Ashley Marie I liked Snow Like Ashes (Snow Like Ashes, #1) by Sara Raasch better than I thought I would.

I also highly recommend Moloka'i by Alan Brennert if you want Hawaiian historical fiction. Beware the feels though.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell was good until the end. I HATED the ending.

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments I figure that I'll read the Raven Cycle books this year since the fourth book is due out. That and the Lumatere books. Maybe we can buddy read some of the Raven Cycle ones. I haven't even read the first one yet, so there's lots of time.

That sounds good Becky! I need to re-read the first one since it has been so long anyway.

Whoops, I meant the Lunar Chronicles. Though I could reread the Lumatere books and be happy either way.

I read it and loved it! The comparisons to gone girl I think is just because its a knotty mystery. But its not as full of horrible characters and doesn't leave you feeling like you took part in their horribleness' ha! Let me know what you think, I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Kara :)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments I finished The Body Electric by Beth Revis and although it was mainly an okay read, the ending was really good and made up for it!

Also finished Blue Lily, Lily Blue (The Raven Cycle, #3) by Maggie Stiefvater and LOVED it, love this series so much!!

Now reading Dove Arising (Dove Chronicles, #1) by Karen Bao , really looking forward to it!

Also going to start Killing Patton The Strange Death of World War II's Most Audacious General by Bill O'Reilly Several of the residents at the assisted living facility I work at are reading it right now and talking about it, so I thought it was time to finally read it!

I finished The Girl on the Train and loved it! Maybe the most suspenseful book I have ever read-a real page turner. I didn't have that "Gone Girl" feeling at the end; I was fine! I don't see the Gone Girl comparisons too much. Some people said they were depressed at the end. . . but I saw it coming and didn't feel that way. My husband liked it too. Maybe not for everyone, but if you really like plot twists and mystery, it is great. :)

Jenny that Dove Arising looks interesting so please let me know your thoughts!

My sister keeps telling me to read those Bill O'Reilly books but since I have issues with the author I can't bring myself to do it!

Kara (greathera77) | 30 comments Heidi, give girl on the train a try. Once you start it you will get sucked in. You can thank me later

I have my own issues with O'Reilly as well, but the book does sound interesting. I'll take the approach that just because I disagree with him on some things, doesn't mean I'll disagree on all things approach and consider checking it out.

Yeah they don't really interest me too much Tommy so that doesn't help. I normally get my historical content from shows on BBC, PBS, Smithsonian Channel, etc.. so I feel like I am covered. My husband generally only watch educational shows with me so I have watched my fill of historical shows in the last few years. I'm good!

Back to books - I am still listening to Game. I have about 4 hours left of the 13 hour audiobook and I really like it so far. I am nearly done with Croak as well. Lex is not endearing herself to me but it is a fun read so far.

Kara (greathera77) | 30 comments I just started Game (Jasper Dent, #2) by Barry Lyga its been a while since we read I hunt killers for a monthly read so I was a little worried I wouldn't remember where the story left off. But I'm right back into it and I think its even creepier than the 1st! ( thats a good thing in my opinion)

KARA: A bunch of people just did a buddy read on that book. People are also thinking of doing the last book for this month. I really enjoyed this more than I Hunt Killers. It was so creepy!

JENNY: Do you know if its a trilogy?

message 8380: by Ashley Marie (last edited Apr 03, 2015 04:31AM) (new)

Ashley Marie I ripped through book 5 of Locke & Key last night and immediately pounced on book 6. SO glad I got all of these from the library in one shot, I freaking love them!!

I'm also loving Billy Joel's biography, he's a genius and just so cool.

I also started The Looking Glass Wars the other day; I'm really excited for this one.

And I'm still plodding along reading Bloodhound -- in actuality I haven't touched it in a month because I've been so distracted by everything else, but I desperately want to finish it.

Nice, looking forward to reading it all :)

Have you read Y: The Last Man? It's a comic also and is the last thing I read that made me cry like a baby.

I am listening to The Martian The Martian by Andy Weir and our monthly read Swim the Fly Swim the Fly (Swim the Fly, #1) by Don Calame

message 8391: by Jenny (new)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments Dove Arising (Dove Chronicles, #1) by Karen Bao was pretty good, I really liked it! The first part of it reminded me a lot of Divergent, with kids competing for top ranks in the militia. The second half of the book was very well done, though, and I really ended up loving it!

Also finished Of Metal and Wishes (Of Metal and Wishes, #1) by Sarah Fine and I REALLY recommend this one! Its on sale right now on Kindle. Its a steampunk/dystopian Phantom of the Opera. And very well written!

Now reading Half Bad (Half Bad, #1) by Sally Green and The Forever Song (Blood of Eden, #3) by Julie Kagawa and will be starting Blood of My Blood (Jasper Dent, #3) by Barry Lyga

message 8392: by Becky (new)

Becky (bek11) | 451 comments So I took folks' suggestions and started Heist Society (Heist Society, #1) by Ally Carter . Almost done with the first one and had borrowed the other two at the same time. A nice, fun book after the Jasper Dent books. But wait.....there's a fourth Heist Society book? At least these ones seem to be pretty well self-contained so I won't be annoyed having to wait a year or two for the next one.

message 8393: by Heidi (new)

They are all pretty self contained Becky! So glad you liked it :)

Jenny (juliababyjen) | 1572 comments So far I really like it Bluemoon! Its different, the style of writing is almost like a contemporary, but its a VERY dark story about witches.
