I just find overall if people either love or hate a book I normally hate it. I always try to give things a fair shot though. Since I have so many books I want to read now I normally only read the ones at least 3 or more of my trusted GR friends liked. It must be working because I have rarely read anything I DNF or hate anymore :)

Okay, book update time!

Finished and gave it 3.5 stars. This series is just really okay for me, but I'm starting to get into it a bit more.

Finished and gave it 4 stars, bordering on 4.5. Heidi wanted to know my thoughts. Its really hard to describe...this book is very different and strange, but I was hooked to the story and actually parts of it got very deep. I didn't enjoy it as much as Winger, but I did like it a lot. Lots of "masturbation" humor in this though, be forewarned. Its mainly about a group of 14 year old boys at this very strange camp. But there's a lot more going on behind the scenes. I do recommend this, especially if you want something different.

Now reading , which I'm LOVING, ,which is meh so far, and ,good so far.

I finished earlier. I wasn't completely in love with it all the way through, but HOLY CRAP that ending was perfection.

Up next Not even 100% sure what it's about(assuming bad dreams play a part haha) but it's by Jason Segel, one of my favorite actors(along with co-author Kirsten Miller, so I figured it was worth a go :0)

I tend to lean towards fantasy, so here are my initial thoughts:





I had a couple of other ones that I considered but I saw that quite a few folks had already read them or they are in the middle of a series.

I have not read any of those Becky. I have read a few Shannon Hale books in the past and enjoyed them.

I've been wanting to read The Goose Girl for a long time! I'd be thrilled with that one. The others look good too!

Finished it wasn't a brilliant book, but solid all the way through and a very strong ending. I'll be checking out book 2 for sure.

YESSS THE MONSTRUMOLOGIST!!!!! I hope you enjoy that one! :D

I have been trying to catch up on all the NetGalley ARCs I've been neglecting. So, I have finished:



It was okay. I feel like it had potential, but the writing was a bit irritating––very repetitive. And it was written in dialect which is fine, but it wasn't done very well/consistently. Too bad, because I really like the title and the cover art is intriguing.

Also finished:



I liked it. I don't read a lot of mystery/thriller books, so it was refreshing. It has a lot of interesting plot twists. The first half of it or so was okay, and then it got more and more exciting by the end. But then it ended on a cliffhanger––which I wasn't expecting, because I thought it was a standalone. GAAHHH. But it was pretty cool.

Now I am reading:

I know I'm so excited about the Monstrumologist. Been on my to-read list for years and everyone raving about in all the groups I'm in on this site made me bump it to the front of the line.

I give Brigid all the credit for the Monstrumologist! I read it because of her reviews and then of course if I love something I have to tell pressure everyone on GR to read it too. Then of course David E. read it and loved it so everyone in his group it reading it. I love reading waves like that!! Especially for hidden gem books. That is why I get so upset sometimes about some of these best sellers out there that are just not that well written and/or unique like the Monstrumologist was :)

I am nearly done with Challenger Deep and still not sure how I feel about it. I am also still slowly but surely reading Ice Country on my kindle (blame the Kindle for the slow read not the book!)

Fell asleep on Ashfall last night with twenty pages to go, but I smuggled it into the bathroom at work this morning and finished it. If the first book had THIS much action, tension and adventure, I'd say this will wind up being a three-way tie for my favorite dystopia series alongside Hunger Games and Unwind. SO GOOD.

And now that that's finished, I'm starting Challenger Deep tonight!

I finished . I would not recommend reading it and I Hunt Killers series too close together. It would be impossible not to compare the two books.

I'm interested to hear what you think of it in the end, Heidi! I liked it, but I also was not in love with it ... I felt like it was one of those books where the subject matter kind of outweighed the characterization. That is, it felt like it was caught up in portraying an important subject but I didn't feel the characters were as fleshed out as they could have been. The whole surreal thing didn't quite work for me either. I don't know ... very mixed feelings. :P

Yeah, exactly. I love Neal Shusterman and it's cool that he tried something different, but it wasn't my favorite of his.

I'm only on page 24 and that's the feeling I'm already getting. Maybe it's because it's something completely opposite of the Unwind books, but it's definitely throwing me for a loop.

Since I last posted I've finished , , and

4 more books left in the Bone series, a fantasy both epic and hilarious

Locke and Key is... well kind of indescribable. Recommended for "mature" readers. So long as you feel you fall under than umbrella and are not opposed to reading comics, I highly recommend.

And Curse of the Wendigo was just amazing. I really, really like The Monstrumologist, but its sequel blew it out of the water, IMO.
