able to find something new to check out. :)
Oh I loved the first 10 books of Anita but I should've stopped after book 12. I'm starting to really hate the series now.
The series isn't that great. I've put it off in order to read others because the story just wasn't that interesting after the fourth book for me. But I will finish it, just not right away.
The first 4 or 5 books are really good as far as plot goes. So I would check those out and then go to Wikipedia to get the synopsis for the others .
Re Anita Blake. I lasted til book 6. I have removed her from my TBR list just because there are way better books out there to read.
looks like I REALLY need to check out Gena Showalter
Other than that my list of authros really dis grow, a little... I keep spying new authors all the time! lol

Oh, there's no shortage of new series to try out in this group. That's for sure! Stick around long enough and your TBR stack will be taller than Jack's beanstalk!
I have to recommend the Downside Ghosts series by Stacia Kane, I have only read the first one, but it rocks:
I am also really enjoying the Rough Rider series, I have read #1 and #5, and am about to read #2:
-- warning it is erotica and explicit. But it is well written with really good character development and intriguing romances.
Amy or "Ames" wrote: "Oh I loved the first 10 books of Anita but I should've stopped after book 12. I'm starting to really hate the series now."I am loving the first three of Anita Blake. I really enjoy the horror element and the moral struggle.
Regina, I thought books 3 and 8 of the Rough Riders were the best. I like her style. Who knew cowboys have so much fun!

Just read
also by her. It was pretty good too.
Vered wrote: "Regina, I thought books 3 and 8 of the Rough Riders were the best. I like her style. Who knew cowboys have so much fun!"I have something to look forward to then. :)

I had added this to my website a few days ago, good to know it was enjoyable.
I'm reading Stacia Kane's Downside Ghosts series this month (at least the 1st 2 for sure, probably won't read the 3rd til next month.)
I've heard nothing but awesome things about them, so I'm excited. :)
The only small problem I had with Personal Demons was that I really really wanted to slap the heroine on several occasions throughout the book. I did't like her for the most part. She did redeem herself so no hard feelings :)
Hi Guys, first post here - I cant believe it took so long for someone to mention Kresley Coles Immortals After Dark - you definately have to check it out.I rate it higher then the Black Dagger Brotherhood - and that series was fantastic!
Hi, Jodie! Welcome to the group! I have read the first book The Warlord Wants Forever and liked it. I've got the rest on my TBR. Might just get around to it sooner rather than later b/c of the "2nds Challenge". :)Vered, Don't you hate it when the heroine of a book drives you bloody mad, but everything else is good? Wah-wah-wah ... try again, thanks for playing. LOL!

My favorite all time series is Charlaine Harris
I agree with every negative thing said about Anita Blake- but it's like coffee in the morning- I can't stop.
I could not get interested in The Warlord Wants Forever- but I'm going to try it again. I've hear nothing but good stuff about
so I'm thinking I might just skip to that one.My reading tastes slip and slide- lately, I've been wanting to see more romance in my books.
I like Mac! I think given ger background and what is happening to her, her personality and reactions make sense.
right now I'm reading Chicagoland Vampires and I'm loving the series except...I'd like to see more bodice ripping, headboard banging, plaster chipping, sizzling hot, glorious S E X!!!
Regina wrote: "I like Mac! She drove me up a wall with all her girly crap and haughty Southern attitude. I needed GR pressure to continue on with the series. But good thing I did--it's one of my top 5. :)

Irene, it's a UF. You might get a bit of sex, but it usually doesn't happen until book 3 or 4. :)
If you want bodice ripping and tons of sex, you better stick to PNR. ;)
Irene--Def. check out IAD, those books are so good! And I agree with Jodie, I like them more than Black Dagger Brotherhood, but I love that series as well!
Karin Elisabeth wrote: "Hello, everyone. I'm not sure if I just didn't see her mentioned but has anyone readMeljean Brook?
I read some pretty good reviews of her books. Perhaps they are more urban fantasy rather than p..."
I have read all of the Meljean Brook series that are out. The very first one is in an anthology which I did not read, so was a little lost reading Demon Angel, it was actually a little tough to get through, but I perservered and was glad I did. Each book seemed to get better and better and I ended up loving the series. A couple of books had me teary eyed, and that's pretty unusual for me.
That's a series I'm interested in starting. Sounds like a good one. Thanks for the head's up on the anthology start, Jeanine. I don't typically read anthologies, so I would've missed it.
Steph, she also has a very detailed web site that helps if you can't get hold of the anthology. I tend to not read anthologies too.
I actually bookmarked her site, just haven't taken a close look at it yet. I will though before I start the series so I get the order right. :)

I started with the third (Demon Night) and had no problem to understand the world. I actually liked this book so much that I ordered the rest of the series and I have finished reading and re-reading.
I really recommend this series.
I read Storm Born and Thorn Queen, books 1 & 2 of Richelle Mead's "Dark Swan" series and loved them. Also just finished Tempest Rising by Nicole Peeler, which was great. Hoping to pick up book 2, Tracking the Tempest this week.
I just read "Any Given Dooms Day" (thanks Jen!) and I really liked it. It's the first of "The Phoenix Chronicles". Give it a go if you haven't yet ladies!
I also read "The Better to Hold You" which I enjoyed. It's the first in a series also.
Definitely do! :) I have the next one in the series at the top of my list from Booksfree. I should also mention "The Gardella Chronicles". Has anyone mentioned those yet? They are great! So far I've read
and this one is on the way

I really liked that series. Steph - I think you would really enjoy it.
Immortals After Dark by Kresley ColeDark-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Carpathian Novels by Christine Feehan
GhostWalkers by Christine Feehan
Shades of Midnight by Lara Adrian
The Nightwalkers by Jacquelyn Frank
The Chosen Ones by Christina Dodd
Dragon Kin series by G.A. Aiken
Two series I never see mentioned are by authors C.T. ADAMS AND CATHY CLAMP. They are the Kate Reilly books.TOUCH OF EVIL
TOUCH OF MADNESS
TOUCH OF DARKNESS
This is the complete series. It follows the same couple, she a psychic, who had previously been attacked by vampires. He is a werewolf firefighter in a world where werewolves are treated like second class citizens. All three books have a continuing story line but do not end in cliffhangers. Which I do not like.
The second series is the SAZI which is about all kinds of shape shifters. The first book is the weakest so give it at least 2 to decide if you like them. Books one and 2 are about the same couple, but book 2 introduces many secondary characters that are featured in later books. There are 8 books out so far and I have heard a rumor that is all there are ever going to be. They are,
HUNTERS MOON
MOONS WEB
CAPTIVE MOON
HOWLING MOON
MOONS FURY
TIMELESS MOON
COLD MOON RISING
SERPENT MOON
I have read all but the last two.

I think I have been reading a little bit too much about vampires and demons lately - I start mixing up the worlds and wonder why one vampire suddenly can do something he/she wasn't able to do before. Then I realize - wrong series.:)
