Welcome Ursula. Also Erin - the cozy mystery has one section where author members sign in (a good place to discover new ones). Damaskcat (did I get that right?) I much prefer cozy over violence too. I especially hate being in the villain's viewpoint. Welcome Lisa from Provo. Also Candace. Do you like historical English mysteries? I've just discovered author Charles Finch with his laid-back style, very English.

I don't choose to read many thrillers because of the graphic violence. Lisa, I lived in the Provo/Orem areas for 35 years and have a daughter who is living in Spanish Fork (a really small town). I enjoy the Cynthia Harrod-Eagles historical Moreland series. I think I'm on 20 something. Only recently did I realize how many English mysteries I read during the year. Nearly a third of all my books :). You'll all find lots of books to feed your cozy reading habit. Happy reading and sharing.

M C Beaton is one of my favourite authors. I have yet to try Sue Grafton but have A is for Alibi in my Kindle.
Thanks for the welcome - I'm sure I'm going to love it here. :-)

Looking forward to connecting with all of you and looking at your recommendations!

Hi Cheryl! I am new to the group too but Welcome! We have something in common other than our new group......I grew up and graduated from high school in Lincoln Park, Downriver Detroit (many years ago). Sharon

Cathy - I think it takes a bit of practice to get used to the site but once you do it will feel easy to navigate. I'd recommend just poking around - you'll find lots of recommendations for new books to try.

Glad to meet you, Isabele. You sound like the kind of person I would like to be.

A lot of Mary Stewart's heroines are in their early 20's.

I saw an advertisement on Goodreads site for one that falls into the YA (young adult) category. The title is "Unspoken" and the author is Sarah Rees Brennan. I don't read the YA books but I have to say, I want to read this one. You may find it interesting. I have seen many posts on the cozy site referring to the YA category so you may want to browse through the past posts & scan them for those that read YA and liked them.
Hi. My name is Elaina. I discovered a love for mysteries when I picked up the first book in the In Death series. Now I'm continuously on a search for more.

I read a fair amount of YA, but I mostly prefer my YA to be urban fantasy so if there's a mystery as part of the story it's usually secondary.

Hi,
Harlan Coban has written Shelter - YA mystery. To check the book trailer to see if its' cozy enough , you can visit his website.Coban usaully writes adult novels -most of his Bolitar novels would probably classify as cozy.

I just joined goodreads. I live in Arlington, VA (US) and my favorite cozy author is M.C. Beaton.
My first cozy was just published but I'll save promo for a later date when I'm a bit more established and I'll put it in the proper folder.
This group seems wonderful!
Stephen Kaminski

I love Coben's Myron Bolitar books, but would never consider them "cozy". Absolutely nothing "cozy" about Win!! LOL
