Welcome, Brett. You'll find lots of suggestions here!

I also love McCrumb's Appalachian Ballad books, too. Haven't pulled the trigger yet on

Welcome to the list and happy reading!

I wouldn't think the ballad Sharyn McCrumb's would be considered cozy either...I keep them on my 'traditional' shelf. The Elizabeth MacPherson books are cozy though, and I have the two Jay Omega books on the cozy shelf too.

I enjoy a lot of different types of books but I really love mysteries so looking forward to finding some good ones here and hopefully meeting some new people !
Feel free to add me as a friend always looking for more people to share books with and get new read ideas! Thanks!

I only joined GoodReads recently, and this is my first post in one of the groups. I'm introducing myself here first, because of the book I'm reading now.
I'm Ann from Belgium... I've always been a voracious reader, and I started reading in English years ago, because that was a bit cheaper: English books are cheaper than Dutch translations, and I read them slower :-).
I'm now reading 'Death in la Fenice' by Donna Leon. I don't know if this completely qualifies as a 'cozy mystery', but for me it feels cozy:
I love Italy, and Venice is one of my favourite cities, and Donna Leon's descriptions of the city life are so nice. It's so nice to curl up with this book and seeing the landmarks before me...
I also like her drawing of Commissario Brunetti and his family, although I must admit that in this #1 of the series (not the first that I'm reading), she doesn't elaborate much of his personal life.
I fear that I'm merely introducing a book than myself, but maybe you'll come to know me better in the future...

Rhys,
It's about time you showed up here! I'm glad to see you participating.

Hello,
I am an American who is temporally living in the Cornwall area of the UK for the next few years. In the US, I lived in Penna, Ohio, Calif, Texas, and Colorado. Some of my favorite cozy authors are: Melanie Jackson, Kate Carlisle, Alan Bradley, Jennie Bentley, and Lorna Barrett. I am always looking for new authors to read. I tend not to like the coffee house or cooking theme books because I neither cook nor drink coffee. The stories are good but I can do without the recipes and the discourse on the perfect expresso.

No, I've read the Ellen McKenzie series (Sorry if my next sentence in the post confused you about the Lavene's book). I'm glad there is a newer one out! I'll have to order it! And I love Italian Greyhounds! (Didn't you have one in a picture I saw on the web?)
