Betsy (betsyhalvorsen) Wither (The Chemical Garden, #1) by Lauren DeStefano by Lauren DeStefano
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs by Ransom Riggs
Fury (Fury, #1) by Elizabeth Miles by Elizabeth Miles
Alison Wonderland by Helen Smith by Helen Smith

All of them are pretty good but I really LOVE Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. It's such an original story and the photos that are throughout the book are really cool/creepy (and unaltered).

I definitely loved The Lost Hero immediately and flew threw it and struggled with The Red Pyramid and The Throne of Fire (I also preferred the second book). While I struggled with the Kane Chronicles series, I'm still glad I finished. It's good and I think the reason I found it harder to get into is because I know less about Egyptian mythology than Greek and Roman mythology.

message 1704: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) I finished Among the Free (Shadow Children, #7) by Margaret Peterson Haddix and have just started The Help by Kathryn Stockett !

message 1705: by Emily (new)

Emily (emilyblake) The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory . It's my first adult book that isn't a classic, and I really like it.

I'm currently reading:

Alone Together Why We Expect More from Technology and Less from Each Other by Sherry Turkle

I think I mentioned it earlier ... It's my summer reading. And it's non-fiction.
In the beginning it was pissing me off a bit, but now I find it more interesting. The author seems to think that teenagers want to have, like ... robot boyfriends. Which I'm pretty sure is not true. But, her ideas are thought-provoking at least.

Anna (Literary Exploration) (literaryanna) I'm reading the ebook of Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa and the hard copy of Wolfsbane by Andrea Creamer :)

Caylie (Team Jacob) | 21 comments I FINALLY finished Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast . That book took way too long to read.

I'm currently on Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1) by J.K. Rowling . After HoN, HP seems so innocent and clean despite the dark story tones.

For me, it was kind of bad. I don't like reading books that degrade other religious groups or slut-shame other girls for almost no apparent reason. Marked was one of the few books I gave one star to due to those ressons. This is the kind of book I didn't and wouldn't want my little sisters and brothers to read.

We are preparing our house to put it up for sale so I have been totally slacking on my reading. I'll give you an update on both later.

message 1732: by Thalia (new)

Thalia (thaliaanderson) Charmaine; I'm only two chapters in, but it's engaging me. Like always for me, I don't like that's it's written in present-tense and Gemma kind of seems like a brat, but I'm not turned off the book! Just waiting to get a little further in. (:

It was great! I rarely do 5 stars but that one got one from me, I'm a huge sucker for mythology though :) I'd definitely recommend it!

I didn't see it that way at all. Most of the books r from a female point of view and. Many. Either stick in a "damsel in distress " or. A love triangle which just bothers me

One of my favorite male POV books is The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness - I also loved The Piper's Son by Melina Marchetta (but I totally worship the author so I am biased).
