Hi Chrissie! Of course you can. I must admit I don't know how to do/use the loan feature, so you will have to guide me through that one.

Robin, thank you. I am not very good at this either. I will search out where the instructions are..... I have only borrowed one book. I have never leant b/c Europeans are not allowed to do this. Not yet. I will get back to you after digging up a link to Amazon that explains this. Did you like the book? Was it a slog to get through? The reviews have been nothing but positive. You never can totally trust professional reviews. I will be back with a link.
I am back with the link: http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/4...
This is a link to the Kindle Lending Group here at GR. In "message one" there is a link to where the instructions are avialable at Amazon. They control everything so you do not have to worry that people "take your books". In the first paragraph you can click on "Loaning a Kindle book".
I will send you a PM. OK?
Ooops, I cannot send you a PM b/c your profile is set to private. I will send you a friendship request or you could send me a PM.
Now I will start The White Woman on the Green Bicycle. Will I get get an interesting love story and learn about Trinidad? I am hoping for culture and history and interestng people.I just finsihed The Dressmaker of Khair Khana: Five Sisters, One Remarkable Family, and the Woman Who Risked Everything to Keep Them Safe which, being a biography, was right up my alley. This book truly inspires hope for the future of Afghanistan. Kamila Sidiqi is a woman you should know of. This book is true, while A Thousand Splendid Suns is fiction. Here follows my spoiler-free review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
Hopefully, after reading the review, you can better judge if it is a book you want to read.
I am reading "The Breaking Point" by Janaya Black. I am listening to "The Darkest Child" by Delores Phillips. I clicked off but will finish "Rumors" by Anna Godberson. I'm really interested in reading "The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America's Great Migration" by Isabel Wilkerson but it is quite expensive @ over $14.
I'm reading Blood Like Poison: For the Love of a Vampire, a giveaway on thesecretwriterblog and I have to say it's very well written. I'm not especially into vampires / paranormal romance, but it's a fast easy read if you like that sort of thing.
The White Woman on the Green Bicycle is the book I just finished. All I can say is WOW - read this book!!! I adored it. Actually I have a lot more to say about this book and why it moved me so much. Here is my spoiler-free GR review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...And now I will startThe Oriental Wife. Why? I don't know. It just plain looks interesting. I am reading an egalley. I am a little worried how any book can possibly compare to the one I have just read?! This is what is so delightful with books. Each one is so different. Here we have two from Nuremberg, Germany, who meet up in the US and something from the past plays havoc with their future. What? I don't know. That is why I must read the book!
I am reading Outlander and Gone With the Wind. I usually keep several books going at a time. :) In paperback, I've also started the Sookie Stackhouse series Dead Until Dark.
I have read I Married You for Happiness. I explain my views on this book in my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...
I just finished the Hunger Games trilogy (great books!) and am now reading "Uncle Tom's Cabin" for the very first time (yay for public domain books!).
Carol wrote: "I am reading Outlander and Gone With the Wind. I usually keep several books going at a time. :) In paperback, I've also started the Sookie Stackhouse series Dead ..."</i>I just read [book:Gone With the Windlast month. It was a great read.
I started Halfway to the Grave.
Dawn wrote: "I just finished the Hunger Games trilogy (great books!) and am now reading "Uncle Tom's Cabin" for the very first time (yay for public domain books!)."I thought Uncle Tom's Cabin was FANTASTIC!
I'm reading Love Letters by Geraldine Solon. The idea behind the story is intersting but I'm struggling with the love triangle issue. Not really my cup of tea.I'm also reading Quo Vadis. A really old book, free read on kindle. Originally by a Polish author and translated into English, it is surprising a very good read.
I recently finished "Legends of the Ocenia Dragon" by J.F. Jenkins (totally awesome!), Wayward Soul by Kim Bowman (also totally awesome), My Dad's a Paranormal Investigator by Rebekah Purdy--totally waiting on the sequel from this one, and Into the Ether by Vanessa Barger--interesting story that made me wish to hear more. Also 11:11 Countdown to 2012 by Verna Clay, totally unique and interesting take on the 2012 disaster. All fiction of course but was interesting to read.
Sorry for so many, just didn't want to leave anything out!
I recently finished Last child by John Hart it was amazing please read This book it actually me cry.

I have to agree! It has been some years since I read the book but I really enjoyed it.
I am going to start The Free World. I have read intriguing reviews about the author's writing skills. His characters are said to be multi-layerd. I read a bit and was immediately hooked. It is historical fiction.
I'm working on a pre-publication galley, Fever Dream by Dennis Palumbo. It's a mystery set in Pittsburgh, main character is a psychologist who consults for the police. It should be published in November ... keep an eye out for it. It's pretty good.
How many of these books that you readers read are free books? How do you find the authors you read?Personally I tend to stick with a few favorites. Lately, (I've entered the publishing world) I've been introduced to new authors by winning their books. This has been a pleasant experience.
So how about it? How do you find the author's you read? All free books?
This question is really good and sounds like it's worth it's very own thread rather than losing it in the what book are you reading thread.

Most of mine are not free reads. I get most of my recommendations from friends and family and also GoodReads. I joined several GoodReads groups for genre's I like and found hundreds of suggestions. :) They also have challenges that end up expanding your reading selection and open doors for new types of books I never would have read on my own.
Struggling through Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. The previous two books in the Hunger Games Trilogy were amazing though... Hope i can get through this one soon as possible

That's a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
Mwanja wrote: "Struggling through Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. The previous two books in the Hunger Games Trilogy were amazing though... Hope i can get through this one soon as possible"I felt the same way. Honestly, I didn't feel like book 2 or 3 were anywhere near as engrossing as book 1.
Helen wrote: "I read the Hunger Games trilogy over 3 days at New Year and I enjoyed the lot. Wept."I'm excited to hear they are doing a movie! The casting has been pretty spot on!
Just started The Information: A History, A Theory, A Flood, a group read for a GR group. I was very good and downloaded a sample first. I'm liking it so well, I have no doubt I'll get it, but I may have to get it in hard copy. One of the things Kindle doesn't do very well is illustrations. I'm not sure yet how many there are in this book, but I suspect there will be at least some.

Did you get this from net galley? I am really struggling to get hold of a copy.
Nikki wrote: "I recently finished Last child by John Hart it was amazing please read This book it actually me cry."I love his books Nikki. Down River is another good book by John Hart. I don't know if you've read that one? I recommend it if you haven't.
Lisa, I just went and checked. Amazon has it also in hardcover and Kindle. BookDepository does not have it. But hey, if you are a member of Netgalley, go for it there!
Chrissie wrote: "Lisa, I just went and checked. Amazon has it also in hardcover and Kindle. BookDepository does not have it. But hey, if you are a member of Netgalley, go for it there!"Hi Chrissie,
Have checked NetGalley and they don't seem to have it anymore:( Have checked by genre & author too.
I can pre-order paperback on Amazon UK. Says it comes out in July. Think I may do that.
Lisa, sometimes it hard to find stuff on NetGalley. Try searching using the author's name. I do not know if it is still there, but often this method works best for me. And you are right, I didn't check WHEN it would be available at Amazon. Stupid me. It is important you read about why the book is written. This does direct the course of the book. It is in the prologue of the book. Have you checked my review? There are no spoilers.

I wasn't sure if you were in the US and it could be out there already. This is all your fault as you made the book sound so good! lol..... Will try and search under author as you suggested. Thanks for all your help xx
Lisa, we all help each other at GR. It is a great place! I am blushing. I am glad my review helped you decide if the book would fit your tastes! That is the point of reviews, I think.
I am still reading Under the Dome by Stephen King. It is really good but my work schedule has been hell recently, and the PTA is working me to death right now too. But soon school will be out for the summer here and I will have more time to relax on my porch swing and read :) Still tying to decide what is up next after I finish up with Stevie

I'm currently reading The Likeness by Tana French.Just finished Elizabeth Loupas's The Second Duchess. It's terrific - a must-read for anyone who enjoys both historical fiction and mystery. Hell, I'd recommend it even if those aren't your usual preferred genres.

It is really only ya in that the main character is a teenager. I also hated Twilight. Katniss is nothing like Bella.
