My name is Ruby and is from Singapore. Honestly, I have never known what is the definition of cozy mystery but looking through the cozy mystery books that you guys have read in this group, I am especially excited about reading the Cupcake Bakery mystery, tea shop mystery and mrs murphy series :)
I typically read all type of genres except for sci fiction.

Thanks Sue! I am looking forward to knowing more wonderful cozy mysteries titles to add to my to read shelf :)

I'm Juliet from Singapore and I have just came to know about Cozy Mysteries. I have been seeing those books for such a long time and it was only recently that I realized they are called cozy mysteries and hence found this group!
Hope to be able to find more series to read!

I'm Gillian from Massachusetts and I've just joined Goodreads. My husband told me about it. I love knitting, cats, and reading, especially cozies. I'm having a great time checking things out.

Hi, my name is Cathy Ace and, when I found this group, I couldn't resist joining. I live in Vancouver, BC, but am originally from Swansea, South Wales. Yes, I'm an author of "cozies", but I won't shove that down anyone's throat...if you see what I mean - YIKES, must remember this is for readers who, like me, love a murder mystery! I have grown up, like so many folks, reading and loving Agatha Christie, as well as Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys etc, Ngaio Marsh, Dorothy L Sayers, Conan Doyle...I could just list a lot of names, but we all know that what I am really saying is that I am addicted to crime puzzles, preferably with the odd corpse or two thrown in for good measure. I'm looking forward to mixing with a group of people who are obviously blessed with the same good sense that I find myself enjoying!

I'm new to the group. I decided to do a challenge on cozy mysteries, so I'm here for suggestions!
Hi, I'm Farrow. I'm totally new to cosy mysteries and just started my very first one
It's so much fun to discover this whole new (for me) genre =-)
Feel free to add me as a friend, I would love to be notified on reviews from cosy mystery readers =-)
I'm happy I found this group.

I'm Anne. New to Good Reads (and thus this group). Looking forward to discovering new authors. And discussing old favorites, including Sayers, Marsh, and Stout.

The oldies are often the goodies...and now, as a writer, I find it's interesting to read the books that are "where it all began"

Hi Sue - YAY - I enjoy Tamar Myers too!

Hi Cathy :) Yeah! Susannah cracks me up with the lil dog she keeps in her bra LOL Mags mouth, you never know what shes going to say...i love it <3!!!

My name is Maria. I am from Queens, New York. I love cozy mystery books. I also enjoy reading Christian fiction.

Leslie, Thank You! I will put it toward the top of my list.

well actually, anyone else is also welcome to do that. my cozies are ebooks.

I am a writer, but I only have one mystery story published. My books and other stories lean more towards alternate history and urban fantasy. Reading mysteries is my fun escape!
I look forward to chatting with people here!

good to meet everyone, looking forward to our interactions.

Favorite authors: Marie Bostwick, Teri Thayer, Cleo Coyle, Clare O'Donohue and some James Patterson

Kristin

I looked thru some of the posts a few days ago and made a list of authors to check out over the holidays, but was disappointed with both the Elizabeth MacLeod (The Balloon Man) and the Joanne Fluke (The Cinnamon Roll Mystery). I just started Laura Childs, The Teaberry Strangler, which seems a little more intelligent and complex.
Suggestions, anyone??
Thanks so much,
Louise Mann

They're not period mysteries like the ones you mention, but I find Susan Wittig Albert's China Bayles books and Earlene Fowler's Benni Harper books to be very good.

have you tried Victoria Thompson's gaslight mysteries, with mid-wife heroine Sarah Brandt and her detective friend, Frank Malloy? they take place in New York City about the turn of the century.
for fairly light fare there is also Lilian Jackson Braun and "the cat who...." series.
