@Oda - Hey thanks for your recommendation! Hounded (The Iron Druid series) sounds interesting and I've been hearing good words on Stephanie Plum series for ages. There's no space to put books in my crampy place anymore!

@Jenny - Six of Crows it is, then. It would be a crime now if I ignored all the praises I've heard about this book!

@Ashley *Hufflepuff Kitten* - Regrettably I'm that person who isn't really a fan of audio books :( People keep recommending them to me, though. Guess I have to try again soon.

Siyapah please double check with us about any audio book you might try in the future! A narrator can make or break a book and sometimes people get a sub par narrator and then think they don't like audio books. I am huge audiophile as is Ashley so ask away for recommendations!

Loved it, of course! For some reason I'd never thought of this one as being a standout in the series, but when I was re-reading it I appreciated it a lot more––maybe because this time I saw how clever all the foreshadow is. :)

OMG Neal Shusterman's Unwind is definitely on my top 5 most favorite series of all time! He crafted the Unwind universe so well I feel terrified every time I'm reading it!

Working my way through the Jasper Dent trilogy, I finished book one yesterday and immediately pounced on the second one. The audio is really good, although if you're squeamish the book does get a bit gory-- and there was a small bit where (view spoiler)[his dad killed his dog and made him watch (hide spoiler)] which pissed me off bc animals, as we've discussed.

I still need to read the third and fourth ones! But I love the first two. Definitely one of the best dystopias I've ever read––I agree, it's so terrifying!

been meaning to pick it up for quite some time now, but just kept pushing it back. I'm feeling for some sci-fi this week.

First few chapters feels like I'm reading a lot of math problems. Like those problem solving things back in grade school. My brain is hurting. Makes me remember just how much I hate math. Booo... hope it gets better!

I thought they did a good job with the book-which meant that much of it was grueling to watch, and grim and sad. But it had to be a that way, I think, because that's how the book was. I remember reading that Suzanne Collins felt that the book expressed some of her views about what war is really like. I loved the ending of the book, the last part, and I thought they did a beautiful part with that. The first part was so intense; I think that's why I had put off watching it until I could handle it! What did you think? :)

I agree so much with what you said.....I love movies that follow the book, but Mockingjay part 1 was a book that showed me that following the book isn't necessarily the right thing to do. It was good, but it was slow and even boring at times.
Part 2, I felt, righted that wrong. It was action-packed and gripping, and I loved seeing the perspective of the capital that we didn't get in the books. And yes, that end scene was pure gold--especially with the music playing--sent shivers down my spine. :)

I've been reading one book after the other and I feel that I'm going through them too fast that I'll eventually burn out. So I'm taking a much needed break! hahaha...

Anyways, I just finished...

I'm actually surprised I like it. Considering there were too many scientific explanations, I'm surprised I didn't fall asleep in any of them. I love the humor in the book and all the characters are great!

My dad just finished The Martian and he really liked it, too (and he doesn't read very much, lol). I've heard kinda mixed things about it, but I want to at least give it a try!

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the Martian too! LOADS more science-speak than I can usually handle, but the humor was fantastic. If you do audiobooks Brigid, check that one out for sure!

I enjoyed the Martian. I was not in love with it as a lot of others because I am character driven and we didn't get a lot of back story on anyone but it was definitely worth a read in my opinion.

it was a fun quick read. Not to heavy considering the situation. I also just finished watching the movie and enjoyed that too. They actually stuck to the story line pretty well. They took some parts out, but they didn't really alter too many things, which is great.

Seriously I'm really not sure what about in this book that made me keep reading. I think its just the anticipation of what will happen next.

Thanks, Elora; I'm glad I was somewhat on-track with my impression. :) The movie leaves you with something, doesn't it. After going through everything with those characters, it was nice to have something you could hold as a good memory at the end.

Finally finished The Ask and the Answer. Still love this series and can't wait to start the next book, but did anyone else find the rapid viewpoint change toward the end annoying? It almost killed the end for me, though I loved the whole book so much I didn't let it drag my overall opinion down.

Finished the Jasper Dent trilogy and LOVED it. Such a f-ed up series but so brilliant at the same time.

Also finished the second Mercy Thompson book yesterday, really getting into this series now...

Started on audio this morning. All the fantasy names have me a bit hazy, but the story just picked up so I'm excited :)

Yay!! Hmm it's been a while since I read it so I'm not exactly sure what you mean––do you mean it switches POVs a lot towards the end? I don't really remember, but I don't think it bothered me so much. Normally I find that kind of thing annoying, but somehow it always worked for me with that series. I really need to re-read them though, my memory is a bit foggy!

It was a pretty fun read. It had some cool world-building and an interesting premise. Probably the biggest weakness for me was the insta-love, but I do give it props for at least having a gay main character/romance.

It just hit me how soon the last book is (FINALLY) coming out! And I really need to re-read the first three before then, because I feel like I've forgotten half of what happens, haha. I'm reading book 1 for the third time, but I still feel like there's all this interesting foreshadow I missed out on the first & second times I read it. :D
