That's funny because I shy away from books with this type of cover because they are normally YA paranormal!

message 4157: by Kaylani (new)

Kaylani (cityeclectics) | 277 comments Some YA paranormal is just horrid. It is either amazing or horrible and I don't know why there seems to be no middle ground!

I don't usually like paranormal romance books either, and yet I'm still drawn to books with pretty dresses on the cover ... It's a bad combination. :P

message 4172: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments I peeked back into The Wise Man's Fear (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #2) by Patrick Rothfuss and found myself too drawn back into that world. Kinda left A Million Suns (Across the Universe, #2) by Beth Revis just sitting in limbo at the moment (very apropos, considering what's happening).

Fantasy is hit and miss for me (more miss than hits) but so far Patrick Rothfuss is doing it right. Not the fastest paced books around, but I find Kvothe and his world compelling. Great stuff! Though not YA - sorry to stray off the path -- but I'm still banished in the Naughty Corner (thanks a LOT David!) so I can't really do much more harm, eh? :)

Chaos Walking is super amazing! Pretty much everyone in this group is obsessed with it ... haha. I've read Fire and I really liked it––not quite as much as Graceling but I still thought it was great. A lot of people seem to have the opposite opinion as me, though; that is, it seems like more people liked Fire better. But either way, I thought it was good.

Yes, you must! And I agree, Cinder was awesome. I've heard the second book is great too and I can't wait to read it!

The Skinjacker Trilogy (which consists of Everlost, Everwild, and Everfound) is about the ghosts of children who live in this type of limbo dimension called Everlost; basically, they're still kind of a part of the regular world but no one can see them. It's kind of hard to explain ... but the world-building is fantastic and the characters are awesome. I thought the first book was good, but I'm more in love with the second and third books. There are a lot of different layers to the story and it gets more complex as it goes along; the author thought it out extremely well.

message 4200: by Cassie (last edited Feb 16, 2013 03:36PM) (new)

Cassie (loved43v3r) | 12 comments Oh! No way! I didn't know that was the name of the series. Haha no, I totally know those books and was pulling my hair out after Everwild while I waited for Everfound. And then I cried like three times during Everfound and wound up with that partly sad, mostly content feeling after reading the last book in a good series. Lol!
