David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments Delirium was good and I'm reading Pandemonium which is just ok so far, but I hear it gets a lot better soon!

Yeahhh Pandemonium is a little ... confusing. Especially in the beginning. I liked it, though.

message 4003: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments Cool :) I'm sure I'll like it in the end

message 4004: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Not sure if anyone's interested, but I'm getting rid of a stack of books.

Before I go take them over to the book drop I figured I'd offer them in here and see if anyone would be interested in nabbing these used books. Here's what I'm getting rid of! :)

Pandemonium by Daryl Gregory - Paperback copy; brand new never been opened

The Radleys by Matt Haig - Hardcover; brand new

Underdogs (Wolfe Brothers, #1-3) by Markus Zusak - Hardcover; brand new

The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti - paperback; good condition (little scratch on the cover)

It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini - paperback; good condition.

Let me know! I'll mail them out. :)

Ooh could I have Underdogs? :D

message 4006: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Of course! I'd rather have people I know enjoy them then just drop them in a bin. (Which I will do with what's left, haha).

You can PM me your address?

Heidi | 6961 comments Mod
I really liked Underdogs even though you could tell it was his first books. You rock Wendy!

message 4008: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) Don't even worry, lol. Toronto actually isn't all that far away from me.

If you want it, just PM me.

Also, don't feel at all like you should take one cause I offered, lol. I'm getting rid of them regardless.

message 4009: by Gwennie (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) hahaha, it was pretty good actually. Really made me want to watch the movie.

message 4010: by Gwennie (last edited Jan 27, 2013 06:21PM) (new)

Gwennie (blessedwannab) That's why I did too. My husband watched it and said that it was good and it played all the time. So I got a copy of the book and read it, wanting to do that first, only now it's NEVER on tv, ha.

Rissa Lynn | 19 comments Im also reading a book called " Soul Enchilada" by David Maccinis Gill. The plot is kinda twisty but other than that it is a great book so far.

message 4016: by Lloyd (new)

Lloyd | 110 comments A bit off-topic, but if someone has time to spread the love (maybe Heidi?) -- today Amazon has The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness for $1.99!!!

Spread the love!

David I have been waiting for someone who had the sames thoughts on Daughter of Smoke and Bone that I did to say they loved the sequel before I decided to read it but so far that hasn't happened.

message 4026: by David (new)

David Estes (davidestesbooks) | 836 comments Lol! About the double insta love right? I wasn't a huge fan although I did like the backstory, the beginning, and the ending. It was the middle bits that bothered me. Either way, I'll let you know what I think of the sequel :)

message 4032: by Harold (new)

Harold Smithson | 87 comments Hey, guys, I have a question: Is it possible to create a private thread on Goodreads? Can I create a thread where only certain people can comment and/or see?

message 4033: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) I have another question (for those of you who post reviews) - if you decide you really don't want to continue reading a book (like, you've reached 30% and your limit), do you still post a review with the assumption that the remaining 70% is as equally boring / unreadable / not your thing?

message 4034: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I typically force myself to read the whole thing before doing the review. One was TORTURE, but since it was a First Reads book, I made myself finish it so that I could give an honest review. If I don't finish the book, I won't do a review. But that's just me.

message 4035: by Vered (new)

Vered (vered_ehsani) I used to force myself to finish every book I started, Becky, but now I'm thinking, "Too many great books out there, too little time to spend on blah books."

message 4036: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments Then I put them in "probably will never finish" shelf and don't do a review.

You can create private groups, but I don't think it's possible to make a private thread within a public group, if that's what you mean.

I usually just force myself through a book so that I feel more justified writing a review ... However, there are times when I really can't stand any more when I'm only like a fourth of the way through the book. In that case, I still post a review, but I make it clear that I'm only reviewing the part of the book that I read, and that I did not actually get to the end. But this doesn't happen all too often. The only example I can think of right now is my review for the ninth House of Night book; I gave up less than 25% of the way through the book I think, but I still posted a review ... Although it was kind of a review of the whole series and not just of the part of the ninth book that I read. :P

I have a did not finish folder for books I really didn't like. I do not force myself to finish books anymore. I'm 41 - time is too short! I will rate a unfinished book 1 star ONLY if I think it deserves it. If it is a book that I do no finish because it is too middle grade or "not for me" but I would recommend to someone else who may like it I just mark it as read without rating it and put a comment about why I stopped reading it in the review section.

Rolenda I NEED to get to UnWholly! I was holding out hope there would be an audiobook version like there was with Unwind but alas I checked again this week and still NO audiobook so I guess I will need to resort to the print copy!

I loved UnWholly! I don't think it was as amazing as Unwind, but it was still really good. There were a lot of interesting new characters, and on top of that we got to see how the characters from the first book had changed. So, that was cool. :)
