I wanted to keep this out of the Bo Diddley thread

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) While looking in the New York Times for the Bo Diddley obituary I saw that Alexander Courage, who composed the theme to "Star Trek" has also died.

Just thought I'd let you trekkies know.

Jackie "the Librarian" He's gone to the Final Frontier...

message 3: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell To real Star Trek fans, the term is "Trekker" not "Trekkie".

message 4: by Carlie (new)

Carlie I loved that theme song (the TNG version). I also love the themes of Dynasty and Simon Templar (Hawaii 5-0?).

message 5: by Tesse (new)

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Dave, I am not a real Star Trek fan.

Sheeesh.

message 6: by Dave (new)

Dave Russell I know, Tesse. I'm a little ashamed of that last post, and of the fact that I know the words to the ST theme song (as sung by Uhura in "Conscience of the King")

Beyond the rim of the starlight,
my love is wand'ring in star flight.
I know he'll find
In star clustered reaches
Love, strange love
A starwoman teaches.

I know his journey ends never.
His Star Trek will go on forever.
But tell him while
He wanders his starry sea,
Remember,
Remember me.

Jackie "the Librarian" I am, and always will be, a Star Trek fan. I saw William Shatner AND Leonard Nimoy at the Book Expo in L.A. on Saturday!

Not to talk to or anything, though. It felt like birdwatching, in a way...

Dave Russell Wow, Jackie, that is so cool. The only ones I've seen in person are Walter Koenig and James Doohan.

message 9: by Carlie (new)

Carlie The only cast member I'd go crazy for is Brent SPiner

message 10: by Tesse (new)

Tesse (hooksinmyhead) Sorry if I was a little acerbic, Dave.

I was just reminded of myself when talking about music.

I knew the lyrics, too!

But only because I am a total geek about music, it was on a bootleg of rare sci-fi and horror theme songs.

message 11: by Summer (new)

Summer (summerbp) I've met John de Lancie (Q),actually have a picture of us together; Brent Spiner; Jonathan Frakes; and LeVar Burton.

message 12: by Daniel (new)

Daniel (danielt) When I was a kid, I met George Takei. That's right, motherfuckin' Sulu, bitches. Do I win?

Jackie "the Librarian" Everyone who gets to meet George Takei is a winner, in by book.

message 14: by Chloe (new)

Chloe (countessofblooms) I'm with Jackie. George Takei is a badass. I was sad when they killed him on Heroes.
