Hi all,My name is Laura DiSilverio and I write mysteries under my own name (Mall Cop series and Swift Investigations series) and as Lila Dare (Southern Beauty Shop series). I created a Goodreads account a while back but am just now exploring the site. What a fabulous resource. I've added five books to the TBR pile on my bedside table--recommended by you all--since I started lurking here this week.
I live in Colorado, have a 14 yr-old and an 11-yr old, a hubby, and a Wire-haired Pointing Griffon. When I'm not writing or shuttling my kids to activities, I'm reading or working out.

Welcome, Laura! I love your Southern Beauty Shop series! Haven't read the others, but think I have the Mall Cop book sitting in my Amazon cart! I'm also in CO, in the Denver metro area!
Sarah, do not despair. Ponder all those things you love to do, choose a favorite, and try to create a cozy mystery using that as your "hook." Hi,My name is Dee and I have been on goodreads for a while. I enjoy a varied of books including some cozies. I absolutely loved Kerry Greenwood's Phyrne Fisher series as well as her bakery series. All set in Australia! Also a Maisie Dobbs fan, can't wait for the next installment. The No. 1 Detective Agency is another favorite, waiting on a new one there too. Not so cozy....Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, and the list goes on...lol.

For the rest of you, Laura and I both live in Colorado Springs and know each other well. There must be something in the water or the high-altitude air hereabouts that gets writers itching to kill off people--imaginary people, that is. :)

Hello!I'm J.J. Murphy. I've been on Goodreads for months now and I can't believe I never knew about this group! I'm glad to be here. I'm a mystery writer myself (Algonquin Round Table Mysteries -- the second book comes out in December), and a busy parent. So, unfortunately, I don't have much time left over for reading fiction. Holmes and Perry Mason are definitely popular mystery series, though I've only read one Sherlock Holmes and that years ago.

Hello - I just joined this group. I like mystery books over everything else, and hadn't seen this group before. I've read lots of Dick Francis and Lilian Jackson Braun, so I'm excited to see the comments on their books. I live in Victoria, Canada.
Hi Lorraine! When the weather's really hot here, I often wish I was in Canada! LOL I've always loved Dick Francis and LJB books as well. I'm sure you'll get lots more ideas for your TBR pile here.

Hi I'm Lori from Oregon, WI - I have loved mysteries since I picked up my first Nancy Drew (probably still have it too!). That is what I read mostly. I have heard the term Cozy mystery and never knew what it meant until someone explained it to me. Anyway I have been a member since mid July and am loving every minute. I am enjoying meeting new people and seeing where they are from. I am also getting many ideas for things to read.Happy reading everyone.

Othelie: You are definitely in the right place with this group. I did not get to travel farther north than Stavanger, but would love to see more of the country some day, perhaps Tromso, where one of my great grandfathers came from.
Fairly new to GR (via FB) and new to this group. I live in the Austin, TX area and love to read lots of stuff but cozies are my guilty pleasures. My favorite authors are Kate Collins and Diane Mott Davidson but I've got a ton of new-to-me authors on my TBR shelf and by reading through this group, I've picked up a couple more. No one in my bookclub likes cozies like I do, so I am glad I found this group!

Welcome Lori and Michele. Lori and Heather I live in IL and grew up in MN on the WI border. I always meet my sisters in Madison as it is half way and just went there last month. I went to the WalMart near our hotel and couldn't believe it had a parking garage and escalator! How weird.

BTW, the new Target near Hilldale Mall, out University Ave, also has underground parking. Don't know if it's as spooky as Walmart's as I've not been out to that one yet.
The parking garage was spooky! I thought I was going to get mugged because it was at night!

Thanks for the welcome! The thing about my TBR pile growing isn't necessarily good at this point. Since I just graduated from nursing school in May, I am trying to get my TBR pile down to about 75 books (I was at 170 at the beginning of the summer and I've reduced it to 141) so I can buy a Kindle. I feel guilty buying one right now because I have plenty of reading material!

I have read all of Cleo Coyle's coffeehouse mysteries along with her haunted bookshop mysteries under the pen name Alice Kimberly. I also enjoy reading the Laura Childs tea and scrapbook mystery series and Charlaine Harris mysteries featuring Roe Teagarden. I also love the Stephanie Plum series. I am excited to learn about more authors and discuss what I've read or will read!! Gives me a reason to buy more books :]

Hi, my name's April. I just joined this group but I've been on Goodreads since April (the month obviously lol). I love to read and I pretty much walk around with a book in my hand and read a page or two at a time when my two year old son allows it.
