Rachel Anne (racheldespins) Hi my name is Rachel Anne. I'm from Delaware and I love to read!

message 604: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 113 comments Welcome Rachael Ann...what book are you reading and what kind of books do you like to read...

Happy Reading

message 605: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments I too am a M C Beaton fan. Rachael you are about to find loads of new books here, I think in the past couple of months I have added about 200 new authors to my "want to read list". When I am not reading cozy mysteries I like historical mysteries and any other book that looks interesting. Right now am reading "Lies that bind us", "Heartstone", "Earth Children Series" and a Tami Hoag book. Any place that I sit there is a book to be read including the car just in case I get stuck somewhere and just need a book. Have a good time finding new books.

Wow...I love Historical Mysteries, and also the Earth Children Series too....I am also a M.C. Beaton Fan as well.

You sound like me because I have books in my living room, books in my bedroom, and I take a book with me whenever I have to go someplace.

What Kind of Books does Tami Hoag Write?

Happy Reading

Linda

Caroline | 661 comments Welcome Rachael Ann! I think you'll enjoy this group. We're a pretty lively bunch. : )

message 608: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments I am not sure what catagory Tami Hoag belongs in but she is definitely not a cozy writer. I usually pick them up and read the cover to get an idea of story and go from there. She is my car book as I can pick her up and put her down as needed. Other books I just have to read and can't put them down until I am finished.

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 113 comments Dian

Oh okay....thanks for letting me know...What Earth Children Series are you reading?

message 610: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments Jean Auel's series I am presently in the middle of The Mammoth Hunters, two more to go and I will be ready for her new one which comes out in Mar. I also took notes on this site and now have about 20 new cozies for these cold, snowy nights when they are the only reading allowed :)

message 611: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 113 comments Dian

Do you know what the Title of her new one is? (Jean Auel) I tried to find it online and I couldn't find it...probably because it hasn't been released yet since it won't be out until March. I love her series and I got the whole set....

I think I have all of hers read but I'm not sure. I may have to re-read them again. :)

message 612: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments It's "The Land of Painted Caves" due out Mar. 29th. I am liking the other books in this series but do have to read other things at same time as I need to get away from all the hunting and gathering :)

Thanks for letting me know this...hey...can we be friends since you and I like to read the same type of books....can you send a friend request to me....or I can send one to you...it doesn't make any difference to me.

message 614: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments Go ahead and send a request to me it would be fun to share thoughts on books we are reading.

message 617: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (gravy) Hello everyone! I'm Kimberly from California. I'm new to Cozy Mysteries in general. Two friends sent me Nancy Martin's Blackbird Sisters series to read after I expressed interest in something new to read that wasn't a paranormal. I'm glad they did because it was just what I was looking for!
I've been browsing through some of the sections here, so I have some new authors and series to look out for! :)

message 622: by Catherine (new)

Catherine (catjackson) Hi everyone! I ran across GR yesterday and joined this group today. I've been reading mysteries since I picked up my first Nancy Drew books and haven't stopped since. But I sometimes run out of new authors (or new to me authors) to try, so I hope to find some new books to read here. I teach at a local college and am getting another degree in my spare time, so my reading time has been cut back lately, but I fit in all I can.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Welcome Catherine! No shortage of authors suggestions and book suggestions here - it's a great group and my reading selections have expanded exponentially since I joined. :)

Catherine (catjackson) Thanks for the welcomes! I may be in trouble by joining bc I've already found tons of titles and authors I want to read Although my optometrist may be very happy.

we live in WA state -- about 40 miles north of seattle. it's been snowing off and on for the last two days now -- fortunately the snow has been light in our area.

message 628: by Dolly (new)

Dolly (dollymart) | 24 comments Hello all and Happy New Year! I just found this group today. I adore cozy mysteries and despite my resolve to read more "serious" books, I find myself reaching for cozy mysteries more often than not. Between work and kids, I'm usually quite tired at night and want something cozy and comforting and not too taxing on the brain.

message 629: by Beth (new)

Beth | 616 comments Welcome to the group, Linda, RachelAnne, Kimberly, Catherine and Dolly! I'm a fan of Nancy Martin & Jean Auel, too. Though, I may have to re-read Jean Auel's books before I pick up her new one. I read them so many years ago that I barely remember them and they aren't even on my Goodreads list!

I've been visiting my family in Virginia for the holidays, got back home in Colorado Springs last night. For those who are interested in my temple photo safari to Cambodia & Myanmar, I've scheduled posts with photos to appear on my blog (bethgroundwater.blogspot.com) Monday & Tuesday.

message 631: by Eileen (new)

Eileen | 14 comments Happy New Year everyone! I just found this group today and had to join. I love mysteries, especially cozies. I've even gotten my daughter hooked on them so we can talk about them as we read them (we both have Kindles and share an account so we can read the same book at the same time--love that!). I look forward to finding some new authors. My name is Eileen and we split our time between NC and MD.

message 632: by Lori (new)

Lori | 10 comments Hi,

My name is Lori, and I love cozy mysteries. I'm really big on cats, having started with "The Cat Who..." series and have since moved on to the Mrs. Murphy's and just started the Midnight Louie's. But I'm always on the lookout of new series, with cats/animals, bookstore/libraries, archaeology, history, and craftng. I live in Southern California, a place that doesn't seem too popular with the cozys (that I've read/seen).

message 633: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Hello, Lauren! And (dare I say it? LOL) Hello, Dolly! (It's so nice to have you back where you belong) Okay. I'm sorry. I couldn't resist! Glad to have you here. And no matter what you read - reading is good. I think books are like food. Sometimes you want a full course meal and sometimes you just want dessert. There's something for everyone. Hope you enjoy this group.

message 641: by Amy (last edited Jan 12, 2011 10:12PM) (new)

Amy Hi everyone, my name is Amy. I've been reading cozy mysteries since childhood. I started with Nancy Drew, of course, and then graduated to Agatha Christie. I have reacquainted myself with Agatha Christie in recent years, having had to take a break from recreational reading while in college. I'm glad to be back to cozy mysteries, and have found several other cozy mystery books that I've enjoyed. I recently discovered P.D. James' Adam Dalgliesh series, I just finished A Blunt Instrument by Georgette Heyer, and over the summer I read Death in the Andamans by M.M. Kaye. I am looking forward to this group, and I've just started Death on Demand.

Beth | 616 comments Welcome to the group, Lori, Amy, Carol and Kristin! Lori, what's the topic of your blog? Amy, I, too, started with reading Nancy Drew and Agatha Christie, and now I'm writing them. And I predict you're going to love the Death on Demand series. Carol, I'm a mountain girl, too, but I'm in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. And Kristin, what kinds of thrills are you looking for in your mysteries? If it's outdoor sports, you might want to check out my books, especially my upcoming whitewater rafting mystery.

message 648: by Judy (new)

Judy (julianka) | 38 comments Hi, I'm Judy and I just signed up with Goodreads a few days ago. I guess I figured out that I love cozies when I got into Emily Brightwell's Mrs. Jeffries books. I got a Nook last fall and looked up some Mrs. Jeffries books on Barnes and Noble's web site and started clicking "More Books Like This." That's when I discovered the boatload of themed cozies in the world! I love cozies because they're, well, cozy. Though oddly enough I like true crime books too. And I've never read Agatha Christie! I know, that's awful for someone who calls herself a cozy fan. But I will remedy this soon. I'm going to try some of the reading challenges here too.

- Judy (from Pennsylvania)
