It worked out nicely because The Strange Case of Finley Jayne became free right before another goodreads group I'm in is reading The Girl in the Steel Corset as a BOM. I'm about halfway through the prequel and it's decent so far. Nothing too exciting. Nice short read though.

Went to watch the film about Maggie Thatcher today and in it she was reading Ken Follets eye of the needle and i remembered I love that book so came home and downloaded it to my kindle

Wow, I don't often come across others who have read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and here are two in a row! I enjoyed the fact it was so long.

I'm now reading An Impartial Witnessby Charles Todd. It's the first I've read by the author that features his WWI nurse detective, and it's one of the most believable examples of actions flowing from character and background that I've ever seen.

I'm slowly warming up to it. After the first 100 pages or so, coupled with the footnotes, it felt like it wasn't going anywhere, but now I'm much more engaged with the story.

I got about halfway through it when it first came out and retried it again this past summer, then finally gave up, it just wasn't for me.

I totally understand. I almost gave up a couple of times as well, but after Strange is finally introduced it started to get much more interesting for me. I'm 3/4s through it now. It's still got it's slow moments, however.

I just started The Thief and noticed that it was about to be removed from GR, something to do with Amazon. As most of my reads are Kindle, does this mean unless I go and personally save each book they will disappear from my shelves? Why is this happening anyway?

From what I read in another group, Amazon will no longer be the main source of book information for GoodReads. Evidently there have been some issues with Amazon. GoodReads will be importing book info from another major source (don't know who) and this will be done shortly. Just repeating what I read so don't hold it as absolutely true.

From what I understand from the information provided on one of the threads I follow, it is only the information about the book and not the book itself that will be affected. I don't think your list of books will disappear from your shelves. The note I read said that some of the books being imported might not have all editions so your shelf might be changed to a different edition. That is, perhaps a paperback instead of a hard back edition or a paperback edition instead of a kindle edition. Make sense? Goodreads is going to supply a list of books for which they are not getting information fed to the website. Check the boards for more information that is more complete.
