While living in a boarding house, a mentally ill man with a tenuous grip on reality begins to have flashbacks to a horrible childhood memory that may or may not be true.
Agreed, that's a good one :)An underground group pursues the secret of the afterlife through an unrelenting pattern of sadism imposed on their unfortunate victims.

Sorry, it's not that one.The English title is one word in plural form. There is an older lady in a turban that figures importantly.
I am pretty sure I am right so I will have the audacity to give a plot.Four couples go to a secluded island for business and pleasure. The houseboy is found murdered the suspect list decreases as the body count increases.

Don't think I've seen this one, maybe a hint?
Only one more hint It is Italian
The director took over in the middle but I think he is credited with this movie
I need to catch more Italian horror, especially the Fulci(?) Stuff. Not even the comic relief is safe on a haunted Louisiana swamp tour. Slaughtered terribly one by one.
Wow haven't thought about that one in a long while.I think we have done this one before but what the hell...
A couple keeps seeing glimpses of a young girl who they think is their deceased daughter.
You got It RandyThe movie did get a little annoying with flashbacks and jump forwards.
What bothered you about it?
It still has images that stay in my mind.
A good story by du Maurier
It's been years since I've seen it (I saw it in a movie theater!), but I just didn't like the pacing. And I got bored with the various chase scenes. They were too much alike. And I remember feeling the ending was a big cop out.Do I remember correctly that there was a controversial sex scene between Sutherland and Christie?
But, yes, I still have images burned into my brain as well. :(
I also was extremely disappointed with another horror film at that time -- The Exorcist. I wasn't old enough to see it when it came out, but saw it at a retro theater a few years later when I was in college. I was SO disappointed. I was practically in tears because I was laughing so hard that other people in the theater were scared by the terrible effects I saw on the screen.
I think I have to disagree with you on "The Exorcist" I saw it when it first came out and it scared me then, I was around 16 and it was the most incredible film of its time. But now a days yes the effects do seem to be somewhat dated, but so are alot of the films that we grew up with and loved. For me and still is, the idea of what The Exorcist stands for and represented. The embodiment of demonic evil. It still is something I have a hard time watching to this day alone and yes it still does hold scares for me. Its not about the effects, its what the whole thing is. But you know what they say, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
I read The Exorcist when it first hit the shelves and saw the movie in its first run. I give them both the highest rating. IMO Friedkin did a fantastic job with the movie the pacing was wonderful. That is what I admired most about the film from happy go lucky innocence to the tension in the final scenes. As the technology of special F/X advances, the older movies do get dated. However that does not stop movies like Frankenstien, The Wolfman, Dracula (Lugosi turning into a cartoon bat) and The Exorcist from being classics. I personally love to watch them over and over.
OK...a double-feature, but they might be too easy:#1: The caretaker of a graveyard and his odd sidekick try to stem the rising of the dead from their graves, afraid that they might lose their jobs if the authorities find out that the dead are rising...
#2: After a horrific motorcycle crash, an injured woman receives experimental surgery that saves her life, but side effects leave her thirsty for blood...
RecluseYou just jumped into my grave to turn a phrase.
I was waiting for an answer from Randy.
But I bear you no ill will (says with fingers crossed)
Five more difficult ones -- these are very weird movies:#3: A sleazy TV executive is looking for cheap, exciting programming for his fly-by-night channel when he stumbles across a fuzzy satellite feed showing torture, punishment ... and possibly murder.
#4: A mysterious drifter wanders into a small-town police station on Christmas Eve and confesses to a series of murders, none of which have actually occurred -- yet. Then the police officers start dying in just the ways described.
#5: Five strangers awake in an underground dungeon and discover that they've been kidnapped as part of a terrible experiment. A sadistic scientist wants to answer a simple question: What are they willing to do to survive after weeks without food?
#6: Slaying strangers in a lonesome country diner becomes hazardous duty for a roving serial killer after his first victims come back to life as zombies who are eager to make a meal of him and his next intended targets.
#7: On the eve a woman is about to give birth, just four months after her husband's tragic death, a crazed woman arrives at her home intent on taking the baby. By any means necessary.
Sorry Randy, I know I IM'd you to put a plot on the board since you correctly guessed the last one, and we were all very anxious to play. It takes a while to get the gist of the board. The last one to correctly guess, posts one plot and so on... Save those awesome plots (2-7) for later, I think Recluse is up? Recluse.....

Michael would have gotten it eventually.
It's his turn.

The turn is yours, Michael.
I stepped on your toes.
And I am not that well versed in movies.
The last movie I saw in an actual theater was the original "HALLOWEEN" opening weekend.
