Hmm, I'm curious about that series. I'm honestly tempted to read it just because I like the covers ... >.<

That's funny because I shy away from books with this type of cover because they are normally YA paranormal!

Some YA paranormal is just horrid. It is either amazing or horrible and I don't know why there seems to be no middle ground!

Yup. It seems to be the case which is why I am so hesitant.

I don't usually like paranormal romance books either, and yet I'm still drawn to books with pretty dresses on the cover ... It's a bad combination. :P

I am reading
. I'm not a sex and the city fan but I started watching THIS show on the CW and liked it so I thought I'd try this!

I thought that one was ok. I am from the 80's so I appreciated all the 80's references.

Eek that's a lot of pressure...I'm only 7% in and it's a slow start, but I like Finnikin a lot, so that's a good thing!
Just kidding David! I welcome any opinion or thoughts you might have on it. I was already in love with Melina when I read that one so it would be weird for me to read Finnikin first. Hope my earlier love of her didn't sway me because if you didn't already hear I am the eternal optimist!

I thought it picked up a bit more after they met the thief.

Yes! That's exactly what happened! I'm totally into it now and had to pull myself away from it last night to sleep ;)
I peeked back into
and found myself too drawn back into that world. Kinda left
just sitting in limbo at the moment (very apropos, considering what's happening). Fantasy is hit and miss for me (more miss than hits) but so far Patrick Rothfuss is doing it right. Not the fastest paced books around, but I find Kvothe and his world compelling. Great stuff! Though not YA - sorry to stray off the path -- but I'm still banished in the Naughty Corner (thanks a LOT David!) so I can't really do much more harm, eh? :)

Heh. Actually, it's been pretty comfy corner thus far! I'd actually like more time in it - it's the only chance I get to read!
Maybe I got banished to the corner too because the last 24 hours I have gotten 70 pages further in two books. Read/Finished the last 100 pages in another book. And Read three more books. I would finish another book right now but I have to get ready because someone is giving me 20 bucks to spend at a bookstore but I have to go with this group to get it so. *angryface* I have to get dressed and leave

Lol ouch...something tells me banishment is worse than the naughty corner (which, as it turns out, is actually quite a fun place)
Wow, banishment!! Hahahha... Yes sir, Ms. Optimist; I will get my copy and start reading by next week. Got to be able to get back in this group as quickly as possible. :-P
ohhh. that contest. I gave up trying to take part. I have read hunger games 1 &2 and Harry Potter 1-3 so I was so confused I left the thread never to return XD
Out of the ones I've read, Chaos Walking, Peter Pan, The Chocolate War Duology, Watership Down, Ender's Game, Bone, 20th Century Boys, Lord of the Flies, and The House of the Scorpion.
I loved Ender's Game and Alanna the Lioness (in fact that whole series is pretty fantastic), and Chaos Walking looks really interesting even though I haven't read it yet. Did you read Fire, the companion to Graceling?
Cassie wrote: "What's the best one in the contest that you have read?"
For me: The Skinjacker Trilogy, Chaos Walking, Graceling, Rot & Ruin, Finnikin of the Rock, Moon Dwellers, A Series of Unfortunate Events, City of Bones, The Diviners, UnWholly (and the first book, Unwind), Cinder, House of the Scorpion, The Summoning, and Watership Down. :)

Chaos Walking is super amazing! Pretty much everyone in this group is obsessed with it ... haha. I've read Fire and I really liked it––not quite as much as Graceling but I still thought it was great. A lot of people seem to have the opposite opinion as me, though; that is, it seems like more people liked Fire better. But either way, I thought it was good.

Yes, you must! And I agree, Cinder was awesome. I've heard the second book is great too and I can't wait to read it!
The Skinjacker Trilogy (which consists of Everlost, Everwild, and Everfound) is about the ghosts of children who live in this type of limbo dimension called Everlost; basically, they're still kind of a part of the regular world but no one can see them. It's kind of hard to explain ... but the world-building is fantastic and the characters are awesome. I thought the first book was good, but I'm more in love with the second and third books. There are a lot of different layers to the story and it gets more complex as it goes along; the author thought it out extremely well.

Oh! No way! I didn't know that was the name of the series. Haha no, I totally know those books and was pulling my hair out after Everwild while I waited for Everfound. And then I cried like three times during Everfound and wound up with that partly sad, mostly content feeling after reading the last book in a good series. Lol!
