Introduce yourself - archived

I love cozies because they give me the suspense without the gore. My family recently took a trip to London and my daughter surprised me with a day trip to the Cotswold. I was so excited it was as though I was going to meet up with an old friend. Its so funny the murder plot in these books are interesting but the relationships, and sense of community these books portray is what really keeps me coming back.

Nice to meet you all :)

Hi Stephanie,
If you like Maggie Sefton, you will probably like Mary Kruger and Sally Goldenbaum. One of my all time favorites is Tim Myers. If you have a Nook, I would be happy to lend you some cozy mysteries.

There are several authors I like for culinary mysteries. Have you tried Livia J. Washburn, Miranda Bliss, Joanna Fluke, Claudia Bishop, Tamar Myers, or Diane Motts Davidson?

I've read many others as well, but too many to list here.
Hi, Jim, Silvia, Josephine, Tina, Stephanie, Traci, Catarina, and Joanna. (Whew, a lot of new ones.) Jim and everyone looking for new authors - there's a discussion especially for authors to introduce themselves. Good place to find new ones to read. Stephanie, you can download a free Kindle or Nook on your computer and get books through their sites, or through smashwords.com. Many are $2.99 or less. Of course, it's always nice to add books to the public library.

All my works are mysteries at their heart, flavored by a little "Indian Jones", and I'm told some of Nelson DeMille's style may have crept in. There's also a scent of Michael Crichton present. Please check out my website for excerpts, synopses and book trailers at http://www.gracepublishing.org.
Cheers !

Yes, I have read Hamish McBeth books but not them all. My mother really liked them so I have quite a few at my house now that she's passed away. My husband and I also watched from Netflix the BBC or ITV show based on them. Hamish can be a bit bizarre but Agatha is even more eccentric and not very nice at all sometimes.

Joanna, you may be interested in a new cozy author/series I've found and like very much, the Corinna Chapman series by Kerry Greenwood, which starts with Earthly DelightsGreat characters and interesting plotlines that avoid the 'dumb blonde' syndrome (you know, the dizty blonde that always opens the door into the cellar after she's told not to!) For an atypical British cozy you may want to add the Miss Seeton books by Heron Carvic to your list, very British . They are a stand-by re-read for me and I still giggle at the opening scene in the first bookPicture Miss Seeton every time, a true classic!
Marshall, your books sound as if they would be very much in the A/A line that I like, always looking for action/archaelogy/alien storylines. The Indiana Jones movies are among the handful of movies I've liked in the last 20 years or so and I've always been an Alastair MacLean and Desmond Bagley fan. Was very pleased to see that The Ice Cap and the Rift is currently a free download.

I'm Cassie, and I have been sampling many different cozy mystery series in the last couple of years. I read many other genres, particularly history and classic fiction, but really anything. Outside of books, I love taking care of my dogs, and also occasionally my friend's dogs if she and her husband are out of town. I also like to try new recipes, and volunteer at the historical society in town. Looking forward to lots of great book chats!

Two additional books that I've liked very much with a dog related theme, though more in the mystery/thriller genre with a bit of supernatural, are by Iris Johansen, Dark Summer and The Search

Welcome, Aprill. I did some humanitarian work in the Philippines during 2008-09 in Quezon City, Rizal, and San Jose. Had an interesting time. Read alot of books about the country then and was glad I finished the last (then) Twilight book that was out. Beautiful people with big smiles and very polite and friendly.

I am Nicole, 36 years old and living in Germany.
I love to read since I started school. And just like Dipanjan I don't like libraries but have to own the books. But thanks to Kindle I do not need an extra apartment for my books.
I love cozy mysteries, do not have a particular favourite series but at the moment I love the books by M. C. Beaton most, especially Hamish Macbeth.
Looking forward to find new books to read here.

I've recently just hit 1050 physical books (not counting my partners books - I keep threatening to make his 'disappear' to make more room for mine. lol) I've already taken over the 'guest room'... we'll have to build up pretty soon! :D

When I looked at the Amazon listing just a few minutes ago there were 40 likes listed. Temporary glitch?

Welcome Erin!

I've just joined the group and I love cosy mysteries. I really dislike crime stories where the emphasis is on the violence and the graphic descriptions.

Welcome! I also dislike graphic descriptions and lots of violence -- I think you will find that is common with most of us here...
