Dianne | 218 comments Welcome Peg and Bo

Peg have you tried the kindle or nook apps? You can make the text as big as you need and they have free and library books.

i would love to get a kindle but there seems to be so many i have no idea how they are
i was wondering if the one for about 79 dollars is good; all i would like is to read books from it; i would want something easy to handle, nothing complicated

message 1403: by Dianne (new)

Dianne | 218 comments I have the kindle 3 and only put books on it. Best buy sells them also so you could go to the store and see if you like that one or not.

Welcome to more new ones (from a pretty new one). Peg, I'm still struggling to see mass market paperbacks, but the ones they call trade paperback have larger print. Cost a little more, of course. I notice a lot of new cozies are coming out in trade paperback.

message 1407: by [deleted user] (new)

thanks, norma, that's good to know. i am not that crazy about paperbacks unless the print is a bit larger...cannot tell you how many i had to pass up; i can force myself to read them, as i do have reading glasses 1.50 but its very annoying...i just personally feel you can read a longer period of time when the print is not that small

Lydia (welshbookworm) | 2 comments Hello everyone, you're going to have to help me with recommendations as I've only read a few cozy mysteries with varied success. I'm Lydia from sunny South Wales (Tom Jones' Wales, not the Aussie one).

message 1411: by Mike (new)

Mike Bove (mikebove) | 8 comments I have already received benefits from joining this forum. I met Vickie from mystery-cozy.com (not cozy-mystery.com) and will be listed with other authors. I will advertise my book there, and offer copies as prizes.

Beth | 616 comments Welcome, Carol, Maurie, Katie, Peg, Bo, Mike, and Lydia! Wow, quite a large crop of new members since I last checked this thread.

Peg, I have to wear 2.0 reading glasses, so I know what you mean when you talk about how hard reading small print is. I'm very glad that all three of my mysteries are available in large-print for readers like you & me!

message 1414: by [deleted user] (new)

beth, what are the names of your books?

message 1415: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome Mike and Lydia - and probably others I haven't mentioned. I'm new at this, since I just joined Cozy a few days ago. Mike, you give me something to look into.

message 1416: by Andrea (new)

Andrea Stein (girlmogul) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Andrea and fan of cozy mysteries ever since I read my mom's Agatha Christie's. I love good cozy since I love the challenge of an amateur trying to solve a "crime" - plus I love series so those characters can become friends.
I live in rural New Jersey (yes there is such a thing) and have young kids - and never enough time to read...

Welcome Andrea. I live in sort of rural Pennsylvania, not that far away.

message 1423: by Ana (new)

Ana (brazilianmelody) | 2 comments Hi all, Ana here. I saw that my friend Linda is a member of this group, and being very much a cozy reader myself, I decided to join. :)

I'm definitely a mystery/suspense fan, thanks to my grandmother reading me books like the Boxcar Children and Nancy Drew books when I was little. To this day I love curling up with a blanket, a cup of coffee, and a captivating good book.

message 1424: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Ana,

Welcome. I read a LOT of Nancy Drew myself!

message 1425: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments Hi all, Born and grew up in northern NJ which when I was a kid was also rural. Am now in really rural western MD, living on a mountaintop. My cozy reading has expanded since coming to this site.

They're good books! I've been tempted to reread some of them, or go back and find ones I never read before. You can't outgrow Nancy Drew!

Hi Peg,
Thanks so much for asking! I have two books out so far in the Claire Hanover gift basket designer series:
A Real Basket Case (hardcover)
A Real Basket Case (paperback, ebook)
To Hell in a Handbasket (hardcover)

And, I have one book out so far in the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Adventure mystery series:
Deadly Currents
If you want to see the cover art for the second one, due in May, 2012, go to my website:

Beth Amos | 5 comments Hi to all from another Beth (Beth Amos). I've been lurking here for quite a while and I've been on Goodreads since 2009. I used to read a lot of thrillers and horror, but I find as I've gotten older that I lean more toward mysteries, cozies in particular. And I've gotten some great ideas here that have expanded my TBR pile exponentially. Good thing I have an e-reader or I'd have stacks to the ceiling!

Marie (daffodilbookshelf) (daffodilbookshelf) | 17 comments Hello everyone! My name is Marie and I'm new to the group. Some of my favorite cozy mystery authors are
Susan Wittig Albert ( Cottage Tales series), Laura Childs ( Tea Shop series), Monica Ferris and Joanna Campbell Slan. I also enjoy Bill Crider ( Sheriff Rhodes), Steven J. Havill( Posadas County) and Louise Penny but I don't know if you would consider them to be cozies.

Butterflycager Hello, everyone. My name is Jules, and I'm a 41-year-old SAHM currently living in Frankfort, KY with my husband and two young daughters. We are a reading family - Tim and I take the girls to the library every Saturday morning. I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't in the middle of a book, and I particularly enjoy urban fantasy, retold fairy tales, historical fiction, and all kinds of mysteries. My favorite cozy authors include Alice Kimberly (aka Cleo Coyle), Susan Wittig Albert/Robin Paige, Shirley Damsgaard, and Alan Bradley.

No, farther east than that. They're in Morgan county, about halfway between Lexington and West Virginia.

Sarah (graphicdesigner09) | -10 comments Hello, I'm Sarah N., I added my middle initial coz I know we have more than 1 Sarah. I happened to stumble upon this group and hope its a nice fit for me. I love reading Culinary Mysteries (or romance mystery books etc). I just finished Jenn McKinlay books - her Cupcake Bakery Mystery series, and Jessica Beck books - her Donut Shop Mysteries. I cant seem to get away from those books and I need some new ones to read so I hope I can find some suggestions from this group.

I live in Southern Wisconsin, and Im currently unemployed because my store went out of business. I worked in a bookstore for almost 5 years and I really really miss it. Its only been 2 months and I feel so lost without knowing what new books are coming out. Hopefully I can get some updates on new books here. Oh! and I'm 26, and currently dating my bf of 2 years and 4 months.

Welcome to Jules and Sarah!

Sarah, it seems we are "neighbors." I am in the Madison area myself. Did you get much snow down by you today? About 2-1/2 inches here, but that's better than what they were getting west and north of here!

message 1450: by Beth (new)

Beth Amos | 5 comments I'm just outside of Madison, too.
