No fresh water, got it! :D Really can't tell you how much I appreciate the insights; this stuff's been weighing on my mind like crazy!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) No worries, it's my home (no matter where I am) and I love it but it is a world away from Colorado (which I've been to once and absolutely fell in love with). I genuinely hope you enjoy living there. :)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I like Florida, but I wouldn't want to live there! I was born and raised in southern Ohio and HATE the humidity back there when I go visit family in OH & KY. We always try to hit Florida in the fall when the humidity isn't so bad. Have been in Colorado for the past 35 years and like the drier climate!

Yeah, I have a feeling it's going to take me awhile to get used to it. As long as the humidity doesn't short out my Kindle or mildew my books, I'll be good ;)

Learn to love your A/C. lol Seriously, running it keeps your house de-humidified, so no mildew on your books (or swollen door jambs, etc.)

Janis Hill (janishill) | 10 comments Hi everyone,

As I'm currently on an Agatha Raisin reading stint, when I saw this group I couldn't resist joining and dropping in to say hi!

My name is Janis and I'm from the Adelaide Hills in Australia and read many genres. Right now though, getting a good dose of M.C. Beaton/ Marion Chesney as it's winter here, I've been laid up with a badly sprained foot and can't help but enjoy whiling away the hours with a cosy crime fiction, hot chocolate and blanket on the couch.

So hello! :-)

I read and write mysteries, and I have a real weakness for cozy ones. My favorite at the moment is David Handler's Berger and Mitry Mysteries.

Chelle Ramsey (goodreadscom_chelle) | 3 comments Hi,

I'm Michelle, from Atlanta, GA. I love a good mystery book. Some of my favorite authors in the genre, are James Patterson, Stuart Woods, Mary Higgins Clark, & J.D. Robb. My favorite series outside of the Alex Cross series, are the Women's Murder Club by James Patterson.

message 2566: by Toni (new)

Toni (tcasale) | 6 comments Hi, I'm Toni & I live in Charleston, SC. I do like a good mystery, especially when the weather starts to get colder! I recently read 3 of the 4 Callie Parrish mysteries and can't wait to read the 4th. Very cute series! They take place in SC, so they're especially fun to read. And I love Karen White's books which also take place in the south. They always have an element of mystery & intrigue with an historical twist and a little romance!

message 2567: by Judy (new)

Judy Foldi (jfoldi) I have been reading 70 years, pretty much nonstop. My favorite activity. I tend to get on a reading kick of a certain genre and read for months in it then move on to another. I have been reading a lot of fantasy lately but always come back to mysteries.

Hi Judy! I'm on a fantasy kick right now, as well. I'm currently 2/3rds through the second 'Game of Thrones' book and just finished the Mallorean (David Eddings). What kind of fantasy do you like? And what kind of cozies? I'm mostly into the dog-or-cat-lover kind, but hoping to expand my horizons soon. Plenty of suggestions in this group!

message 2569: by Elaine (new)

Elaine Hi Everyone.

My name is Elaine, I was looking for a group to chat about books, and this one caught my eye. Probably about a third of the books I read are cozy mysteries. I agree with Kate - who doesn't need a good comfort read? I am especially fond of some of the animal mysteries. And like Shirley, I'm retired and enjoying getting to laze away some of my days in reading. My other favorite category is fantasy. I am waiting for some great fantasy-mystery series to take hold, LOL.

Hi Janis, I also am a fan of MC Beaton's Agatha Raisin, and they were the beginning of my cozy book obsession years ago. I also enjoyed her Hamish McBeth books, and have read all of both-hamish and Agatha. They are my favorite, and Agatha is a riot,...always makes me laugh. There are just so many cozies to pick from I always have one I am interested in, lately I breezed through the Elaine Viets series - Dead End Jobs, they were terrific!

message 2572: by Emily (new)

Kealohilani Kealohilani (halfheartslove) | 1 comments Aloha All :)

I love a good mystery and I love to talk about them with people who feel the same way. And Then There Were None By Agatha Christie has to be one of my favorite books of all time! She has inspired me in so many ways, even in the creation of my own murder mystery novel, Romeo Killed Juliet that's being released soon.

I'd love to hear what everyone's favorite mystery novels are and why :)

Mahalo,

Nancy (gr-nancy-a) | 278 comments Favorite mystery novels : the Agatha Christie one (also called Ten Little Indians) IS classic..
I enjoy all the AZ female sheriff (Joanna Brady)

I love Christie's work also; my favorite is Murder on the Orient Express.
Must say, though, that Dorothy Sayers is right up there for me, I found her main character, Lord Peter Whimsey, a very interesting sleuth, and her mysteries very clever.
Other British favorites are Josephine Tey and Margery Allingham.

Laurel (goodreadscomboddy_l) | 27 comments Hi. My name is Laurel. I am a member of several groups on GR, love challenges and read mysteries, historical fiction and nonfiction relating to the Civil War and WW 2. I love COZIES, as a fun way to relax while reading other genres, simultaneously. I live outside Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I am excited to read others' favs. I think I will do the Clue challenge that the group ran in 2010. It looks like it would be fun, and I am sure I can combine items for this challenge with some of the others I am doing.

Regina Sclafford (bibliophile3925) | 3 comments Hello Readers!

I have been gobbling up Cozies. I have a select few that I will purchase and the rest I borrow from the library. In an effort to save money! LOL. I love to read so far my must read list is triple digits. We shall see if I can dwindle it down. I love Jenn McKinlay, Jessica Beck and Joanne Fluke. I also read books by James Patterson and Erica Spindler, J.A. Konrath and many more. Can't wait to chat with fellow bookworms.

Evelyn I love mysteries and wanted somewhere to be able to share my love of these books with other people. I am kind of excited about it since where I work there is a lot of down time. I joined good reads to expand my library and love reading the reviews people have posted about books I have read.
Right now I am reading the Lindsey Boxer series and love them so far, just sad that I am half way through them.

Bian is always tired I'm new to the group and love mystery novels. I'm currently reading Due or Die by Jenn McKinlay.

Hi, my name is Darlene. I read many genres, classics and 20th Century literature, history and biography. When that gets to be too heavy or cumbersome I must turn to an old friend and comfort. There is something to be said for a cuppa and a cozy. Thanks to your group now I'll have someone to discuss them with.

My latest read has been Rys Bowen and the Royal Spyness Mystery series. So charming...
Before that I read Alan Bradley's Flavia de Luce series and can hardly wait for the next installment.
Lastly, all the Richard Jury books by Martha Grimes are really great. I wish some of those characters really existed...I would love to sit down to tea with them.
It will be great to check out what some others have read and enjoyed.
