Thanks for the recommendation of The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher. I just requested it from the library. I just re-read The Moonstone about 5 months ago, so I remember hearing how this crime inspired Collins.

Welcome, Jeri, Deborah, Karen, Parishreader, Christine, Monique, Dinky, 4cats, and Lindy! Phew!
You're all going to find lots of ideas of books to read here, and a warm and welcoming community of fellow readers.

I find that I am more of a cozy fan, as the crime scene stuff tends to be a bit graphic for me.
I have read a lot of Christie, but I am learning that I am not the only one frustrated with the "unknowable" facts of the cases.

Welcome, Julia and all who I have missed before! I'm sure you'll find here a nice place and a growing list of books ;)

Carol,
Your book club made a good choice in Carolyn Hart, one of the queens of the cozy mystery field.
Liz,
I'm so glad you enjoy Maggie Sefton's books. She's a good friend and fellow Colorado author and was kind enough to give me a blurb for my first book.
You're all going to find a welcoming community here, with lots of reading suggestions!

I use www.dailycheapreads.com too! And they just opened sites for UK specific AND YA specific. Good stuff.

Currently I am thinking about reading "Winter's Bone" http://bit.ly/g6sS5S - saw the movie and enjoyed it

Thanks for the new authors... I am currently reading The Sculptor by Gregory Funaro. Excellent book and is keeping me on the edge of my seat. Can't put it down and have missed my train stop a few times because of it =)

I'm Kristi, a cozy lover living along the front range of Colorado. I got sucked into cozies via Diane Mott Davidson's books and the rest is history. I've read and enjoyed her books, as well as Nancy Atherton, Cleo Coyle, Susan Wittig Albert, Laura Child's tea series, Lorna Barret, Barbara Bretton, Cricket McRae and many others. I usually read series in order and I try really hard to not read the next book immediately following. I find breaking up a series allows me to better enjoy the books because I'm less likely to notice an author's patterns.
I am currently reading the first Agatha Raisin book, thanks to Antiquity on BookLending.com. Work is quite busy right now though so I'm reading at a snails pace of about a chapter a day.

Kristi,
I, too, live along the front range of Colorado and share some favorite authors with you. I'd love to be your friend here on Goodreads, but I don't know your pet's name. ;-) If you'd rather meet in person first, please come to one of my signings for Deadly Currents that I'm having in Colorado: http://bethgroundwater.com/Appearance... . I'd love to chat with you!

My name is Brenda and I'm anxious to start reading some "Cozy Mysteries". Just finished a mystery that was definitely not "cozy".
Good reads to everyone!

Aloha Brenda!
Happy Readings =)

Another Spenser fan here! Those books got me back into reading mysteries nearly 30 years ago!

Also on the front range in the Denver metro area! Welcome!

The Spencer series was the first series books that I have ever read. Going to miss the story line when the last of his publications comes out. He was an amazing writer...

My name is Nick and I am new to this web site, and love it! I am a technical writer by profession and love to write mysteries. I have recently put two of my novels (listed on my profile page)on Amazon Kindle, so we will see what happens.
I live in Scottsdale, AZ. My profile picture is of my first dog (my heart) who is no longer with me, but I do have another little boy now. In addition to writing I love cooking, gardening (not in the Summer), reading, and visiting interesting places.
Thanks again for having me in the group and I'm looking forward to some interesting reading and discussions!

I don't know..kind of like my piles of books, and I like supporting my local bookstores. lol. Hi, I'm Elizabeth, and I joined goodreads in January. I'm a forensics student, who loves historical mysteries, cozies and forensic/police procedurals.

yeah, I thought I'd miss them. And don't get me wrong, I still have *lots* of books. But I did clear out the three stacks in the dining room and it's actually been nice. We could *eat* in there now without having to move a bunch of books!

Monique - I'm in the same boat. I've only been on the site for a couple of days and am not sure how everything works yet either. We're in it together ;-)
