message 553: by Brenda (new)

Brenda (bscott11000) Hi, my name is Brenda. I'm pretty new to Goodreads and new to cozy mysteries as well. I started with Elizabeth Peters and found that I really liked them. I've already got a new cozy selected for my next read. But I can’t start it until I finish the 2 huge books I'm reading now.
I do most of my reading on my Kindle so I've already picked up the Agatha Christie book. I look forward to reading it with all of you.

Caroline | 661 comments Hi Kimmie, Dee, Robin, Rashaan and Brenda! Glad to have you with us. There are so many great series to read in this genre - you'll probably end up like most of us - with a TBR pile (To Be Read) that threatens to take over the house! LOL Hope you enjoy the recommendations.

message 562: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments Thanks, Caroline and everyone else for making me feel welcome. I am currently reading some other genre, but I will be returning to cozies and other mysteries. It has been a blur with all the reading that I am doing, since coming onto Goodreads.

Jill | 7 comments Hi,I'm Jill and I'm from Canberra, Australia. I've just joined Goodreads and love cosy mysteries. That's why I wrote one. I love Agatha Christie, of course, and Robert Goddard to name a couple.

Thanks, Heidi, Sue T, and Jennifer for welcoming me. I'm looking forward to discussions. Heidi, have you heard of Kerry Greenwood mystery series set in Victoria in the 1920? Sue, that's one of the reason I joined, to find new mystery authors. Jennifer, you're not too far away at all!

Jill | 7 comments Robin wrote: "Yes, I am from Hawaii. On the island of Oahu."

Hi Robin, I've been to Oahu a few times on my way to Canada and back. In fact, my husband and I were looking at a travel brochure yesterday, determining whether to have a holiday there. It's very beautiful.

message 574: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments Thank you, Jill. Hawaii is a very tropical place, and we are in our rainy season now. Canada is a nice place as well. All the different islands have something to offer, we personally like the Big Island of Hawaii, they have a volcano there that is erupting, we went before school started again this year for four days and we had a blast!

(That was a long time ago. lol) Anyhoo, I am a Agatha Christie devotee and for the longest time...shunned other writers, but as you get older you get wiser right? hee well, I look forward to reading new authors and rereading faves!

Take Care!

message 579: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Hi Karina and Rosemary - welcome to our chat group. I'm sure your TBR pile will be growing as you hang out with us.

Robin and Jill - I've been to Niagra Falls in Canada and that was beautiful but Australia and Hawaii are two places I've never been yet. Hopefully I'll be able to do some traveling now that I retired and I'd like to visit both as well as take a train trip through the Canadian Rockies. Of course, I'll always have lots of books to take with me so I'll always have something to read. LOL

Hope you all enjoy our group!

Caroline | 661 comments Hi Brian! I'll have to check out your books. Hi Dian! I'm actually jealous! I want snow. (My friends took me to Wisp for my birthday one year - January - and it was beautiful country) Hope you have a great time hearing about all the books we read.

message 587: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments It is beautiful but like all things too much of a good thing gets to be too much...last year we had 22 ft. of snow and we are now starting where we left off with another 18-24 in. Good reading weather and since my TBR list has grown I will be tucked in reading and knitting.

message 588: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments Dian, I live in Kailua, where you used to live, have lived here all my life, with travelling to California, Texas, Seattle,,etc. Have seen snow from the airports in Denver, Salt Lake, Utah, Have been in snow at Hurricane Ridge in Seattle, that was fun.

message 589: by Dian (new)

Dian Macnichol | 28 comments I lived on Palapu Rd in Kailua. Two of my daughters went to Kalahoe High School. We lived there from 1981 thru 1985. It is still snowing here, we have about a foot and is not suppose to stop until sometime Wed. night. What a difference :) I am doing more serious reading now but still keep a couple of cozies near.

message 590: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) | 630 comments Small world, my daughter will be attending Kalaheo next year. I think you like the snow. It is nice to look at once you are inside, in front of a cozy fireplace. Nice to have you on our site.

message 594: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 113 comments Hi

I joined GoodReads a few days ago and I love to read Mystery Stories. Some of my favorite authors are: Martha Grimes, M.C. Beaton, Rett MacPherson, Joanne Fluke, Cleo Coyle and there are a whole lot more too.

My name is Linda and is it okay to continue reading what I'm reading. Right now I'm reading a Fantasy Novel - I started it long time ago and I never finished it so now I'm going to finish it. I'm on Chapter 11 out of 17 chapers.

I live in Cold Northern Indiana.

I have been a reader since Kindergarten and I've read all of my life. Where I live at we have a huge Library and than in the Bigger City we have the huge huge huge Library which I'm planning on going to this summer. We also have a Used Book Store too and it is two floors from ceiling to the floors filled with books and they have every bood/magazine/newspaper/children's books that you can ever imagine. What is so nice is that if you buy a book and if they buy yours from you than you can trade for cash or for more books and they will not charge you for the book that you buy as long as they buy yours from you.

In the winter time it is hard for me to get to the Library so I read what I have on my three bookcases and than from Spring to December I read the books from the Libraries.

Thank you for letting me join this group. I sure love my Mysteries.

message 595: by Heidi (new)

Heidi | 2446 comments Welcome Linda! I like MC Beaton as well and I am your neighbor to the west (Illinois:)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 113 comments Hi Heidi

Thank you so much for welcoming me....Have you read M.C. Beaton's latest Novel - Busy Body yet? I am anxious to start reading that. My Library only has the Electronic version of this for the time being.

I would like to be friends with you if that is okay....here on GoodReads.

Take care Heidi & Happy Reading

Linda I am only on book 11 of Agatha Raisin (I started them a few months ago). I actually listen to them on audiobook and love that format for the series. Have you read any of the authors books under her real name Marion Chesney? In the 90's I read all of her regency romance novels and last year I read her regency mystery. Loved them. p.s. Sure we can be friends!

Can you send a request friend to me...

Thanks Heidi....

message 599: by Caroline (new)

Caroline | 661 comments Hi Linda! Welcome to the group. And Welcome to Jeannie too. I've been reading since I was four and I like Rett MacPherson and Cleo Coyle as well (plus a couple hundred more). Hope you have enough books to get you through any snow storms! I know when everyone else rushes to the store to buy bread, milk and toilet paper, I usually rush to Barnes and Noble or Borders so I won't be stranded without plenty to read! LOL

Welcome back, Beth! hope you enjoyed the trip and got lots of great pics!

message 600: by Linda (new)

Linda Klinedinst (linda_klinedinst) | 113 comments Hi Caroline

Thanks for the welcome....Oh don't worry...I have enough books to read on my bookcases to last me for a life time. I order my books online through Amazon.com. I don't drive in the big city to go to Barnes n Nobles or Borders. I get to Barnes n Nobles about once a year during the summer time. I go with my friend and we both go to Barnes n Nobles. She loves to read as well as her daughter. We trade Books too.
