I am working my way in..."
Welcome, Deborah! Another Harry Dresden & Mercy Thompson fan here!

We recently put our house on the market and both the real estate agent and the stager he hired said "A lot of these books have got to go!"
We emptied two bookcases (and sold them), donated a couple hundred books to the local library, and moved a few boxes worth to our second home (where we hope to move ourselves after we sell the first one!).
The stager looked at the huge, teetering TBR pile by my bed and said "One book. One book is all that should be on nightstand." Aaargh! I have three now (so there!), and the rest of the TBR pile is in one of my dresser drawers that got emptied out when we moved our winter clothes to the second home.
I just hope someone buys the house soon, so we can move and go back to living in a home comfortably cluttered with books!

A Dark House mystery refers the place where the murder takes place..."
We probably should move it. Good definition. The idea is that no one can leave that site and they all know one of them is the killer. That's why it works on a train or ship or a small island-- because the killer and rest can't leave. Fun stuff!
Also for Deborah, I would NOT recommend "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" as your first AC. It is unique, caused quite the sensation when it came out and no one but no one reveals the murderer. Leave it for at least #5 or 6. There isn't another one like it. That being said, I wonder how many of you will now go out and find it to read?!

I now have a new series to read and a book to look forward to when I get there!
I do love watching Marple on OPB when they do British murder mysteries. The British are great. Comedies, mysteries, Jane Austen, they all seem more real because they keep it down to earth.
Welcome, Karen! I understand very well the smaller physical stack (Cybook Opus here :D ), and I like all the genres you mention. I think that your virtual stak is going to grow a lot ]:>

Caroline, my rule has been that I never take away as many as I donate or trade in, but lately I've not been sticking to it. Wish someone would pay me to read! Now there's a thought!!

My name is Sue. I've been a member of good reads for awhile but just found this group. I love reading all genres but lately it seems as if I'm always reading YA as I'm a sixth grade teacher. In an effort to read more "grown-up" novels, I've joined a book group and attended my first literacy festival in June. It was there I attended a session featuring three mystery writers. Since then I've been hooked! I'm hoping to be able to join in some group reads as discussing the books is almost as fun as reading them for me (and most of my friends get that "glazed" look when I try to discuss a book with them)!

Thanks and hope to hear from readers, jodar

I'll look forward to sitting down with your English cozy mystery.

Again welcome everyone!

Welcome! I grew up in the bay area, and I miss the foothills!!!

I think you'll enjoy this group.

Have to agree with you on that one!!! I am living in Jersey now, but I miss the people and the pace of the Bay Area!

My family and I live in North Mississippi. We are a homeschooling family of five. I enjoy crocheting, knitting and of course reading! My favorite books are cozy mysteries (especially knit and crochet mysteries) and spy thrillers.

Hope you enjoy this group's discussions!

I've been a member for a few months now so I thought I should introduce myself.
I'm an expat living in Melbourne, Australia and I love to read (voted class bookworm in my graduating class) mostly cozies with some paranormal thrown in for variety. When I moved here from the US I sold almost everything, but the books and my two cats came with me! We are up to three cats now and 5 bookcases (who really needs a guest room, right?) and while there are no more cats on the horizon there is always room for more books. :)
I am so thrilled to have found this list, it's been a challenge to find new authors here in AU, so I've been thrilled with all the recommendations! I'm also dead jealous of all the bargains my fellow countrymen score back home as books here are stupidly expensive ($20 for most paperbacks). One of my best days here was the day I discovered the book depository and their free shipping.
It's so nice to connect with fellow cozy lovers!
Welcome Jennifer. I understand you completely (Spanish girl), and I felt the same when I discovered Book Depository.

Yes they do and I've used our local library to try out the Dresden Files series. But they just don't carry the range of cozies you can find back home. They have interlibrary loan too, but it costs over $5 per book. At that price I can have my own from book depository. :)
Australia is a wonderful place to live, but she isn't cheap! Lol
