Hehe...you've discovered our secret: getting everyone who dares enter our realm completely addicted to books, especially mysteries/cozies. Good to know our evil plans have been successful. : D

message 902: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments The problem is I am running out of room to keep my books. I resisted an e-reader but have now given my daughter a web page to give to my husbnad to solve this problem.

Beth | 616 comments Welcome to Nancy and Ellie!

message 904: by Sherry (new)

Sherry | 137 comments Welcome, Karen! I will offer my standard warning to all new members: Your To-Be-Read stack is about to get out of hand. But, I can just about guarantee you'll enjoy having it happen.

I was raised in Southwestern lower Michigan, and now live just across the border in South Bend, Indiana, so we already have something in common in addition to our enjoyment of cozies.

Sue (suetinge) | 622 comments Welcome Karen!

message 906: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Hi Karen-they're right: my to-be-read pile has become totally outrageous since I've joined this site & I've never been happier to say that! :D

message 907: by Cinette (new)

Cinette Santangelo | 6 comments Hello Everyone,
I'm Cinette and I'm a paranormal mysteries junkie. Madelyn Alt, Victoria Laurie, Juliet Blackwell, Casey Daniels and Wendy Roberts are a few of my favorite cozy authors.
I'm from The Great (and still) White North, a.k.a. Southern Alberta, Canada.

Sue (suetinge) | 622 comments Hi Cinette and welcome!

message 909: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Hi y'all. My name is Karen but I go by Karendenice on here because soooo many people have my wonderful name. lol I've been on GR's for almost a year now and I can't seem to get enough of it. I'm retired on disability so I am able to feed my passion for books a lot. I mostly get them at the library, library sale, friends and sometimes e-book. My to-read list is also out of hand. And Ellie is mostly responsible! I do love cozies. I'm ashamed to say that I haven't yet read any of Agatha Christie's books. But (don't yell at me) I'm checking her out at the library this week.

message 910: by Sherry (new)

Sherry | 137 comments Karendenice, don't feel bad that you haven't read any Agatha Christie. I recently read my first Dorothy Sayers. I wasn't crazy about it, but will try one more of her books, to see if she 'grows' on me, or if her books get better. If not, I'm done, I don't care how great "they" say she is. "They" have an opinion about everything, but that doesn't mean "they" are always right.

message 911: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Thanks Sherry. I do know of a few authors that I have read that are considered cozies. Charlaine Harris and Monica Ferris.

Which Charlaine Harris series do you read? I'm a huge fan of the Sookie Stackhouse books and have been since I stumbled across the first one in 2001!

message 913: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice The Sookie series. I have a few of her other series but I haven't read them yet.

Sue (suetinge) | 622 comments Welcome Karendenice!

message 915: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Thank you, Sue T. I know that I'm going to like it here. I looked at the cozy web-site that someone put up here and it's great!

message 916: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Hi Karendenice-good to see you here? :D

message 917: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice You too, Ellie. Have you looked at the web-site they listed here for cozies? It's great.

message 918: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) Yeah-I told you: this is a terrific group! So glad you're here. I didn't even know you liked cozies!

message 919: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice I do, Ellie. I just have been so caught up in trying to read books from other groups and books reccommended to me and everything else that I've kinda, sorta pushed them to the back. I do own some. I dragged some out last night and intend to check out some at the library tomorrow. The good thing about cozies is that they aren't heavy. lol

message 920: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) I like the size of cozies-perfect to carry around. And the covers are usually cute as well.

message 921: by Crystal (new)

Crystal | 1 comments Hello, I am new here so here I am introducing myself -im Crystal :)
I like to read a variety of books but prefer mostly fiction (as my real life gives me enough non-fiction).
Happy reading :)

Liz | 42 comments Crystal - I know just what you mean about real life. LOL! Welcome to the board!

message 925: by Danielle (new)

Danielle | 1 comments Hi! I'm Danielle from New Jersey. I am pretty new to GR, and am enjoying the site and groups for book recommendations and discussions. I've always read mysteries and I really enjoy a series. I love Kinsey Milhone, Sookie Stackhouse, Goldy Schulz, etc. I just found Stephanie Plum and am truly enjoying the first book in the series.

message 926: by Jack (new)

Jack M. (jacktweeter1) | 2 comments Hi. I am Jack from Atlanta. I am just looking around GR to find any good books. I like reading historical novels, but I want to expand my horizons and start reading mysteries.

I am reading "A Well-Manicured Murder" by Georgia Adams. I know -- a guy reading that?! But I like that it is set in my hometown and goes all around the city. It is like an English person reading a novel set in England. The English have many novels to choose from, but there aren't as many novels set in Atlanta.

message 934: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice I think someone mentioned something about the book called Sleeping With Anemone: by Kate Collins. I just checked it out of the library. I don't know who mentioned it but has anyone read it? Was it good?

message 935: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments Karendenice, I have read all of Kate Collins books and Loved them all.

message 936: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Nancy, I haven't had a chance to sit down and look at all of her books so I don't know what number this one is or if it even is a series. It just sounded great when I picked it up from the library sales shelves. I'm looking forward to getting into it asap. Thanks for letting me know about it. It just makes me that much more excited. :)

Love this series! Just finished the newest in the series earlier this week!

message 938: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Are there a lot of books in this series?

message 939: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments I think the one I just finished, Night of the Living Dandelion (A Flower Shop Mystery, #11) by Kate Collins , is the 10th or 11th.

message 940: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice Do you think that I should try and start with the first in the series? Or is it okay to read them out of order?

message 941: by Lizz (new)

Lizz (literarylizz) | 34 comments Start with the first in the series. It reads like a soap opera. :)

message 942: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) | 5280 comments Karendenice wrote: "Do you think that I should try and start with the first in the series? Or is it okay to read them out of order?"

I'm not anal about reading in order, so I'd say start reading wherever you want and if you want to go back you can.

message 943: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Bradford (nlb1050) | 77 comments I have read out of order and really had no problem. I usually end up doing that with series.

Welcome newbies! :)

Karendenice: There are about a dozen books in the Kate Collins Flower Shop series and it is a popular series with this group. As Lizz said, they read like a soap opera, so would suggest reading the series in order if you can--though we all know some people (Melodie, lol!) aren't as "anal" about reading series in order as some of us. *g*

message 945: by Karendenice (new)

Karendenice I think that I'm pretty anal. So I guess I'll have to find number 1 first. But the good thing is that I got this at a library sale so I can keep it til I get the first ones read. I'm happy to hear that she's a good author. Thanks.

message 946: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Wow! I've been slacking off on greeting newcomers! But I do have an excuse - I'm the Hotel Liaison for Malice Domestic (which is this coming weekend) so I've been busy with last minute arrangements to ensure everything with the hotel goes smoothly for the convention. [Shameless plug - And, if you ever get the chance, Malice is the greatest convention for cozy mystery fans! Lots of your favorite authors are attending!] Okay -
Welcome Nancy, Ellie, Karen, Cinette, Karendenice, Crystal, Danielle, Jack, Shannon and Cynthia! If you love cozies, this is the best place to find new reading ideas and tons of folks to discuss books with you. : ) I hope you have a great time reading and chatting here.

message 947: by Sue (new)

Sue (suetinge) | 622 comments Welcome Cynthia and Shannon!

Cyn209 thanx for the welcome, Caroline & SueT!!!!
