Leighann Dobbs (leedobbins) | 6 comments Hi everyone - I'm Lee from New Hampshire. I've been reading cozy mysteries for decades - long before I even knew that the books I liked reading were called "cozy mysteries".

I don't think I could pick a favorite author, but I do particularly love books with dogs and cats in them.

Hey Tonya, I just read A Charming Crime a few weeks back and I absolutely loved it. I keep wishing my cat would bring me charms though. LOL. Can't wait to read the new one in that series.

Sue (suetinge) | 622 comments Welcome Louise! You don't have to read the listed book by the featured author - anything she wrote will work.

Tonya Kappes (tonyakappes) Hi, Louise! I love my ereader too!! Nothing like it AND the DH loves that I don't take a suitcase of books when we travel.

I think the big back of books at my feet in the van when we travel was a major factor in my husband deciding I needed an e-reader.

message 2077: by Laura (new)

Laura | 2 comments My name is Laura, I am 43 and live in Oklahoma but my heart is and always will be in Montana. I am here because of my hubby who has a good job here.
I read a lot. I would much rather curl up with a good book and my dog and cat curled up with me than watch television, except big bang theory and ncis.
I read a little bit of everything but I love mysteries most. Currently I have been reading paranormal mysteries mostly, but I am happy to read other stuff too.
I cant work due to a medical condition, or rather conditions, and the one good thing about that is lots of time to read.

Hi Nathania,
How about characters in their late twenties and a series that involves whitewater rafting? The two books that are published so far in my RM Outdoor Adventures series are Deadly Currents and Wicked Eddies.

Beth (Duffy2012) | 6 comments Hello! My name is Beth and I live in northeast Ohio. I recently discovered the Goodreads site when I was reading Mike Grost's amazing website on mysteries, and am still finding my way around. Cozies are my favorite sub-genre, along with the Golden-Age mysteries, and I'm always looking for new authors.
I tend to go through a book a day, so my library has been somewhat out of control until I got a Kindle, and now I'm happily scouting for books that are available for Kindle at low prices! My most recent find has been Fran Stewart's Biscuit McKee books, beginning with "Orange as Marmalade" (Marmalade is Ms. McKee's cat). I'm looking forward to joining in the discussions here!

Deborah Garner | 4 comments Hello, cozy mystery fans! I'm delighted to find this group. I've read the self-promotion rules and will be prudent about following them. Mainly, I'm excited to be here because I'm always searching for books to read that aren't filled with violence, horror, etc. I truly wasn't aware of this "genre" until recently. I'm looking forward to following along and hearing recommendations :) Many thanks, Debbie

Richard Hi All,

I'm Richard Cunningham, a Houston-based science journalist who has written his first novel. My wife calls it "historical mystery." Some call it a "cozy," and one author called it "a romance."

Now I'm confused. ;- )

I look forward to following your discussions and learning more about these books you call "cozies."

Cheers,
Richard

Maria Hi! My name is Maria and I am from Moscow Idaho. I found this group through M.C. Beaton's page. I adore cozy mysteries though I didn't know that is what they were called :). I am very excited to find new authors and their series.

message 2099: by Marcia (new)

Marcia | 1 comments Hi, my name is Marcia and I just joined. I love cozy mysteries especially those with women protagonists that are sassy and funny. Favorites include Donna Andrews and Lisa Lutz, but I also love Agatha! I work full time and have lots of other interests, so it takes me a while just to read 1 book. Guess that makes me a "lightweight" for this group, but it looks really well organized and will I'm sure give me a lot of great ideas for my next read.

message 2100: by Richard (new)

Richard Hi Marcia,
Sorry for not responding to your first note. I'm still not sure if you were talking to me or the group as a whole. Just in case, "Hi." ;- )
My wife and I live in Houston. I'm a science writer and she teaches Art History at the University of Houston.

Like you, I recently joined GoodReads and I'm enjoying the chance to see what other people are reading and follow their reviews. I've already learned of several good books that I probably wouldn't have found on my own.

Moscow, Idaho -- an interesting name!

Cheers,
Richard
