Ron'a Bird (roki) | 3 comments Hello everyone,

My name is Ronda. I live in the suburbs of Minneapolis with my husband, Rodney, and our cat, Hawthorne.

I have been reading cozy mysteries for decades now. They are my very favorite type of fiction. I am hoping to meet others here that have the same love!

message 1852: by Alan (new)

Alan Hi Ronda,
Do you write as well as read cozy mysteries? I'm sure hoping that my detective/mystery novel, "I'm No P.I.", does well. Because I live in St. Louis, I placed the setting of the novel in St. Louis. I have one other book with Kindle--a book with three spooky stories in it. That one hasn't done very well in sales, so I'm hoping that this one doess better. Nice speaking with you, Alan Zacher.

message 1853: by [deleted user] (new)

Hello Denee, Bobbi, and Ronda. Denee, my daughter in Florida has the same problem - degree in Interior Design, and Archetecture as well. Not much doing in either field.

You'll hear about a lot of good books here.

message 1854: by Alan (new)

Alan I'll say a prayer that your daughter finds a job. Alan

Welcome Denee. I love book blogs. I'll have to check yours out. Hi Bobbi from another mystery writer. Hello Ronda. Lots of mystery readers here, for sure! And writers-see Bobbi, Beth, Alan, Liam, and me just on this page alone (that I know of).

message 1857: by Lorne (new)

Lorne Oliver | 1 comments Hi all. My name is Lorne. I recently released my first ebook, Red Island: A Novel, which is a thriller about the hunt for Prince Edward Island's first serial killer. It gives the reader a glimps at both sides. I love thrillers and mysteries. I grew up reading Sherlock Holmes and watching the crime shows on tv. Right now I am reading Kathy Reichs and Tess Gerritsen novels and dreaming about being that well known some day. I joined this group to try and advertise my own novel, but I think talking to others about what I love to read is going to be even more fun.

But of course I must advertise www.facebook.com/redislandnovel

I hope to meet everyone and have some great conversations.

Charity | 1 comments Hi Everyone!

My name is Charity. I recently joined GR a few months ago. I'm a book addict! I read a wide variety, but mysteries are my favorite!! :) I have a number of favorite authors .....Kathy Lee Herman, Carolyn Hart, James Patterson, and so many more!

I'm guilty of not being able to read just one book at a time! LOL! And buying books at thrift stores, yard sales, etc. is my weakness! And, I can't seem to sale a book either! (yes, I can return them though!) LOL!

I'm a single mom of 3, and live in NW Arkansas. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Happy reading!

The book version can only be bought through its publisher, Post Mortem Press. It's a fun read. Talk with you later. Alan Zacher

Cindi Schultz (scrappy1teacher) | 56 comments Hi! My name is Cindi. I joined Good Reads back in November and have just spent time exploring and found this group. I live in Chattanooga TN. I am a teacher and LOVE to spend my summers reading! The first cozy mystery I read was Sprinkle with Murder by Jenn McKinlay. I have since fallen in love with this genre!!! I just finished reading Sympathy for the Devil by Jerrilyn Farmer. Good book. I have been reading only the first book in several series just to expand my author likes. Obviously I will go back and read the other books. The authors I have read so far: Laura Durham, Rita Lakin, Rhonda Pollero, Kate Collins, Laura Levine, Peggy Webb, Elaine Viets, Jessica Conant Park, and Melinda Wells. I look forward to hearing recommendations you all might have. Thanks! :-)

Maria Swan (scrittrice) | 68 comments Hello, I'm not new to the group, I receive all the messages, I have been working on my challenge, however, this evening when I was finally done with the last book I came to fill in my list and was told I don't belong to the group and also all my previously read and reviewed books are gone, it's like I never was here. I'm very, very confused. I will post the list of my Cozy Themes challenge, but not sure where my profile/account ended up. Anyone? Maria Grazia Swan

Helen Haught Fanick (helenhaughtfanick) | 23 comments Hi Anika. Welcome to Cozy Mysteries Group! Do you have a Kindle? If so, my suspense novel, Saving Susie, is free now through Sunday, June 15-17. It's not a cozy, but I think cozy readers would enjoy it. Best to you in sunny Bermuda!

Al Stevens | 2 comments It's good to see so many cozy fans gathered here. I am a fan of the old writers, Doyle, Christie, and that ilk, and read most of their books when I was much younger.

After a long career writing computer books and a short one writing mysteries, I decided to do a cozy that had been lurking in the back of my head. It will be out sometime early next year, so this isn't an announcement. Not sure exactly when because it's a function of the publisher's schedule.

I live in Florida on the Space Coast. I look forward to meeting all of you.

message 1873: by Al (new)

Al Stevens | 2 comments I should add that my wife Judy reads all the Cat novels, the ones about quilters, and I don't know what else. But she always has a book going. She was one of my beta readers.

message 1875: by Renee (new)

Renee | 1 comments Hi folks,
My name is Renee and although I sometimes get inspired to read a great big classic or something in French, I always return to mysteries. I'm not sure if my favs qualify as "cozy" though, so please let me know.

I'm currently re-reading all of the Arthur W. Upfield books that I haven't loaned out to family members, who are also enjoying them. I have one and plan to get more by Elizabeth Peters. And have any of you ever read the Sparkle Hayter books? They are so laugh-out-loud, fall off the couch funny it's hard to even qualify them as mysteries, but I highly recommend them!

Hope to learn more from all of you, and I might even get a Nook so my husband will let me read in bed.

Oh yes, I'm from Green Bay and currently live in Madison, Wisconsin.

Alan... I am in St. Louis too. Do you belong to any writing groups here?

Denee... maybe you should try out for Design Star! I am a reality tv addict.

Bobbi... my family is in the Texas Hill country

Robin... Japan...that should be fun. Games? I have seen the games here and I love games, but I haven't quite figured out how to play them. Is there a thread with instructions?

Anika... maybe we should all come visit you in Bermuda!

Maria - Its like you are in your own mystery story...everything is gone as if you never existed.

And welcome to anyone I may have missed.

Jenn Saam | 7 comments I can't remember if I have already introduced myself so if I have then skip this message. I am a 3rd grade school teacher from Colorado. I read everything but just have started getting into mysteries. When I am not reading I am an avid runner planning on running my 4th half marathon. I have also started gardening. I am hoping I can keep my herb garden alive through the summer. I am really excited about this group and hope to get a lot of great suggestions.

message 1884: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Hi, I'm Bonnie. I work as a school psychologist, have 3 grown kids, and read lots of genres. Recently I have been in a cozy and suspense mood, and needing a break from long historicals- so I thought I'd join this group for more ideas. Looking at the shelves there seems to be many I did read long ago, but haven't added on my goodreads read shelf yet. Unfortunately with cozy series, I often love them and read a lot, but don't remember specific titles.

message 1886: by Liz (last edited Jun 23, 2012 03:53PM) (new)

Liz | 55 comments Hello All,

I'm Liz. I'm a teacher in NYC. I read during my commute to and from work, as well as before bed. I usually read about one book per week. Lately, I've been trying to keep costs down, and rely on the public library a lot. It's putting a bit of a cramp in my reading selection.

As for my favorite series, I really love the Gaslight series by Victoria Thompson, The Domestic Diva series by Krista Davis, and most of the Coffeehouse series by Cleo Coyle (there were a few duds though). I also really like Mary Higgins Clark and Agatha Christie. I I like to cook and taste good food, so I tend to read mysteries that contain recipes.

I haven't really participated in the boards much. I'm looking forward to getting to know others and finding out about great cozy mysteries :)

I'm in Aurora. Imagine you're getting some of the smoke from all of these out of control fires. I'm beginning to wonder if the state is going to burn down this summer.

Where I live there aren't too many garage sales :) Sometimes the books I want to read aren't available in the library. So, I buy them online. They're usually anwhere from a penny or to a few dollars. With shipping it usually ends up being $3-5.

There was one day that was really bad with smoke. I know what you mean about the whole state catching on fire. I can't remember a time where there were this many fires. I have only been here for 6 years though. I have a new fire pit and a bag of marshmallows that I have been dying to use.

We've been here since 1978 and this is the most fires I can remember burning at one time before. In 2002 when the Hayman fire was down in the Castle Rock area there were others burning, but not as many as right now I don't think. That was a bad one, though. The smoke was awful here in the Denver aread with that one.
