Hello, Rhys! I absolutely adore your books; Naughty in Nice arrived on my doorstep today and I find myself turning around every so often in my chair to admire the Royal Spyness collection sitting on my bookshelf. :P

message 1308: by Toni (last edited Sep 19, 2011 02:22PM) (new)

Toni | 32 comments Hi! I am new here. Just discovered this genre and I really like it! In the past I have read a lot of YA, paranormal, self help etc etc...and the cozy mystery genre is quite enjoyable to read. I do not like all the violence or over the top romance in my books so these are perfect! I am Toni from Texas.
:)

message 1316: by Renee (new)

Renee | 1 comments Hi, my name is Renee. I just joined the group and goodreads. Cozies are by far my favorite genre. I started by reading Agatha Christie and was hooked from there. I do read a little bit of everything, but always come back to my cozy mysteries. I am currently reading the Haunted Bookshop Series which have been fun reads(good for the fall/Halloween time). Look forward to discovering & discussing new books and series in this group. Thanks!

Beth | 616 comments I've been vacationing and book researching, so it's been awhile since I've checked this thread. I want to extend a warm welcome to Kouk, Maliha, Bazzie, Mike, Toni, Denise, Renee, and Carolyn! Wow, lots of new members, and there's lots of cozies out there for you to choose from. In addition to those recommended by the group members, here's a useful website for finding mystery series that match your interests:

message 1323: by Kathleen (last edited Sep 29, 2011 03:53PM) (new)

Kathleen Valentine Hello,

I'm Kathleen and I'm both an avid reader and a writer. I also blog about writing (and knitting and cooking and lots of other random stuff) at Parlez-Moi Blog.

As a writer I've published a couple novels, novelettes, some short stories and a variety of books and booklets on knitting lace. As a reader I love nearly anything that is well written. I'm a fan of Carol Goodman, Kate Morton, ADORE James Lee Burke, and Cara Black.

I'll wait until I get to know everyone a little better before I say anything about my books. Thanks for the group.

Jane Reads | 231 comments Hey, Y'all!

I'm Jane in Columbia, SC. I've been a mystery fan ever since elementary school, when I read every Nancy Drew book I could get my hands on.

Some of my current favorite authors are Sue Grafton, Marcia Muller, Nevada Barr, Barbara Michaels / Elizabeth Peters, Lauren Willig, Shirley Rousseau Murphy, Diane Mott Davidson, Laurell K Hamilton, Jill Churchill, Nancy Martin, J K Rowling, Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

Jen | 7 comments Hi, all! I live in the heart of Silicon Valley. I discovered Cozy Mysteries a few years ago browsing the mystery paperbacks at the local library. Being a foodie, one of the catering themes caught my eye. I'm hooked! I love, love, love the cozy's in the areas of my personal interests. SOMEDAY, I have a plan for series I may write myself. If I can just figure out who to kill off....

Beth | 616 comments Welcome, Kathleen, Jane, and Jen!

Jen, is the catering series you're reading the one written by my fellow Colorado mystery author, Diane Mott Davidson? If you ever get a chance to go to one of her signings, you should. She hands out delicious homemade cookies.

Jane, I, too, started on Nancy Drew.

message 1340: by Debra (new)

Debra Goldstein (debrahgoldstein) | 19 comments Hi! I'm a fairly new member on Goodreads and a fairly newly published author. The best way to describe me is to say that I hate to be pigeon-holed. Debra H. Goldstein, judge, author, litigator, wife, step-mom, mother of twins, civic volunteer, Yankee, and Southern Woman writer are all words that have been used to describe me. Maze in Blue, my debut cozy, is set on the University of Michigan's campus in the 1970's. Go Blue! -- said even though I live in Alabama and am married to a man whose blood runs crimson. Although my first novel is a mystery, my favorite type of fun reading, my writings have ranged from non-fiction essays and legal articles to humorous law related short stories. I'm looking forward to being part of this group and becoming friends with many of you. As I write this, I'm reading Donna Andrews' Stork Raving Mad.

Welcome, Debra! Being a dyed in the wool Buckeye through & through it might be hard to pick up your book, especially with the time period being what it is, but I might be able to force myself! LOL

Debra Goldstein (debrahgoldstein) | 19 comments Just reading this thread, my TBR list is about to grow (once I get better at manipulating this board) - So many of you are listing authors I've read for years like Diane Mott Davidson, Hart, Grafton, etc, but then there are new ones to me like Coyle. Being new to the board and already excited about what I can learn from the Cozy Group, I'd like to invite any of you who would like to be friends to contact me (invite me) .

Debra: You'll get the hang of things and learn your way around in no time. As I've suggested to other newcomers, be sure to check out the group "bookshelf" (top right of board) for more cozy mystery recommendations. The featured author section is also a great way to find new-to-you authors.

message 1350: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (procrastisarah) | 7 comments Hi all. My name is Sarah, and I hail from the faraway island of New Zealand. I love my mystery books late at night; Agatha Christie is my standby and i recently found the Scrapbooking series by Laura Childs. I'm looking forward to discovering new cozy mystery writers (I can see a few in the above comments that I will certainly be on the look out for at the library), and give my Agatha's a break.
