Jessica- Embrace the Night DONE 6/1 ★★★★ I see why the Cassie Palmer series was so popular. Just loved the entire cast of characters. Loved how the vegas setting just came alive.
Deanne- Curse the Dawn Done 6/2 ★★★★ I'd like to see the Mercea/Cassie love story actually commit and go there. It is time now.
Dawn- Mark of the Demon Done 6/6 ★★★★ UF. I love UF. This is original and fun. Too bad there aren't more in the series finished!
Melinda- Blood of the Demon Done 6/7 ★★★★ Same series as above. Heroine is a police dective and demon summoner. Demons are from other dimensions and there is no hell/satan/lucifer. Demons just have a different set of values/morals. Like Fae have different value system. This series focuses ont he investigation, but in true UF style we are learning more about the heroine as the story goes and she grows.
Melanie- Beyond The Darkness Done 6/8 ★★★★ I didn't read the first five and did enjoy this story. It is very typically PNR. It started slow for me, but once I met Styx and the other characters I was swept away. The story picked up. I will buy the next one.
Judithe- Tiger Eye Done 6/9 ★★★★★
LOVED this story. Not a huge PNR fan. But I thought her voice was insanely talented. Every word counted. I found myself highlighting all over the place. The plot was good, but it could have been a very ho hum book. It was absolutely her voice that made it sing.
Lily- Shadow Touch Done 6/10 ★★★ I love her writing and enjoyed the story pretty well. My issues: this is PNR and when I wait 3/4 of the way through a book for sex, I want deets dammit. How does anyone write PNR and not describe the actual moment? come on. put that literary prose to good work and write something HOT! Other than that, I don't like how she paces a story. The set up takes most of the book and most of the action is in the last 1/4. Acutally I think the big show down was a few pages long.
Socrate- Club Shadowlands ★★★ Done 6/11 I'm too old to be a prude, so after reading some of the recent threads I decided to try some real erotica. As in Over 18 Warnings and all. This series is about a sex club on BDSM night. Seriously, I enjoyed it as an education- it helped me understand why anyone would do any of this. I went from thinking that all these people should be arrested to realizing to each his own if they are consenting. These two characters see others use whips but they are pretty easy going. I liked that these two fall in love and it isn't just sex for sex as many books are.
Marlene- Dark Citadel★★★ Done 6/11 Another shadowlands club book. I liked better than the first, but man I am glad I am not these people. Talk about issues.
Laurie Go Fetch! Done 6/11 ★★★★ Funny. Characters develooped in book one and I really enjoyed seeing their story play out.
Brandi Pack Challenge Done 6/11 ★★★★Short, funny, good story, well done characters, sex isn't until the endish- but worth the wait.
Here Kitty, Kitty! ★★★★★ Done 6/11 I have decided I really love this series! It is like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants for adults. Yep the end has lots of well described sex, but nothing I would say was extreame. The best part is that it is about 3 best friends and all three continue their stories in each book. Sarah is first, but she is vital in books two and three and her character is well developed. I like BDB, but really, Where was Beth in her brother's book? It was an author's choice, but I love how in Sisterhood all the girls are in all the books and that is the case here too. Now that all 3 are matched it will be interesting to see how they stay in the next books.

So after surprisingly enjoying Club Shadowlands I decided to see how smutty I really was. Seriously, there isn't any mmf/multiple partner stuff here- but public displays, and explanations of how apparently some things that look horrifying aren't. Anyhooo... I will give them all 5 stars. I can't say that this is anymore erotic than Cat and Bones' famous chapter (uhum) or some of the BDB stuff we've read. But the emotion and deep/rich characters are just amazing to me. She does a super job of letting you get in thier head. And there is a HEA- which is nice at times. If you are looking for a great Erotic stepping stone. I highly recommend this. I tried reading some samples of other books with menage etc... did nothin for me. Clearly I am the minority. That is what most people want. So I must be on the conservative side of slut. (oxymoron much?)
Her Wolf People either rate this a five star or a one star... I am firmly on the one star.. I can't believe I spent money on this.The cadence/or maybe voice of this book whispered YA to me. This is not YA. Character is mid twenties and has sex. But she lives at home and is still acting like a child. Really awful writing. Sorry. JMO. I am not a writer by nature at all, but I was ready to highlight to use this book as a case study on when people need to learn to "show don't tell". Seriously. I read "she was mad". we didn't get grinding teeth. NOthing. A huge chunk of this book, insanely so, is a conversation at a dinner table where she learns about her hidden past. I counted three actions of characters in over 40 pages. It just seemed so painful. I forced myself to the end looking for the five stars. I never found them, but it is clearly all personal taste.
The Bikini Diaries GREAT BOOK★★★★★ This is erotica with a HEA. Sweet love story, amazing character building. I don't like f/f or M/f/m and there is a scene of each in the book, but it was very palatable. Just LOVED this story!
Sacred Secrets ★★★★★ This was #1 on the erotica list. It deserves that place along with the 4++ rating it is averaging. If you like the character driven stories that Picoult writes. You will enjoy this book. It isn't about the BDSM, the Murder, jeeze even the romance. It is about the characters being pushed to face their past in order to have a future. Expect joy and sorrow. Expect to carry this one with you for a long long time.
